Chose Frase
Well Marketmuse and Frase may seem alternative to one another but we are using both of them in our workflow for different purposes. While MarketMuse is best for Topic Modeling, Frase gives you edge with competitive analysis like Headings, Questions and so on. So yeah some of …
Semrush's content and page optimisation tool is quite poor; it's not in the same bracket as Surfer.
Frase is a good alternative from a cost perspective (if not paying the AI writing functions), it's cheaper, and Frase's keyword/topic heatmaps are quite unique.
Frase gives a lot of content to use, but it doesn't give you the factors you need to rank. This is ultimately why we use SurferSEO over any other editor tool that is out there. The analytics are number one to the entire space.
Recommended for creating content outlines, rewriting content, research, etc. I would not recommend to use it as a full-fledged article writer or product descriptor. The Google Search Console integration feature is also worth trying. Recommended for small teams or individuals.
SurferSEO is a powerful and technical SEO tool for any writer to rank on Google. It would be too much information, even overwhelming at times, for someone who has never had experience with this kind of work before, but there's tons of detailed knowledge available when it comes to understanding the features that are most relevant while still meeting your goals in mind.
Create outlines from pages that are already ranking for a particular keyword. It performs SERP analysis to find common headings and sections amongst the pages.
Generate content for different types of sections. You can also use custom prompt, or select of the pre-defined types to generate. For e.g., convert features to benefits.
Get detailed analysis of website SEO performance from Google Search Console. Find pages that quickly gain/loose ranks.

While MarketMuse is best for Topic Modeling, Frase gives you edge with competitive analysis like Headings, Questions and so on. So yeah some of their features overlap each other but as I told earlier, we are using both of them in complement to each other.

Frase is a good alternative from a cost perspective (if not paying the AI writing functions), it's cheaper, and Frase's keyword/topic heatmaps are quite unique. Sufer has a better UI and a shorter learning curve. It has an advantage in that it offers internal linking recommendations, which Frase lacks. Surfer also has limited competitor analysis (backlinks and page speed), which Frase does not. Both tools allow you to choose the number of competitors on the SERPS
We have published around 12 pieces with the guidance of this tool, and we are already ranking on top for around 10 pieces, so we are getting almost 20x ROI
