Considered Both Products
Degreed
Chose Degreed
We did enough research to figure that Degreed was better. We did a free demo with both and decided to go with Degreed based on reviews and the way their system worked. The website is also easier to use, and more user-friendly. We do not regret our decision to have chosen Degreed.
Chose Degreed
You can't just buy a certification at Degreed.
Chose Degreed
It's not a fair comparison as they do different things. For what it is, Degreed does a great job of being a one-stop-shop.
Chose Degreed
I think that in a business setting, Degreed is more streamlined to benefit us than almost any other tool. Canvas is great in higher/lower education where the learning is the actual product. In a business setting, tools like Degreed and Bridge do a wonderful job helping our …

While it's nice to be able to instantly share your LinkedIn Learning certificates/badges to your LinkedIn profile, that's about the only advantage LinkedIn has over Udemy. LinkedIn is busy, bulky, and surprisingly lean on the back end. Udemy was both simple to use and …
Chose Udemy Business
Udemy Business offers a far superior selection of software development courses compared to other platforms.
Chose Udemy Business
I’ve explored other learning platforms like Coursera, LinkedIn Learning, Adobe Learning, MasterClass, BBC Maestro, and Skillshare. Each has its strengths. Coursera’s accredited programs are great for formal education, LinkedIn Learning has solid business and leadership content, …
Chose Udemy Business
Udemy Business has a video explanation with examples as well, whereas that site doesn't. Video explanations are actually better for easy learning.
Chose Udemy Business
Udemy Business has a wide range of course options to engage with, but a diverse mix of content creators.
LinkedIn Learning content is generally well-produced and creators are vetted, which gives more assurance of quality.

Chose Udemy Business
Udemy Business has a more "fun" brand. However, LinkedIn learning has higher quality courses and instructors. The videos are professionally shot, the editing is great, and the sound quality is good. In my opinion, some of the courses/instructors on Udemy Business are …
Chose Udemy Business
Udemy Business is a lot cheaper, but I believe you get what you pay for.
Some of the other sites are more professional while Udemy Business is cheap and cheerful, more for individuals than for serious companies.

I would put Udemy for Business above Coursera and Udacity but below LinkedIn Learning as LinkedIn Learning provides better personalization experience. I'm assuming this is because LinkedIn has data about my profession and certifications and hence they are able to recommend …

Chose Udemy Business
I'd say Udemy is the best, or amongst the best, because it has so much content, is easy to use, and integrates with large businesses quite well.

We selected Udemy for Business because it offered such an enormous variety of courses that are relevant to software development. While Pluralsight offers a large selection too, it's often not as specific on a given topic as Udemy for Business is, and moreover, the courses on …

Degreed is a software that is undoubtedly worth integrating in companies that plan or require the teaching of new topics and material to their employees. This platform is very easy to use, the interface is easy to use and provides detailed information on the learning that each of the employees has had, these learning details can be viewed by accessing the profile section of each employee. Degreed allows you to share strategic material with employees in the form of a "playlist" so that they can learn in an order of all the information. In addition, it allows you to create all kinds of certifications to provide employees with certificates based on behavior, evidence and approvers. These three certification phases make it possible to verify the information learned by the employee, in addition, they allow it to be known how much he has learned and what skills he has developed during that learning period. Without a doubt, Degreed is the best option for all companies that want to add learning content for their employees.

Cons
  • Keeping in touch with co-workers in the same team is a little hard.
  • The news feed can be distracting with too many articles thrown at you.
  • Hard to keep track of most popular courses.

  • One of the biggest problems of this platform is the credibility of their certificates because they are not endorsed and don't have the support of a university as other platforms do.
  • Anyone can upload a course, so sometimes you will have a bunch of options, but you really don’t know which one is the best for you among all of them.
  • Another thing that I don’t like about Udemy is that the platform is not very well organized, everything looks crowded.

Usability

First, creating custom courses was super easy and intuitive (unlike with their main competitor). Second, using Udemy to take courses was also intuitive and simple. Finally, though, the kicker for what makes Udemy super useful is its reporting and analytics. Again, Udemy's main competitor surprisingly lacks a ton of features related to reporting. I miss Udemy!

Support Rating
While it's great for the management and tracking of employees learning, there is still room for growth. It could use more courses and content developed by Degreed rather than relying on external platforms content.

I haven't had to contact Udemy for Business for support reasons. I gave a 10 here because of it's availability across numerous platforms: Web, Windows, Mac, iOS, Android, even smart-tv apps make it trivially convenient to do some learning wherever you are. This helps my reports engage better with their learning, especially if they prefer to defer the training until the couch at home after work. It just makes for great user experience.

Return on Investment
  • It has allowed employees to keep track of their learning progress, as well as allow them easy access to all courses across available platforms.

  • Udemy for Business easily pays for itself compared to traditional training solutions. Given the breadth of courses it offers, it will make up its costs in short order.
  • My team is more engaged with learning, now having a large and "freely" available library of course content. This enables them to explore and learn at their own pace, which is a huge benefit to the company - they are always learning things that could be applicable in the future.
  • As I mentioned before, I'd caution against Udemy for Business in settings where the students will need to ask a lot of question or get some immediate feedback. It can be challenging for students approaching a new skill to do so without real-time support.
