mRemoteNG is a fork of mRemote, an open source, tabbed, multi-protocol, remote connections manager.
Teamviewer is much more useful for transferring files, but its changing interfaces and neeedless complexity make it less than ideal for our routine use
Synology was difficult was difficult to log into and also find the correct files. I could access the files but any changes did not automatically save to the computer. There was no technical support to help understand how to use the program. We do not have an IT person in our …
I have used some other programs that only allowed file retrieval, but I couldn't use some of the files because you had to have the program on the remote computer and, therefore, had limited use. I also tried using Windows remote capability but ran into issues that made it …
Biggest issue what the printer settings would get messed up everytime we tried to print remotely & then our point of sale receipts and pricing labels would not work properly.
I know LogMeIn and GoToMyPC merged, but I didn't like the LogMeIn format. It was harder to use. I was forced into it because GoToMyPC didn't support one of my devices.
Every now and then I do look to see if there is any other software that can bring together multiple remote access protocols in a single interface that can contain multiple connections to remote devices with image scaling to mage use of a windowed interface and have yet to find …
mRemoteNG is far more useful than LogMeIn when on the same network, or VPN as the servers, as it allows multiple server screens open in multiple tabs. LogMeIn is much more useful when working out of the office for its ability to connect anywhere, but each system accessed is in …
I highly recommend GoToMyPC if you need to more than a mere data access, but need to virtually be sitting in front of a remote computer. The ability for the user on the other end to watch your actions is also very helpful
mRemote is well suited if you need to manage multiple types of servers and/or network devices. Instead of opening a dedicated Putty session and having to manage all of the windows, mRemote can handle all of this with different tabs. If you only have a few devices (less than 10), mRemote could be overwhelming for the need and not quite match up with what you are needing.
Tabbed Views. Each server remote desktop is viewed in its own separate tab, similar to a web browser. This makes it much quicker and easier to switch between them than using separate windows.
Storing credentials. You can configure it with log on credentials for each system, saving time on accessing as you don't need to enter a password each time.
Multiple connection types. I use the traditional RDP the most, but mRemoteNG allows many different connection types, similar to Putty.
On occasion an email or a program document does not print at home.
I save to hard drive at home and will have to log out of GoToMyPC to access the file on my external hard drive, email it, and the log back in. Not a big deal.
I have been using GotomyPC for 20 years and it's gotten better with time. It's the best remote app that I've tried. The others were harder to use and not as functional. It allows us to work from anywhere just as if we were in the office. Even being able to print to my remote location is a wonderful way of doing work. I don't have to drag it to my remote device, It will just print without any hassle
Really easy to use-even if you forget your password frequently like me. The reset password feature is not cumbersome and does not require phoning Customer Service. Just a few clicks and a bit of creativity to come up with a new password. I like this "easy button" approach. Definitely recommend.
It's very easy to setup and use. The tree structure organizes the multiple connections in a hierarchical manner which makes it easy to browse and the tabbed browsing make it simple to switch between multiple ongoing connections You can even export the list of connections and import it to another setup.
The performance is dictated by the internet connection speed. As long as I have a good connection, the performance is great. And GoToMyPC has a warning when either the host or the client has a poor connection
I have never had to contact support. The product is so easy to use I have not needed help (yet). But if I had to contact them, I am sure they would be just as great to work with as the product itself is.
It set up quickly and assigning log ins to various computers was simple. I don't think you need many insights into the product. It's easy to implement and easy to use. Since it's a work tool, it needs be that way. I wouldn't want the tool to have any learning curve when some of the people using it are not tech savvy. They are accessing their work computers for files or to work on apps that their remote devices might not have loaded.
I have used some other programs that only allowed file retrieval, but I couldn't use some of the files because you had to have the program on the remote computer and, therefore, had limited use. I also tried using Windows remote capability but ran into issues that made it difficult for a non-IT person to easily deal with.
mRemoteNG is far more useful than LogMeIn when on the same network, or VPN as the servers, as it allows multiple server screens open in multiple tabs. LogMeIn is much more useful when working out of the office for its ability to connect anywhere, but each system accessed is in a separate window making navigation a little tricky. Sometimes I use them in tandem however, LogMeIn to access a machine in my network, then mRemoteNG to access multiple machines from there!
I can use it on all of my devices - even my Galaxy phone. Once you log into your device, you work on it as if you were physically in front of it. Not much complexity in that. If you can work on your own device, you can work on it through another device - even a phone.
GoToMyPC has had a positive impact on my ROI as a small business.
After completing the last questions, it appears that I am not fully utilizing all the features that are available and I could have an even greater experience if I am able to learn more about these unused offerings within GoToMyPC.
