FortiMail vs. Trend Micro InterScan Messaging Security

FortiMail is a very flexible solution easy to install and use, any organization can use it whenever they require a virtual, physical, or cloud instance. Also, it is great to have an email archiver out of the box, you do not need any external product for it. The only thing that organizations need to consider before purchasing is service bundles - with the additional cost you can get Content Disarm and Reconstruction, URL click protection, Cloud Sandboxing, etc. (included in Enterprise Advanced Threat
Protection Bundle).

If your organization does not have any email security solution, its good to start off with Trend Micro InterScan solution. It helps against malicious emails and malicious traffic by filtering such content at the gateway level itself. With DLP customizable templates already in place place it reduces the TAT to deploy DLP content filtering rules. At the same time, it gives you real time protection against evolving or new threats. Management is easy as it provides single admin dashboard to control everything

I have used Barracuda Email Security in the past and FortiMail is just as effective. The interface is easy to use, and the configuration is straightforward in setting it up to work with Microsoft Exchange. Spam detection is effective, as well as malware/viruses and phishing attempts. Overall it is a great service.

Trend Micro InterScan Messaging Security is much cheaper than Kasprsky Security for Email Server. Trend Micro InterScan Messaging Security is easier to install and the maintenance effort required is much less than this required by Kasprsky Security for Email Server. However Kasprsky Security for Email Server does have a better GUI and does indeed offer a better protection degree. However, taking into account that both were tested behind a firewall, most of the threats had already been eliminated there...
