Is Calyx Point even a thing anymore? I recall using Calyx Point years ago but don't remember it being able to do half of what Encompass is capable of doing. Encompass alone being able to communicate to 3rd party systems is a major time saver something Point was never able to …
Datatrac and Byte Pro, are solid LOS systems. I have also work on many proprietary systems, and all have been superior to Encompass. Encompass needs to be retired from the instrusty as a whole. There are long standing issues with major outages/crashing. If a mortgage lender is …
I initially considered other origination software but decided on Encompass because of the other lenders in my area that are also using it, and because it has so many built-in exports.
There are a few other LOS options but most are simple POS systems rather than an all-inclusive loan system. Competitors include: BlackKnight, LendingQB, CalyxPoint and MortgageBot LOS.
I am a long time user of Calyx software. I have loved using Calyx for most of my career. Early on, I did experience Encompass once and I felt it was too "management centric" at the time. After coming back to it now, I realize that my original feelings were more about …
There is no comparision. Point can not do even a fraction of what Encompass can. Their user interface is convoluted and hard to use and doesn't have any way to upload documents into the loan file. Encompass allows documents to be loaded straight to the loan file which makes …
Overall Ellie Mae is a more complete all in one software if you have time to learn it or money to spend to get it setup initially. Once you get past that point I believe the annual cost will be much cheaper than the other leading loan origination software company. If you are …
Most MLOs are familiar with Encompass. This makes recruiting easier. Hiring administrators is easier than other LOS. The fact that Encompass is used so widely helps you find better employees to customize the LOS as well as fully utilize it. Even without the SDK the screen …
I have not been on Calyx since going to Ellie Mae in 2010/2011, but Ellie Mae's technology was far superior than it at that time. The e-sign abilities and the pipeline organization was fantastic. I felt like Encompass was the loan system that was most able to adapt to …
Ellie Mae comes with the highest recommendations. I admire them for their creative work and their willingness to "give to their partners first". I did myself a favor and aligned myself with them.

I've used Calyx and other bank proprietary systems in the past. I'd never want to build or be with a bank who was building their own system. It's just too hard. With Ellie Mae's investment into the technology and compliance, a proprietary system is bound to have more …
Over the years I've used Genesis, Loan Contour, Calyx Point, and various proprietary. Hands down...Encompass is by far the easiest to navigate (especially for the Production Division), highly efficient, and very easy on the eyes.
Encompass is a very robust tool that would work great for companies that have strong organizational process with defined user roles in place. I would recommend anyone considering implementing it to carefully map out every step from lead generation to loan delivery. It’s important to involve compliance and audit as well as origination and post closing with every decision for best execution.

One of the items that were difficult initially is that we pay for the software and have to pay an additional monthly fee for each closing package. For a small lender that is a huge expense.
The online application is a great asset to us and is going to help us to be competitive in our market.
