- Cost-Effective and cheaper than Okta for up to 100K users.
- Easy to set up and configure.
- Integration with other AWS services like Lambda, Pinpoint.
Chose Amazon Cognito
The service with Amazon is much better than Google's. When I can get Secure Passwords. OAuth, SAML, and More. It makes it great for a simple Integration. The startup was quick once we got a support case and a tech online. There has been limited Configurability. This was a …
Chose Amazon Cognito
AWS Cognito stacks up against others because it allows you to create unique identities for your users (Internal/vendors/customers) using a number of common public identity providers e.g. (Amazon, Facebook, and Google) and also support unauthenticated/anonymous guests. You can …

Chose Amazon Cognito
Amazon Cognito is easier to set up, but Auth0 offers some nice things such as more logon screen custimizability. Auth0 seems to be aimed at developers but it still is quite easy to use and set up.
Chose Amazon Cognito
I've used bespoke solutions for password, email, and OAuth flows, I've used AuthZero, and I've used Okta. In all cases, Cognito wins:

Chose Amazon Cognito
We use our own build user manager at the moment which works okay in our current on-prem situation, but not great. Choosing for the cloud and AWS, in particular, allows us to use AWS Cognito for resiliency, ease of use, great features and scalability. Not all of which were as …
Chose Amazon Cognito
It is easier to build multi-factor single sign-on with Okta. Okta has better documentation and provides a better developer experience. It lacks Cognito's seamless integration with other AWS products, however, integration with other Amazon products (like Lambda for customizing …
Chose Amazon Cognito
When compared to Okta, I would say Cognito is still not up to pace with Okta. However, I guess they are constantly updating their features and will soon come with the new features. I would say Cogntio provides a better interface than Azure.

Owing to the general findings formulated in this paper, comparing Okta and Microsoft Entra ID to IBM Verify, the latter appears to be the only tool that delivers a number of features for integrating with legacy systems. However, since IBM Verify has the upper hand in terms of …

Chose IBM Verify
IBM Security Verify is better than its competitors because of its ease of use and implementation.

For the feature set, Verify was by far the more attractive product. We use some other Fortinet systems, so naturally, we wanted to see what else was available outside of this ecosystem. Verify wasn't the cheapest solution, but it does provide a level of confidence that you are …

There are very few competitors in this space, and you don't have to look too much into this. If it gets your work done, you can add users and start using the software; it's not a project management software where you would have to evaluate for months on the go and then make a …

I believe that the decision for selecting IBM Security Verify was based on our IT technical analysis but also due to our trust that this provider would deploy a solution according to our needs and expectations. The free trial made it possible to test it and understand, at an …
Chose IBM Verify
I don't care for the IBM Security Verify. I find it old and clunky compared to newer programs that offer the same service. IBM was selected because we are a large organization, and we need the reassurances that only large (think Microsoft, alphabet, IBM, Dell, etc) can offer. …

We actually use the F5 load balancer instead of the ISAM for those functions. We did evaluate some similar Microsoft Azure offerings but did not select.
Chose IBM Verify
We evaluated Oracle Identity Manager and were ready to move ahead with the purchase plan, but then found that IBM addressed the needs of our company in a more robust fashion. The price was significantly higher, yet in the grand scheme of things, the safety of both our data and …
Chose IBM Verify
Compared to Okta, IBM Verify is easier to implement and more user-friendly for our employees. It provides strong security using multi-factor authentication and maintains easy settings. We chose IBM Verify because it met our needs without any significant development work.
Chose IBM Verify
Okta has good user experience for end users and setup process however IBM verify has a stronger capability for integration, auditing. Microsoft Entra integrates well within the Microsoft tech stack, easier for users to adopt due to familiar environment. Store scalability and …

Well Suited
  1. B2C mobile and web apps with a high number of users.
  2. Cheaper and cost-effective.
  3. If the other pieces of the infra are already using AWS services like Lambda, S3, Pinpoint, etc.
Not Suited For:
  1. Advanced use-cases (Biometrics based authentication) Email, and other MFA channels.
  2. For any use-cases needing SCIM.
  3. Customized flows of SSO, and MFA will need a layer on Lambda and other AWS services.

It is brilliant for use as an identity and access management tool and ensures the safeguarding of our systems and upholds data integrity as a consequence. It was very easy to set up and apart from a straightforward installation, we have found customisation and configuration easy. It was easy to deploy in the cloud after using it previously on premises.

Pros
  • Strong integration with React.js and client-side applications
  • Easy to bridge Cognito identities with the rest of the AWS ecosystem
  • Easy to store user profile data directly in Cognito rather than having to build additional services/endpoints
  • Easy integration with AWS Lambda to extend and add sophistication to the service

  • MFA authentication - you can verify the users using the mobile app.
  • Password repository - We don't have to remember passwords for each app; we only need one for IBM security, which then authenticates us and lets us access the app.
  • Sharing access to new users, we just create a new user in IBM and it authenticates and takes care of the user.

Cons
  • SCIM implementation is not present.
  • B2B SaaS use-cases are very hard to configure. More suitable or B2C use-cases.
  • Needs more recipes, plugins, SDK's.
  • 2FA with Email as an OTP channel is not supported.
  • 2 FA using biometrics is not available; can be customised using lambda.

  • It was a bit overwhelming to implement and was neither obvious nor user-friendly.
  • While the product is quite powerful, the documentation left something to be desired if one wants to fully appreciate its capabilities.
  • The cost was almost prohibitive, but it was the only product we could find that addressed all the needs of our organization in one place.

Usability
All the features AWS Cognito offers gives the user the options they need without making it too complicated. Your customers will be happy. On the administration site usability is also great. After a small learning curve, you can setup Cognito for your usage

While setup and implementation takes work and time, the flexibility and possibilities make up for that in the long run. This is not a product you can just install and run, but if you design and implement your ruleset well, it will save you a lot of work afterwards. Just make sure that the systems you want to use it for have an existing and proven connector.

Throughout the system testing we conducted, we never encountered an issue that wasn't easily solvable. We did find some of the documentation confusing at times, but we overcame this quickly with some speedy support assistance. Implementation into production was a lot smoother following the testing we conducted.

Support Rating
AWS Support overall is poor. Your main resources are trainings and the docs, and the docs can be very confusing. Using Cognito well involves having a developer learn it deeply and help support your team in understanding it. That said, Cognito's competitors also have dismal support and even worse documentation, so while this isn't a strength for Cognito it may still be the frontrunner here.

The support team has always been the primary consultation base when we are faced by performance problems. From the deployment stage the team has managed to monitor the operation lifecycle and give best insights based on their observation. It works 24/7 to enhance productive service delivery to clients. The IBM Security Verify Support team has been the main player in the successful performance of this software.

Return on Investment
  • Amazon Cognito has had a positive impact on our business by allowing us to develop services that require user sign-up and sign-in more rapidly. Not only do we not need to build or maintain these features, but Cognito's implementation is also better than what we would be justified in building ourselves.
  • Amazon Cognito makes user management easy. This reduces the time we have to spend supporting users. Non-technical product managers can even use the AWS Console to manage users without requiring support from developers.
  • Amazon Cognito is likely more secure than what would be built in-house; a portion of our attack surface is now managed by Amazon.
