Additional DetailsInEight offers a modular, integrated project controls platform. Because the InEight platform covers the entire construction lifecycle, customers purchase the software based on their specific needs – purchasing stand-alone products, a bundle of products, or the entire platform. As a result, the pricing will vary depending on the specific product, number of users and length of contract. Once InEight has identified the highest impact areas, they offer potential customers a custom proposal. The options they consider include: Per user pricing: typically annual subscriptions. Revenue-based: using a percentage of the customer’s revenue. Project-based: software use dedicated to a specific project or program of work.

(Hubspot) For Sales & Marketing, it is really a killer awesome program that I would encourage Buildertrend to look into.
Hubspot is just on another level of intelligence and access that Buildertrend doesn't match up to.
At the same time, perhaps HubSpot lacks what Buildertrend …

I have tried some competitors. Overall, there are some alternatives but personally, I feel that Quickbooks is the "Google" of management systems. The customer service is amazing and they offer a no-hassle product. The only wish would be that they had offered a true "free trial" …

I am still very new with using BuilderTrend but enjoy using the application. When we have an issue or a feature addition the BuilderTrend team is very responsive to help or point us to where we may seek an answer.

The program has outstanding customer service. With project scheduling, project management, financial management, customer management, and service management capabilities in a single suite, there's really not much this program can't do! Owners generally love the use of this …

I've used SAP for more than 10 years before my current job in this company. The best thing in SAP, is exactly what I have commented before, it's a single one tool, that does all what InEight do.

InEight seems to be an improvement on SAP BPC, though I haven't used SAP BPC for invoice processing, But in terms of planning, forecasting, budgeting and variance analysis. InEight has an edge because it is mor user friendly and the data you get is more streamlined and fit for …

InEight has been the first product that I have used and I wouldn't change it. Coming up from a hand to staff it has made my job easier to perform. Easier to keep track of quantities, hours, production being made throughout the project and makes it easier to access work plans …

The two items that set InEight apart was the estimating module with the ability to track cost to the exact estimate line item and the ability to export manhours to payroll. The other software's were either lacking or deficient in these items.

Chose InEight
InEight is cheaper than both. It is more functional than Aconex, but not iTWO. InEight's GUI needs the most work to improve.

I would prefer Aconex but the cost is too high. The overall layout and feel of Aconex are modern compared to InEight.

Perfect for General Contractor's and subcontractor's that want to be a leader in their industry. Sure, you can limp along without a management system but you won't be able to take your business to the next level in most cases. If you are small enough and only doing one maybe two jobs at a time and you are good at keeping every single detail in your head and don't have any issues with schedule or timeframes then you may not need this. However, I have not been in a situation where software like Buildertrend didn't/couldn't add significant value and a need in my company

Compared to other Estimating software I have used, InEight has superior capabilities and features. The ability to use a line item or an assembly to create an estimate is an outstanding feature of the program. The ability to create crew rates and use them in the estimate is a handy feature, especially when estimating construction projects.

Pros
  • The subcontractor PO management area makes managing the scope of work and payments for each subcontractor extremely easy and is well organized.
  • The material selections section also greatly simplifies and organizes a somewhat challenging aspect of remodeling.
  • The ability for customers to view the total project cost and make payments online is a major time saver and improves our cashflow.

  • Tracking labor and equipment hours to specific estimated scope line items
  • Creating detailed work breakdown structures within Estimate and using that same structure to apply cost to during the job
  • Creating custom data blocks in control to track progress and create forecasts

Cons
  • In messaging an Out of Office type auto response would be great for when people go out on vacation
  • When using the Job Type field of Mutli-Family this should allow the interface to group that all in one job but be section out into the different unit in that building. So different selections can all be located within that same unit.
  • Building new jobs from templates can take up to 10 minutes some times. Please reduce the amount of time it take to make jobs off templates.
  • Owner accounts should not be directly tied to a job, they should be completely separate so the account can be linked to different jobs and not cause problems to that account or what that account has access to.

  • We do not use the search engine since it was last modified. It is no longer user friendly.
  • We used to like the way we could change the position of line items. The function has been changed to where it is not user friendly anymore.
  • The "Save" and "Delete" options are right next to each other. I have been after Ineight to change these for a long time but they have not.

Some features with InEight's TeamBinder are worthy of single use, however the review feature and subsequent revision and version numbering could be improved. We will be aiming to roll out the package to encompass our internal documentation in the near future and will be in a better position to judge the usability after that point in time.

Usability
Its simple to use and intuitive. The level of support that we have from online videos, to access to customer support, and the ability to call anyone at anytime on the main line has been invaluable to utilize and not get stuck on something you don't know yet. We've never not had anyone that couldn't respond in time for us.

I would give it an 8 out of 10 because the software can be a bit cumbersome to new users. It also takes a long time to set up the library and input all of your companies needs so that the software will provide the level of service required to estimate projects. However, once the software is set up it is a powerful tool. We only use a portion of what the software is capable of delivering

Support Rating
I highly recommend. The only suggestion I have would be to offer a free trial. They do offer a 30 day money back guarantee. The price point isn't daunting if you have had a 100 % no strings attached/no effort to cancel or try to remember to get your money back - no strings attached chance to try out the product. Especially for such a big purchase decision, I think Buildertrend would see an incredible increase in sales. They have the value and companies just need a chance to see it first hand.

Every time I have contacted support, they have gotten back to [me] quickly and with a few solutions. I like that they seem to be US-based, so there is no language barrier when I try to communicate my problem. For the few times, they did not have a solution ready, they told me they would respond later after further research, and they actually followed up! Better than most support I have used in the past with other software.

Since the original inception, I have been required to overhaul the system so that it is more user friendly and combines both aspects of our business, documentation and drawings. Being able to control revision and version numbering has been a key struggle that only staff training has been able to mark this as complete.

(Hubspot) For Sales & Marketing, it is really a killer awesome program that I would encourage Buildertrend to look into. Hubspot is just on another level of intelligence and access that Buildertrend doesn't match up to. At the same time, perhaps HubSpot lacks what Buildertrend has on the Finance and Construction Management side - that I don't know. Our business is virtually complete by combining both of these platforms together across our teams.

InEight is covering a great portion on planning, we will see schedule and estimate, it will definitely improve, so, waiting on that to see.
