Considered Both Products
Equatio
Chose Equatio
These are comparable products for ease of use, although only Equatio works with Google Forms.
Chose Equatio
It doesn't. I think Mat Type is superior.
Chose Equatio
Equatio is an excellent complement to the above-mentioned extensions. We needed to have access to software that would help us in these stem subjects. Equation meets this criterion perfectly. It is quite helpful that Equatio can be embedded into orbit note when used in a PDF file.
Chose Equatio
It the past I have tried using the symbols editor on google slides but has not been as easy to navigate in comparison to Equatio.
Chose Equatio
Each product has benefits over the other. MathType's older versions had their head and shoulders above their competition. Their new version removed a lot of features, integration, and capabilities. Equatio is starting to take the lead over MathType and is evolving constantly.
Nearpod
Chose Nearpod
Outside of Miro, Nearpod is my favorite program for leading a lesson. If I am presenting, and not requiring my students to perform any activities, then I really like Miro for presentations. If I have a large class, then I still prefer Nearpod to all others. Additionally, the …
Chose Nearpod
I don't know of a product off hand that does what Nearpod can do. Between the library of pre-made lessons, the ability to create your own lesson content, the ability to add interactive content, Nearpod offers a unique engagement platform for instruction.
Chose Nearpod
The custom, integrated, online content, along with school libraries, makes this product superior to PearDeck. Nearpod exceeds PowerPoint because of the ease of use, the student paced lessons, and the ability to embed CFUs.
Chose Nearpod
Nearpod stacks up well to alternatives because of growing LMS integrations.

If I have a student doing higher-level math, Equatio would be my recommended tool for digital access. However, it has too many options and would be confusing for younger students. Kami, Google Docs, or Kiwi Write math would be better for those students. It is also very pricey, so we would choose a cheaper tool to do the job.

While there is some learning curve to fully understand and know how to lead a lesson with Nearpod, once mastered successfully, Nearpod lessons are simple to create and deliver. When leading a lesson, it is relatively simple to see how everyone in the class performs and how well they participate and understand.

Support Rating
Anytime I have had an issue with text help software, the support team is always very helpful. When necessary, we have phone conversations or video meetings to troubleshoot the situation. This means that the solution happens very quickly. Often, they ask me for a screenshot or video to help them replicate the issue.

The support staff for Nearpod is top-notch. I have not had technical issues, but I did have a concern about my bill and they reached out to me nearly immediately to address the problem. I was very satisfied with how they handled the interaction from beginning to end. They did a great job.

Outside of Miro, Nearpod is my favorite program for leading a lesson. If I am presenting, and not requiring my students to perform any activities, then I really like Miro for presentations. If I have a large class, then I still prefer Nearpod to all others. Additionally, the more certain I am of what I want to do when, the more I like using Nearpod for lessons.

Return on Investment
  • Saved me lots of time looking for what I ultimately was able to create myself with Equatio
  • Mathspace is an invaluable. I wish We could assign things to the students and have them work and then send the assignment back to us. Right now we can only assign things to them.
  • Being able to talk to write equations is also a huge timesaver.
