Considered Both Products
Azure AI Speech
Chose Azure AI Speech
Azure AI Speech easier to build up than the others.

As well having better integration with other services we have deployed in Azure Cloud, winning speed in the go-to-market.
Chose Azure AI Speech
Having used both this service and IBM Watson's Text to Speech, I can safely say that IBM's product comes out on top but this is a close call as both products are very good in their own right. That being said, this Azure service lacks some of the extra functionality that can be …
Chose Azure AI Speech
Azure Cognitive Speech Services is simple and the interface is not complicated even for those getting started with these customer services tools and the best voice recognition. Setting the platform dashboard preferences is also an easy process and with the ability to manage …
Chose Azure AI Speech
Price is the number one factor which stands out for Azure among its competitor's Number of languages supported esp from an Indian context also is quite remarkable as opposed to its competitors, the vocabulary and accent support therein also matters. Its cloud-first deployment …
Chose Azure AI Speech
Yellow Messenger didn't have Speech to text capabilities. Azure Cognitive Speech Services was specifically selected because it had the capabilities of text to speech and speech to text both with the added convenience of it being deployed on the cloud. The integration and use …
Chose Azure AI Speech
Just used this once but for me Azure is much easier since the company uses Office 365.
Trados Studio
Chose Trados Studio
Trados Studio Freelance Edition is perfect for me as a freelancer.
Chose Trados Studio
I didn't select. My agencies use Trados Studio.
Chose Trados Studio
MemoQ is better quality and cheaper. Previously, Trados had a monopoly on the market but fortunately there are other adequate options available now at a lower cost.
Chose Trados Studio
I tried using memoQ to get used to server-based localization tools, but experienced critical issues such as translation data not being updated on the server so stopped using it before I get used to it, unfortunately. It must be updated and improved by now, so I might try using …
Chose Trados Studio
It is not our main CAT tool but having an SDL Trados Studio license is really handy as we receive new requests as Trados project packages regularly. It is not as efficient as Memsource for example but it is a great option and has many features.
Chose Trados Studio
We occasionally use Smartcat as well and love that it is more tailored to freelancers and smaller (boutique) agencies. It also has better overall team-management features, however SDL is a popular choice of many bigger clients that we work with, hence, choosing it was a …
Chose Trados Studio
I did a private application that extracts data from an Office application and sends it to a Word table and allows the user to work there directly. Of course, SDL Trados is better than competitors but could do a better job with the formatting display in the Editor. I am aware …
Chose Trados Studio
I prefer Trados Studio to other online CAT tools, since online CAT tools can turn very slowly, because of the internet. The fact that I can import documents in Excel, PowerPoint, editable PDF, and Word format helps a lot, as well as the compatibility of Trados with MemoQ. …
Chose Trados Studio
We have tried a variety of other CAT software at times. The problem is that few have the market penetration or critical mass of users that SDL Trados does. It's not that the software is the best out there, it's long term stability and the number of users that is more important. …
Chose Trados Studio
The interpretation business is taking care of business. There are loads of various agile devices out there meant to encourage interpreters and organizations to do their work quicker and with the quality customers expect. I have been an SDL Trados client for very nearly ten …

Although now there are competitors, it held a monopoly on computer assisted translation packages for some years. If high prices and poor customer support are not an issue for you, by all means purchase it. Other translators can find better options elsewhere in 2022.

Pros
  • Deployment is easy since its available on the cloud.
  • It is directly as a service and no expertise in AI or ML is needed by the development team.
  • Security of data since Azure promises that it does not store the data of the customers that is used by the service.

  • Extracting sentences from Word, PowerPoint, and PDF.
  • Updating the source document when the client sends an updated source file.
  • Comparing sentence by sentence old set of source/target translations made outside of SDL Trados.
  • Maintaining a user community base to broadcast knowledge and issues.
  • Having an aggressive product update frequency.

Cons
  • The software is not user-friendly- it has a complicated interface and requires a lot of training to set up.
  • The pricing is also costly - so for an individual user, not on a company plan, this is not affordable.

  • I would like it to be faster. When I create a new project, even if it is short, it takes a couple of minutes until I can start using the file.
  • I would like it to support more than 5 languages as, for example, I work with 7 different language pairs.
  • It does not always accept the files after they were converted with OCR. It would be great if I could use Trados for those files as well.

Usability

Again, the list of functions is impressive but the way it is organized (not process-driven) and the fact that complex tasks should be close to basic tasks make the product suitable to hardcore users that have a lot of time to research the manuals and blogs. By the way, Nora Diaz is one of the most respectable users of this product. Her videos help a lot!

Support has been fast, precise and thorough. There is support on the web, by chat, by email, from the communities, from the experts, on the product Help section, on YouTube, and other social media. There is also a paid support for companies. This area is where the company stands out. I was not able to evaluate the support in languages other than English.

Having used both this service and IBM Watson's Text to Speech, I can safely say that IBM's product comes out on top but this is a close call as both products are very good in their own right. That being said, this Azure service lacks some of the extra functionality that can be found in other products such as broader multi-language support. This product is also more costly than some other alternatives which is a con in my opinion. Azure does, however, come out on top in regards to customer support and general support of the product as it is supported by Microsoft which also means that it integrates well with other parts of the Microsoft suite.

We have tried a variety of other CAT software at times. The problem is that few have the market penetration or critical mass of users that SDL Trados does. It's not that the software is the best out there, it's long term stability and the number of users that is more important. We need to be compatible with our suppliers, so the choice is made on that basis.

  • The platform provides solutions for project information and easy management of client contacts.
  • Reliable tools for quick reporting and the predictive data offered are quite relevant.
  • Multiple data migration and easy to schedule through the platform.

  • As we have the license we can accept and take on our clients' requests without problem.
  • Integration with other tools such as Xbench makes it very easy to apply our QA procedures.
  • It is less efficient compared to our main CAT tool thus sometimes it can get time-consuming.
