It's great for data discovery and analyzing the quality of that data, and it's great for managing that catalog with strong rules and policies. It has an easy policy management and data governance rules and has a very good graphic tool to show the integration between business terms and physical data not good for managing data privacy and mapping personal data handling processes

However, implementation depends on what implementation strategy or approach the company is adopting. In real-time scenarios, the tool can be used for generating data profiling and data quality reports as well. Business rules for data quality checks can be built into the tool and can be assigned to end or business users.

The IBM Watson Knowledge Catalog is a great amount of storage for the price. It is easily accessed by all users in the company. It provides great search features and clear pathways to locate documents. This is great for the team and our client when needing access to a specific document.

In the case of this organization, Information Steward was part of a suite from SAP together with Data Services and SAP Master Data Governance. In terms of the overall package it was worth it for the company. Informatica cost was higher and the overall benefit from SAP package was the key decision point.
