Chose Fishbowl Inventory
Fishbowl Inventory is the accounting of items, component components, and raw materials used or sold by a firm. As a business owner, you manage inventory to ensure that you have enough product on hand and to identify when there is a shortage. Global supply networks change on a …
Fishbowl could be tailored to accommodate our needs and to integrate with other providers to offer the seamless work flow. Others that I investigated were much more expensive or couldn't do the tasks we were requiring. The final analysis was that Fishbowl offered a cost …
We looked at numerous other products for inventory control at my organization. However, our biggest concerns were that we had absolutely no prior inventory system outside of Excel. Therefore, we looked at Wasp [Inventory] as our entry-level tool to determine if we could …
Wasp is a standalone asset tracking application whereas IssueTrak's asset tracking was a module available in their helpdesk ticketing platform. It's not an apples to apples comparison at this point. Wasp I feel is more robust in the feature set available but IssueTrak has a …
This system was already in-place when I was initially hired, so I don't have a history of looking into other companies currently, with similar offerings.
The Wasp Inventory system is best designed for the small to mod-sized business that is looking to create an inventory system that goes beyond the utilization of paper or Excel options for managing product. Wasp [Inventory] provides an entry-level approach to inventory tracking that is ideal for those who are not looking for an in-depth system that can be utilized for your supply-chain needs. In the case of Wasp [Inventory] it is a very compelling choice for those who are new to inventory and looking to begin the inventory process.
Reporting: Many of the reports that are provided for free with Fishbowl are useless in the context of everyday manufacturing and production planning. Some reports provide inaccurate information. In order to use get useful and correct reports, outside developers must be paid (a new or modified report may cost anywhere from $150 to $2000)
Customer service can be hit or miss. In our experience, a knowledgeable person is rarely available, but for the most part customer service has no idea how real manufacturing works to provide reasonable answers to fix Fishbowl shortfalls.
We were looking at upgrading our version (we're currently running on-Premise Ver 7.0) - but they have now moved to a yearly recurring licensing model. The cost is about $3500/year for cloud-based Wasp Inventory - whereas our Version 7.0 was a one-time purchase. They also offer an on-premises version that costs about $6500 - and then a yearly 10% recurring charge on whatever the current cost of the software is being sold for. Neither options are appealing to our district whatsoever, so we will be staying with the version we have for the foreseeable future
Their online form to request product information for purchase doesn't seem to be well-maintained. I reached out three times over the course of three or four weeks before I finally got a response. And that was just that my information had been sent to a local reseller of their products. We used to be able to purchase directly from Wasp, but that appears to not be an option any longer.
Originally the support for Fishbowl was very poor. It was hard to get anyone to help. In the last 12 - 14 months, it has greatly improved and if it continues this way I would certainly rate it higher.
Fishbowl could be tailored to accommodate our needs and to integrate with other providers to offer the seamless work flow. Others that I investigated were much more expensive or couldn't do the tasks we were requiring. The final analysis was that Fishbowl offered a cost effective way for us to manage our business
