iWave offers their nonprofit fundraising intelligence platform, for performing prospect research online with VeriGift, the company's donor and donation database.
I think Little Green Light will be a better alternative. We are currently building the online form so that our donation landing page can link directly with LGL and we’re hoping to cut Give Lively as the middleman platform out of our tech stack.
We use them both and find them to work well together. Windfall is hands down better in terms of confidence of the matching, but Iwave gives us the ability to go deeper into what makes up their capacity, for example seeing real estate records.
W e originally selected iWave because w e believed the return on our ROI would happen faster than it would with Donor search. Looking back, I wish we had realized that is kind of how it goes with major giving in general. We also didn't have a system the linked to Donorsearch at …
iWave is the best prospect research platform we have used. The customer service is far beyond Blackbaud/Target Analytics. The information is cleaner, easier to find, and reports are great.
Before iWave, I would use GuideStar and advanced google searches for my research. iWave makes prospect research so much easier by compiling multiple data sources into one software program that can be easily searched simultaneously using the 360search. There are several other …
Prior to selecting iWave, we used demo versions of WealthEngine and DonorSearch. While these products seem good as well, we ultimately decided to go with iWave for three reasons:
360 search across all platforms was the most intuitive for our users
Associate/Assistant Director, Prospect Research & Prospect Management
Chose Kindsight iWave
iWave is affordable, offers current data, and is continually adding new data sources. They are the only product that offers international prospect information, which is helpful as our institution borders Canada. I was impressed when our sale representative went out of his way …
I've used all three of the above products -- and they are all good. It is hard to compare them, because it has been more than four years since I used them. At the time I switched to iWave, I found the user interfaces in the above programs less than optimal in terms of …
I've used a variety of screening tools and iWave is the most user-friendly. The platform is very easy to use and the results have a quick turnaround. The new integration with Raiser's Edge makes the process even smoother for us.
I liked previewing WealthEngine and its feature to identify high-net-worth individuals, but believe Kindsight iWave has more robust features and ability to identify middle-managers/lower level employees despite not being 'high net worth'. I generally work with middle to …
Kindsight iWave has always outperformed in the number and accuracy of the results given from a query as well as the different features that they offer.
I like it's user interface the best out of all of the sources I use. The information can be trusted and it is user friendly. All my stock, philanthropy, real estate, and contact info can be found in the one place.
If you’re not using another service or CRM to manage online forms, then you’ll need something like Give Lively. However, there are so many products with robust feature lineups that can be used to centralize work efforts that a singularly faceted product falls flat.
iWave is a great resource for getting a big picture understanding of a donor and their potential alignment to your organization. There may be times if you are wanting to dive deeper into a particular facet of the donor profile that you would need to continue researching through other sources. Overall iWave has a user-friendly interface and is a must-have program for any prospect researcher.
iWave is very user friendly. It did not take long at all to figure out the most efficient way to use their website. There are many Training Webinars and a support center. Customer Support is very helpful.
The credits you purchase are only used if you use a batch screening. Individual screening is unlimited.
We have found that the information discovered in iWave about our donors is up-to-date and accurate.
The Foundations/Charities search function is particularly helpful. You are able to see the financials, 990s, grants awarded, and the people connected to the organizations all in one place without having to search the internet.
The reporting functionality leaves something to be desired. In my opinion, it's hard to find and confusing to understand what timeframe you’re looking at.
It’d be nice to be able to customize export fields before download. There’s a lot of extra info provided to sift through.
The biggest piece of missing functionality has been data integration with Raiser's Edge, but iWave is working feverishly with Importacular to make that an option for users as well. I expect that process to be more user-friendly in the next year or so.
I love that iWave is always adding new data sources to their 360 Search with Database USA being the newest piece. I hope the "COMING SOON" section of that data source will be populated soon.
I feel this product is much less user friendly than others I’ve used in its place. I feel I spend too much time searching the overly complicated navigation menus and dealing with export cleanup.
I think it's very usable, but think the variety of different search functions, search by features can get confusing and overwhelm the user. I would prefer a "master" search function instead of having the user need to figure out to search by company name, employee's name, employee's title, etc. The website is a great resource and my team utilizes its uses often.
iWave customer support is more responsive than most software platforms I currently use. My requests are always handled promptly, and support is incredibly responsive, friendly, and patient. Plus, I can always get someone on the phone immediately if I need a problem resolved right then and there. In addition to the live and personal support, the iWave knowledge base is frequently update with new content, including video webinars that help you become a more powerful user of the software.

W e originally selected iWave because w e believed the return on our ROI would happen faster than it would with Donor search. Looking back, I wish we had realized that is kind of how it goes with major giving in general. We also didn't have a system the linked to DonorSearch at the time and iWaves reports pulling seemed simpler for our database type.
Every year following our annual gala we run a list of all event attendees to learn more about their interests and giving history. This has led us to new board and/or major donor candidates.
iWave helps us understand details and less-known interests of our current donors, which helps us with donor stewardship. In today's digital age, these personal details help craft relevant stewardship and communications plans with our existing supporters. With so many competing charities, these small differences can account for a supporter to choose your organization over others who aren't making that personal connecting to the donor.
