Considered Both Products
BlackBerry Protect (CylancePROTECT)
Chose BlackBerry Protect (CylancePROTECT)
At the time we were looking to upgrade to the Blackberry version, we already had the Dell branded version of Cylance installed on our machines and we really liked it. Once we got the pricing comparison between Carbon Black and Blackberry we made the decision to stick with …
Chose BlackBerry Protect (CylancePROTECT)
not as good but not willing to pay the price of the outage that happened earlier
Chose BlackBerry Protect (CylancePROTECT)
Cost was much better than McAfee. PROTECT can cover non-virtual endpoints.
Chose BlackBerry Protect (CylancePROTECT)
Better product. it works better, is easier to manage, costs less, and is easier to remove if you want to change.
Chose BlackBerry Protect (CylancePROTECT)
We were on Sophos Anti-Virus and moved to CylancePROTECT. It was a no competition as Sophos was a very resource-intensive product that would slow our systems down when it scanned. CylancePROTECT gave us the ability to look at how the files reacted which allows for a faster …
Chose BlackBerry Protect (CylancePROTECT)
I have compared CylancePROTECT against several other traditional AV's in a lab environment with some serious new malware and ransomware. Cylance was my clear choice and remain proud of that decision, after 2.5 years. I managed to get 4 out of 4 ransomware infections past in my …
Chose BlackBerry Protect (CylancePROTECT)
Once you see a road show with Cylance and watch how Cylance is able to block ten out of ten or nine out of ten threats live vs SEP which stops six or seven out of ten, you're sold. Cylance has crushed all the competition in these events. Disconnect the competition from any …
Chose BlackBerry Protect (CylancePROTECT)
CylancePROTECT blocked all known threats (including zero-day ransomware executables) immediately. ESET detected the "out in the wild" known malicious executables, but the moment we modified those executables or loaded freshly created ransomware files, ESET failed spectacularly …
Chose BlackBerry Protect (CylancePROTECT)
Since there are no signatures, it learns your environment and the software running on it. Its better to manage/set up than the Symantec EndPoint Protection we had before.
Chose BlackBerry Protect (CylancePROTECT)
Cylance, I believe is the only one that uses the predict and prevent execution of advanced threats and malware at the endpoint. Cylance is by far a superior product.
Chose BlackBerry Protect (CylancePROTECT)
Cylance had a lower CPU consumption than it's competitors allowing us to improve client performance especially on older hardware and without the need to schedule background scans it has ensured staff can work optimally.
Chose BlackBerry Protect (CylancePROTECT)
Beet them hands down! Both were ineffective at stopping the more recent and sophisticated types of malware.
Chose BlackBerry Protect (CylancePROTECT)
Cylance was steps ahead of these other competitors with the technology they use. Yes, it was a bit more pricey than the others but we found it to be worth the extra cost because we wanted to make sure we would be the most protected we could be. Some of the others were not easy …
Trellix Endpoint Security ENS
Chose Trellix Endpoint Security ENS
At the time we took the decision all other products seemed to be complicated in usage and licensing. Trellix was very simple in all the aspects: licensing, usage, support.
It also was very simple to deploy, setup and manage.
Product interface was simple to understand and even …
Chose Trellix Endpoint Security ENS
All in one protection for endpoint devices, the data loss prevention, and adaptive threat protection is the best advantage against other competitors. The cost for the platform and service is very effective and efficient. The usage and capability of this software is very edge …
Chose Trellix Endpoint Security ENS
Unlike Trellix Endpoint Security Symantec Endpoint provides less information about events on the user side. Trellix give an opportunity to see information about virus detection on a user machine as quick as it possible, so we were able to catch the signs of virus propagation …
Chose Trellix Endpoint Security ENS
FireEye Endpoint Security is my favorite EDR tool. It's a single pane of glass that fits nicely into the Helix and NX platforms.
Chose Trellix Endpoint Security ENS
It has fewer false positive issues. It also provides more compatibility with a variety of different OS versions. The sensor installation is easy to use, update and maintain as well as the reporting capabilities that it can offer are more robust than the ones that other …
Chose Trellix Endpoint Security ENS
Compared to its competitors like Cisco, McAfee is cheaper. At the competitive pricing levels, McAfee Endpoint Security does a good job. Although it stacks up finely against decent priced solutions but it doesn't provide superior service if the price limit is scaled down or up. …
Chose Trellix Endpoint Security ENS
Compared to Endgame and AMP, McAfee Endpoint Security doesn't hold a candle to them when it comes to detecting/advanced identifying malware or zero days. Since Mcafee Endpoint Security is signature-based, it is way behind the curve with newer anti-malware tools that can focus …
Chose Trellix Endpoint Security ENS
We were using Microsoft Defender in the beginning as it was free and quite good. But as we got acquired by a large MNC, we were asked to switch to McAfee as we had to follow the company guidelines which takes data security very seriously and personally. I think the switch did …
Chose Trellix Endpoint Security ENS
The solution is already in place when I join the organization. I do not have any information on what other antivirus software they evaluated before decided to purchase McAfee Endpoint Security.
Chose Trellix Endpoint Security ENS
McAfee is a strong, if not strongest A/V solution in the endpoint security space. It's wide adoption and strong support and positive reviews from companies like Gartner and Forrester back it up.
Chose Trellix Endpoint Security ENS
If you have Cisco tools and equipment globally in place and just for the clients additionally McAfee you should have a deeper look. We wanted to install end-2-end security over all networks and hardware. This was a big point for Cisco. For a managed client team, Cisco is a step …
Chose Trellix Endpoint Security ENS
McAfee Endpoint Security has a better GUI, better pricing, stronger features, and agent deployment is much faster. Their firewall is extremely good, and for those reasons I would firmly recommend it over other solutions (Kaspersky, Symantec etc). Like I mentioned earlier, do …
Chose Trellix Endpoint Security ENS
McAfee Endpoint Security provides a single platform for Firewall, AV and web control. With the new console and integration between the components, threat detection is superior.
Chose Trellix Endpoint Security ENS
Trend Micro is a better solution in our environment. It is easier to manage and seems to do a better job.
Chose Trellix Endpoint Security ENS
McAfee is a cheaper price point, however Kaspersky out performs McAfee in every category. We went with McAfee, because many of the team members in IT were familar with it, less training (short term), and lower cost (short term)
Chose Trellix Endpoint Security ENS
Advanced Threat Protection, or ATP in Office 365 was awful. Some attachments wouldn't be delivered at all while others took minutes and sometimes hours to be delivered after being scanned. It was causing us to lose business. FireEye processes attachments in less than 60 seconds …
Chose Trellix Endpoint Security ENS
We only selected McAfee because we are already using ESET NOD32 for the protection of our desktops and laptops. We didn't want to use the same software for our servers so we chose McAfee instead. I personally like ESET Smart Security better than McAfee when deploying it on a …
Chose Trellix Endpoint Security ENS
Trellix Endpoint Security ENS interfaces better with other tools and is simpler to use. provides wider endpoint protection and more centralized control than SentinelOne's automatic response. Trellix Endpoint Security ENS preserves McAfee's dependability while offering newer …

