Synology Active Backup Suite is more user friendly than TrueNas and setting up all the environment for a Raspberry Pi system, its plug and play makes all the setup less complicated and the configuration more manageable. While TrueNas is a great enterprise solution with a great …
AWS Storage Gateway is more efficient than Unitrends Data Center Backup solutions we've used in the past, because it was 100% cloud based. The AWS Storage Gateway was able to utilize Glacier storage, while Unitrends could only use either S3 or S3-IA decreasing the ROI with the …
AWS Storage Gateway is better than Unitrends Data Center Backup and Recovery because it was entirely cloud based. Unlike Unitrends that requires a physical appliance that then would be connected to a AWS bucket. The AWS Storage Gateway was able to utilize Glacier storage, …
AWS Storage Gateway performance is ever excellent since we deployed it in our company. Downloading this platform and installing the setup is easy as compared to other similar products. Virtual data that we get from our cloud servers [are] good in the enhancement of better …
AWS Storage stacks up in compatibility with file format and downloads - the URL can be used with any other application I have - I have had other products that have not been compatible - for my course delivery - hence I have moved away from them to use solely AWS now. Also the …
We tried Red Hat Ceph Storage since we are a Centos/RHEL shop and there is a lot of engineering expertise on hand to manage it with configuration management tools and automation in place. What we discovered (rather quickly) was that the speed was difficult to bump up into …
Most of our workloads are hosted in AWS so we wanted to use a service that was easily integrated with our existing services. We selected AWS Storage Gateway as it provided us with a lot of features that eventually were very beneficial for us and our customers. AWS Storage …
1 - Great as a backup device, as part of an overall backup strategy. 2 - Really good for small businesses as it's a very capable box and can be a DHCP server, VPN server, File Server and more.
It is well suited for our backups. We store backups in 2 places EBS volumes in VPC and s3 buckets. From our on-prem servers, we connect to both and backup job runs smooth. It is less appropriate if you are already hosting in the AWS Cloud. There are direct ways to access storage areas without the need for gateway.
The AWS Storage Gateway can be deployed very quickly. We required only a couple of hours to get it setup and was able to present it to the backup server as a media manager and VTL drives.
The provisioning of the virtual tapes was also pretty easy to setup. Being able to utilize Glazier storage provided a great ROI.
The documentation AWS provides is very user friendly, allowing us to set up the AWS Storage Gateway the correct way.
Synology Active Backup Suite is easy to use, has great documentation, has video tutorials for a fast integration, it integrates well with Mac OS and Windows. You can have two different NAS machines backing up each other and keeping duplications in separate physical places and with no outside access, just login in from each other.
AWS Storage Gateway is a good product and for certain use cases works really well, however i would like to see it support additional protocols in the future.
Synology is a great and simple solution to backup physical or virtual infrastructure, it does what it provides very well.
It’s lacking a lot of advanced features from the more established solutions on the market such as Veeam but if budget is an issue you can’t beat the cost and an all in one solution that can back up your on prem infrastructure and your Microsoft 365 tenant as well.
AWS Storage Gateway is better than Unitrends Data Center Backup and Recovery because it was entirely cloud based. Unlike Unitrends that requires a physical appliance that then would be connected to a AWS bucket. The AWS Storage Gateway was able to utilize Glacier storage, while Unitrends could only use either S3 or S3-IA decreasing the ROI with the more expensive storage class. Furthermore the licensing model for the Unitrends is greater that with the AWS Storage Gateway.
Accessibility of data in Cloud: Previously it was difficult to access our stored data.
Cheaper storage as opposed to physical: At this point have saved enough money (when compared to physical storage)
One con is the scope of services included with some features. You aye only need 10% of what's there's but paying for the other 90% you don't use cam be costly.
