Intuit ProConnect Tax Online is cloud-based professional tax software. It integrates with QuickBooks and includes a client portal so that clients can input their tax data online. ProConnect has a pay-per-return pricing structure.
In my opinion, CCH Axcess is superior but also costs more. I think CCH axcess can be great if you set it up correctly but can be very messy if you don't invest considerable time in the setup. Overall, for the price we pay for Canopy, I'm happy with the product compared to CCH, …
Canopy works efficiently for all the companies, more so the CPA firms and other programs have no such advancement. The existence of an individualized client portal from Canopy is a remarkable step. Canopy records the due dates for a project and checks them when they are near or …
Interface is so much cleaner and intuitive. Logics didn't have transcript delivery at the time and Canopy had it from the start. Overall pricing was 35% better.
I haven't really found any other product like Canopy. I've found many that if I put them together they might be a Canopy alternative but not just one program. For example, I've had one program for document storage, another for estimates and another for letters but in canopy …
Canopy is a hyper-CRM that does more than just track client interaction. It also does filing sharing in a way that's relevant to the client and constantly drives to client back to interacting with our firm.
I like Drake because it is cost effective, has many integrated features that Proconnect doesn't have. The client portal in particular and email features make it a better product. I don't use Proconnect for personal because the cost compared with OLT for personal returns …
I think ProConnect Tax Online is better than competitors. As I am new to my career, the only software I have used are ProConnect Tax Online, and Thomson Reuters Ultra Tax. I prefer cloud-based software, but I think Ultra Tax is easier software to learn on. It is easier to learn …
I use Proconnect Tax Online for individual returns, as mentioned. The software is not as user-friendly and not efficient for a professional tax preparer to use. I use other tax software as my primary software for that reason. I use Proconnect Tax Online only when my primary …
PTO is a solid product for a small/growing tax firm with a finite number of tax returns to prepare. If there is a high volume of tax returns that need to be prepared, a more robust desktop software may be better suited. Desktop product may provide more integration options to …
For many of the reasons previously stated in the review (ie. cloud based, client portal, QBO integration), I am a big fan of ProConnect Tax Online. Many competing products have been around far longer (Drake, for example, was one of the original collaborators with the IRS on the …
For accurate and remarkable accounting processes, Canopy is the program to embrace. One, it has the project accounting details where every resource has a detailed accounting feature. Again, matters on taxation and state compliance are professionally handled by Canopy. The tracking of the due dates for finishing a given operation is an incredible step.
It has been well suited to amend a return when I had a client that needed to get it amended. There wasn't any additional charge. When it wasn't well suited was when I had another tax return from a previous CPA and couldn't import it so I had to re-create the return.
As TheCPATaxProblemSolver, Canopy is a great timesaver in helping me complete IRS Offer In Compromises. An Offer in Compromise (OIC) is an IRS program that allows taxpayers to settle their liabilities for less than the full amount owed.
I use analytics contained in the state-of-the-art Canopy tax resolution software to calculate smart recommendations based on each unique case to arrive at the best solution and prepare successful cases.
Canopy tax has an all in one practice management software. It features Customer Relationship Management (CRM), Document Management, Workflow Management, as well as Billing and Invoicing
Cloud Based: The world is moving towards cloud based software and Intuit is on top of its game with ProConnect.
Tight Integration with Quickbooks Online (QBO): This is a real bonus if you are using QBO and want to integrate the client's Trial Balance into ProConnect.
Excellent Client Portal (IntuitLink): Using IntuitLink which is built into ProConnect, you can share document requests and documents with your client. You've also got a very user friendly visual "Client Organizer" rather than the clunky pile of paper based forms that many firms still use.
Support: Excellent online chat & support for resolving any issue while working in the software.
Flexible Pricing: Purchase as many returns as you need for tax season.
Canopy's time tracking feature is hard to get valuable data from without the pro version.
Canopy's dashboard for the workflow management could be better by providing a filter option of "Show me projects I'm assigned to and on which I am assigned to the current open workstep."
The support is, excellent and Intuit overall provides good support. Their customer service representatives are friendly and always assist with issues when needed. There are multiple ways to contact the support team. I have not sued them though very much for technical tax issues and primarily the customer service team when needed.
Canopy is a hyper-CRM that does more than just track client interaction. It also does filing sharing in a way that's relevant to the client and constantly drives to client back to interacting with our firm.
For many of the reasons previously stated in the review (ie. cloud based, client portal, QBO integration), I am a big fan of ProConnect Tax Online. Many competing products have been around far longer (Drake, for example, was one of the original collaborators with the IRS on the original e-file data format protocol). However, even given its shorter history, Intuit has shown again that it is a very innovative, cutting edge company that has loaded the product with tremendous features and rich functionality. I highly recommend the product, especially if you are running a tax practice that is more modern and makes use of technology.
Canopy has allowed us to reduce our dependence on an administrative assistant to communicate with our clients effectively through the document request feature in an engagement. It has a reminder system built in which frees our time.
The storage provided is robust enough that we have been able to eliminate our file server. We store all our client information in their individual record. Making some files visible to the client and and some not visible allows us to work remotely more effectively and not deal with problems with VPN over hotel networks.
Canopy combines multiple products into one platform that is seamless and consistent. It has helped us eliminate multiple programs used previously to complete these functions.
Just being the administrative assistant I can't really talk on ROI - that would be for my boss to address. But since our office strives to be completely paperless efiling fits in with our paperless narrative.
