Considered Both Products
Forefront Identity Manager (Discontinued)
Chose Forefront Identity Manager (Discontinued)
We selected Forefront because we know the support will be there for the long haul and its integration with other MS products.
Chose Forefront Identity Manager (Discontinued)
Forefront Identity Manager stacks up well against the competition as it is fast and efficient. It saves our IT department time by allowing users to manage their credentials. It has allowed our staff to sync our local on premises with the cloud. It offers these features that are …
Chose Forefront Identity Manager (Discontinued)
I've selected FIM because we use Windows Server 2008 R2 for terminal connections and it gives me a decent security layer to manage the identity lifecycle deployment from a single interface reducing the time and effort investment, and avoid dealing with extend coding procedures …
Chose Forefront Identity Manager (Discontinued)
It is Microsoft. We are a Microsoft shop, primarily. It integrates deeply with Active Directory making it good for Microsoft Active Directory shops.
RoboForm
Chose RoboForm
RoboForm is easier to use and more intuitive than the others in my opinion. It has more flexibility in what it can/will store.
Chose RoboForm
RoboForm is just generally easier to use than LastPass. I am in the computer business and I have set up both. RoboForm is by far easier in setup and use. LastPass is more complicated. My clients have changed to RoboForm once they see it in action. Plus I think RoboForm is …
Chose RoboForm
As noted earlier, I have not compared RoboForm with other password managers because it is the only password manager I have ever used and I have been satisfied with the software for at least 12 years (I frankly can't remember when I started using it but I know I was using it in …
Chose RoboForm
I honestly have not used any other products, I have used RoboForm before password managers became popular. I have seen other people use last pass and it did not seem as smooth.
Chose RoboForm
The number one alternative we see is LastPass. Many of our clients use it and are happy with it and I'm sure it's very close to RoboForm. I have personally used RoboForm for at least 10 years and have been extremely happy with it, so we did not do much comparing recently.
Chose RoboForm
I checked out Dashlane. I didn't see any clear advantages over Roboform.
Chose RoboForm
RoboForm and LastPass are very similar products, with similar features. It probably boils down to which interface you like better. I prefer RoboForm.

I cannot speak to enterprise or larger company use since I am a solo business owner. But for solo, very small, and small businesses it is a reliable, easy-to-use password manager. The cost has always seemed reasonable to me but I admit I have not shopped around because I've been happy with RoboForm - it is the only password manager I have ever used. A personal account, which is what I have, is $23.88 USD per year - they usually have a discount for the first year. If I had employees the business account might be worth it although I haven't investigated it. (It costs more - $39.95 per year per user for a one-year subscription). Discounts are available for 3-year and 5-year subscriptions.

Cons
  • Cloud integration needs some love. I think most companies nowadays have a hybrid model with some in-house and some cloud. A complete integration would be a huge win.

  • I have no difficulties with this app and therefore no suggestions for improvement. I'm not a software engineer. It works for me. I'm happy.

Return on Investment
  • Reduce the amount of time invested doing troubleshooting.
  • Reduce the IT admin complexity by presenting an intuitive UX with codeless provisioning.
  • IT Admins can simplify the process to create workflows with the web-based GUI of ILM 2 portal, and also include more complex workflows designed outside of the portal by importing XAML files.

  • The cost is not high so the ROI was easy as we use the program efficiently to save time looking for passwords elsewhere.
  • It would be nice if we could gain ROI on commissions from RoboForm where we resell it
