Assembly NeosFilevine
Considered Both Products
Assembly Neos
Chose Assembly Neos
My current job uses Assembly Neos and my previous job used Needles and migrated to Neos. So far, Neos is superior to other legal practice case management programs. I have friends who work at larger firms locally who don't have any type of program like this and it blows my mind.
Chose Assembly Neos
I have not used any other product other than Assembly NEOS.
Chose Assembly Neos
Assembly Neos is a lot easier to navigate and use compared to CasePeer and FileVine
Chose Assembly Neos
we have used Needles Neos previously
Chose Assembly Neos
Our firm previously used Needles, which was very useful. I like that Assembly Neos is web-based.
Chose Assembly Neos
They are pretty comparable. I mainly use Neos to search for cases and I do all of the actual case work in Microsoft SharePoint. There are others in the firm who only use Neos. I like Neos better because of the user-friendly interface it has, and quick access to the many files …
Chose Assembly Neos
Matter365 walked so Assembly Neos can run. Assembly Neos organizes in a clearer and more well-defined format, and was simple to pick up.
Chose Assembly Neos
I only watched a quick demo of this, but it seemed very similar to Assembly Neos, except that it had to be hosted on a remote environment instead of cloud based. The cloud based environment makes it much easier for our firm to work remotely or on different computers when needed.
Chose Assembly Neos
Our firm previously used Needles. We tend to still prefer Needles to Neos. The main improvement with Neos is that it is cloud based.
Chose Assembly Neos
We used TrialWorks long before we started using Salesforce. Salesforce does not have the many capabilities TrialWorks has for managing cases in a law firm.
Chose Assembly Neos
Needles was what we were using before but with Assembly Neos we can work in the office or work remotely with no worries. Assembly Neos is also customizable to meet our specific and unique needs. The ability to integrate other software is also great because is makes for a more …
Chose Assembly Neos
Neos gives a lot more options. The updates implemented in Neos helped me keep track of cases more easily. Neos was the easiest system to convert to compared to others. I also appreciate that Neos keeps a backup log of our work so we don't have to worry about losing it.
Chose Assembly Neos
It is more user-friendly as far as organization. It provides a document management system unlike CasePeer.
Chose Assembly Neos
Assembly Neos has a new and improved look. It is spaced out so it is easy on the eyes and the tabs along the left hand side make it easy to navigate to different areas of the program. With Time Matters, everything was very "compact" view wise, and felt like a very old program …
Chose Assembly Neos
Neos' is the only product ive ever used.
Chose Assembly Neos
The only other previous program I used was Needles. Which was incredibly out dated and not as user friendly. I do not have any expierence with any other programs so I cannot give specific feedback.
Chose Assembly Neos
Assembly Neos is simpler but effective, and that makes it easy to understand and learn.
Chose Assembly Neos
I have not used any other products other than Assembly Neos, due to our company only having this professional product as our home based to our client's day to day use.
Chose Assembly Neos
I didn't select Neos, but my firm did. I previously used Filevine and love Neos much more. Neos, in my opinion, is more user-friendly and adaptable.
Chose Assembly Neos
Clio is less user friendly, and it does not have the same details that Neos does
Chose Assembly Neos
I haven't used any other products like Neos. Right before joining the company, we used Needles. But I was hired right after the switch to Neos so I cannot speak on Needles.
Chose Assembly Neos
Assembly Neos comes at a better price than any other system we have worked with or considered and provides similar features.
Filevine
Chose Filevine
Filevine is much easier to learn and use, the user interface is more appealing (with bigger fonts and easy-to-understand icons), and its customization feature is easier to use and understand.
Chose Filevine
I’ve tried Clio, MyCase, and PracticePanther. Clio is super user-friendly with lots of integrations, MyCase is great for billing and communication but more limited on automation, and PracticePanther is easy to use but not as strong on reporting. Compared to them, Filevine feels …
Chose Filevine
I wasn't involved with the decision; I inherited it.
Chose Filevine
Filevine is so much more detailed and extensive in terms of keeping all the information for each case in one place. I can even edit docs within filevine and combine docs and create emails and faxes right from within. I feel Filevine is an all in one stop and helps keep …
Chose Filevine
I think Filevine is much easier to use than the other two products because it has more features, runs faster, less bugs than the other products.
Chose Filevine
Excellent in comparison. It took me a year to learn how to use Abacus.
Chose Filevine
File Vine is an excellent product due to its ease of use and organizational capabilities. Have used another product, but it's not as vast as File Vine.
Chose Filevine
I have used Zelous. It is a smaller known case management software. I was a public defender. it was created for public defenders by public defenders. I have also used Defender Data. Filevine blows both of these products out of the water.
Chose Filevine
Prevail Case Management System, Clio and PracticePanther
Chose Filevine
much more customizable. We have a niche practice - ERISA - not a personal injury practice. Clio does not fit what we do and Filevine can be customized to fit.
Chose Filevine
Filevine is much simpler to use
Chose Filevine
Night and day difference between FV and Practice Panther. PP was easy to start but has massive limitations. FV can be built for anything. It's the Salesforce of this segment.

When we need to message the client directly from their file, it helps us keep track of when we last spoke with the client and manage any necessary information. Also, being able to see any changes made to the cases. I have not seen a less appropriate scenario. I feel like every improvement made in Neos has worked for the best.

File Vine is well-suited because I believe it was invented to assist Law Firms with document organization for the legal cases collected in a Law Firm. It is easy to navigate and find your documents with a click of a button.

Cons
  • Sometimes the updates are rolled out without a law firm minded person testing them. You can tell that technically they are well thought out, but when put to use in a firm setting, there are things that could have been easily identified by firm users and fixed before the initial roll out.
  • The wish list is a great idea, but when there are features to specific things that are not working, I would rather that be fixed to make that function usable rather than being told to put it on the wish list to possibly be fixed later on.
  • The integration with Microsoft typically works seamlessly. However we have been having more and more issues with the outlook integration.

  • Automation customization is hard to navigate if you are unable to afford the cost of having a third-party do the set-up
  • Mailroom notifications for non faxes - We should be able to obtain notifications for emails that our sent into our mailroom

I LOVE NEOS CLIENT SOFTWARE. I've been a paralegal for 30 years, and saw the technology go from hard files, to digital; and then from using Outlook and Excel to track everything to Needles, and then finally to Neos. I love Needles, but Neos is even better. It is the best client database I've used

Usability
This software deserves a ten not only because of the quality of the product you will get a the point of purchase, but also because it always improving on its features constantly. This software was very easy to learn compared to other programs that requires a prolonged acclimation time. I think it says a lot to have a tab or a spreadsheet for every instance in the litigation process.

I dock a few points because of the setup it requires. If someone in-house can handle that then the score goes up. It really depends on the firm and their personnel. Once it is setup though, I think anyone can get in and do what they need to do

Return on Investment
  • We noticed that with Neos, it gave us more insight into what our employees were getting done and not, so this was a positive.
  • A negative was that because of how advanced Neos is, our attorneys had a hard time learning it, which caused lots of problems.

  • Our intake process has been fast tracked using Filevine
  • Remote users can just use a web page on their personal device (phone, pc or mac)
  • We have repurposed our front desk / reception call logger by using a custom layout
  • Our attorney's have their own private projects for case lists which scripts updates to our executive management