If I had to recommend an endpoint AV solution, [BlackBerry Protect (CylancePROTECT)] would be on the list...in fact at the top of the current list. It is a cost effective solution. When we did the bakeoff in our selection we built 3 generic W10 PCs. We located a Malware repository on the internet and downloaded a package of 100. The first solution stopped 80% from installing, the second stopped 100%, [BlackBerry (CylancePROTECT)] would not let the package download! Winner winner chicken dinner :)

During the pandemic all our users worked remotely that was challenging from security perspective, so we had to deploy the endpoint protection system with cloud based monitoring server. By doing that we were able to keep safety for users workspaces even though some of them did not connect to VPN for a long time

Pros
  • Cylance uses AI Math-Model algorithms/machine-learning solutions, compared to other solutions which use signature-based solutions.
  • The Cylance client is very light-weight and is not as resource hungry.
  • The blocking capability is completely customizable through policies. Macro blocking, script blocking, and device blocking (USB, CDROM, iPhone, Android, etc.) can all be customized per organization needs.
  • Management interface is easy to use. The dashboard gives administrators a quick glance at threat events, threat protection, and device protection. Reports give you quick glances at infections, stale versions, and computers that have been offline for a period of time. Updates are easy to roll out in a tiered fashion to properly test.
  • Customer support is great! You can open up a ticket within the management portal and get help within a few hours. Most of the support is over email unless it is complicated, then they will do a remote session.

  • Provides high fidelity alerting.
  • Allows CSOC analysts to perform forensic triage and alert investigations through containment from a single pane of glass.
  • Provides alert telemetry across on-disk and in-memory attacks.
  • Supports many additional 'bolt-on' modules to provide additional alert context or capabilities.

Cons
  • It would be great if there was a way for an administrator to make a file as safe from the end user device when a false positive has occurred (which is rare). At present and administrator has to log into the web console, create an exception and then wait 60-120 seconds for this to be effective on the end user device, still great, but this can be frustrating for users that are urgently trying to use the file.
  • Executive reporting could be better. Just a single page dashboard report that could be included in other monthly reporting.

  • My biggest flak with McAfee Endpoint Security is that it is quite resource-intensive. It does tend to make the system a little slow. You get security at the expense of your machine's speed.
  • Even though the drive encryption makes the system more secure, it takes a lot of time to first enter the very long password, and then for it to decrypt the whole machine. This sometimes clashes with Windows update and causes a lot of complications which leads to boot loops.

Support Rating
I have only used CylancePROTECT support one time and they were very fast and responsive with the answers that solved my issue. That is the only reason I gave them a 7 as I have only had one interaction with them.

The support is pretty good, and I haven't had any issues with getting the highest quality technical support when there are issues. Tech support representatives that I have dealt with know the product quite well and have solved many issues that I have had with the product in the past. The only issue I have with support is that it can be quite expensive.

At the time we were looking to upgrade to the Blackberry version, we already had the Dell branded version of Cylance installed on our machines and we really liked it. Once we got the pricing comparison between Carbon Black and Blackberry we made the decision to stick with Cylance since we knew it was proven to work well in our environment with some of our unique software.

We only selected McAfee because we are already using ESET NOD32 for the protection of our desktops and laptops. We didn't want to use the same software for our servers so we chose McAfee instead. I personally like ESET Smart Security better than McAfee when deploying it on a desktop or laptop because I think it protects the PC better. When it comes to web protection, policy updates, etc., McAfee is the better choice and that's why we deployed it on our servers.

Return on Investment
  • We are spending less time troubleshooting potential attacks - all alerts go to our management interface and we can globally clear/block items.
  • Users are not getting upset at the resources taken by antivirus - they feel they got their speedy machine back.

  • This tool helped us in delegating the asset safety responsibility to the client level by 80%, leaving 20% for the management console.
  • With a decent pricing, the benefits are slightly above expectations. The ROI is good.
  • But, considering most of the malware comes from internet, with a good email security appliance and next gen firewall in place, the online security alerts are now redundant. It could be something that can be termed as overkill on the budget.
