Considered Both Products
Forcepoint Email Security
Chose Forcepoint Email Security
While the Cisco Email was a close second, the customization of the Forcepoint Email Security policies and reports is what won us over.
Chose Forcepoint Email Security
Since Forcepoint is used widely in our organization, the integration between DLP web and Mail is amazing, and I didn’t find a good reason to split services between vendors if I have all the package in one place

AppRiver is very much a set and forget type of email filter with almost no configurability and no flexibility. I am sure AppRiver is good for those that don't want to have to configure it, and those that don't want to change the product (they just want to buy a service, and …
Chose N-able Mail Assure
We have used a few mail security options, including SpamStopsHere. Mail Assure is easier to manage and adapts as it learns the email traffic and patterns that come into the company. We use most of the SolarWinds suite, including MSPManager, N-central, Passportal, and Endpoint …
Chose N-able Mail Assure
Mail Assure was very close in all it's features, but lacked the secure email function. But the price difference between Mail Assure and Barracuda was significant enough to go this direction. Secure email is in development and will hopefully be available soon.

Works really well for spam filtering in emails for our clients. If you have a lot of employees you want to prevent phishing and spam from getting to them. We recently had a client that had their whole company blacklisted by Microsoft because a good number of their staff fell for phishing emails. We implemented Mail Assure and this has nearly eliminated the emails they had been getting.

Support Rating
The support could be better, but the good thing is rarely having to call them.

They were able to solve every issue I found and were able to explain what they did to resolve to avoid another call. Great support

AppRiver is very much a set and forget type of email filter with almost no configurability and no flexibility. I am sure AppRiver is good for those that don't want to have to configure it, and those that don't want to change the product (they just want to buy a service, and have it run with no customization to fit their organization). SolarWinds Mail Assure gives us the flexibility of filtering that we want.

Return on Investment
  • Even though Forcepoint solution is targeted high in terms of price, the added value it provides to an organization by securing their system in web and mail is tremendous
Read full review
  • It cut down on the amount of spam we get.
  • It can differentiate a email box from an alias attached so it must be specified to keep from being billed.
