We were having a lot of trouble with Paycom and the reporting within the platform. We escalated several tickets and were unsatisfied with the level of service we received. ADP better fits the day-to-day operations of our company.

The ADP Enterprise eTIME side of the customer service team is excellent. We have had many complicated phone calls and the ADP Enterprise eTIME team has always been able to help us. They have helped us to come up with many solutions, from shift differential codes to setting up …

It's a very similar system. ADP eTIME offers much more support through implementation and ongoing for users and admins. eTIME also seems more user-friendly and intuitive.

Overall user-friendliness and employee base survey resulted in the conclusion that it is NOT a good fit for our employee base. When viewing in depth other vendors, the time keeping features are lightyears ahead of ADP Enterprise eTIME.

This is the only time & attendance system we've used so far but will be moving to WorkDay time & attendance within the next year.

We had a few meetings with OnShift marketing to go over features and everything but our management team is very satisfied with the free version on Sling. Sling has been the easiest and best for payroll. OnShift was very spendy for our budget and didn't have messaging built in. …

It is well suited for an Outsourcing business. This type of business has a lot of clients to serve and most of the time consultants serve multiple different clients, eTime suits this kind of setup since it can aid on the accuracy of billing clients for hours rendered by consultants to them.

Sling has been our best option for communication and scheduling. We looked into OnShift and other scheduling systems that aren't free. Sling has been our best option. Our schedule is a beast and Sling has made my job much easier and for our on-call staff as well. You can change the color of positions (which we love) and we love to use green for bonus money shifts!

Pros
  • Ability to clock hours without a physical time clock/punchcard -- great for jobs like tutoring, which may not have a central meeting location
  • Ability to clock hours for multiple positions in different departments across an organization -- one paycheck, even though I had multiple supervisors and different pay rates

  • Desktop application for more detailed assignment of shifts.
  • Simple App for the workforce deployment that shows shifts and offers communication.
  • Ability for users to schedule themselves off work.

Cons
  • The setup is difficult for administers.
  • Mapping the pay rules to the accrual profiles, pay codes, etc., is hard to administer as well.
  • The consultants at ADP do not know the system well in some cases so getting help with setup and issues can be difficult.

  • Bring back the forever repeating shifts, they currently only repeat for 1 year so I have to go through every shift once a year & reset them.
  • Our staff liked when they had birthday notifications for staff.
  • Wish there was a way for admins to be managers of managers. What I mean by that is when management requests time off I do not get a notification so they have to let me know separately.

Usability
In some ways, the flexibility of eTime makes it much more usable than some time card systems. I can log my own hours at my convenience (as long as it is during the pay period), and eTime sends me a reminder email 24 hours before the cut-off for each pay period. I can log hours for multiple positions using particular pay codes, although there is no way for me to save frequently used or "my" pay codes -- adding this feature would be a much-appreciated improvement to eTime's usability. Juggling multiple pay codes within the current system, however, is cumbersome. There can also be problems if an incorrect or overlapping hour is accidentally entered and saved -- certain fields turn red and are difficult to adjust, often requiring the help of a software administrator. Correcting other errors and entering historical hours is extremely difficult, and the software does not work well on some browsers (and it is unattractive when I have been able to get it to work)

Return on Investment
  • Since I was an employee using the software, rather than someone managing the software, I can't say how it compares to other possible solutions. As an individual user it was sometimes convenient and often frustrating, but I'm not sure whether this reflects the experience of my supervisors, the payroll administrator, and/or the College overall.
