Chose Adobe Dreamweaver
I used FrontPage many years ago and believe it is now obsolete. It was never a good program, but Dreamweaver is superior and has always been my go-to choice.

While sublime text and notepad ++ are great, Adobe Dreamweaver is far better for web development in my opinion. The ability to just FTP your files up to your webserver without having to use another FTP software is a game changer. It really is a wonderful feature.

One of the issues I've had is our company newsletter. I use MailChimp to send it but the template I chose does not work well in MailChimp. My work-around is that I host the template in Adobe Dreamweaver and then code the new newsletter content in the tool. This allows me to choose the "Code Your Own" option in MailChimp. I simply paste in the code, make any tweaks, and then I can send it to my subscribers.

My typical use is to edit HTML and CFM pages from prior projects, and use them to create new ones. So, I rarely use the tools for designing pages provided in this application. I have found the ability to preview a page very useful. I am aware of numerous features in this editor, that simpler editors would not provide. It has proven to be a great fit for my use.

  • Space - you have to download the software on your hard drive
  • Cost - It's a monthly subscription and not open source
  • RAM - You need enough RAM to run Adobe products, and if you don't have enough it will crash and you can lose hours of work.

Adobe Dreamweaver is very useable and easy to navigate. It's features are fantastic and documentation on how to use the software is very detailed. If you can't find how to do something, the help file is fantastic and works great!
