Study Island, from the e-learning company Edmentum, is a learning management system plus e-learning content package (math, ELA, science, and social studies) for K-12 schools. At the student level, it includes tools for immediate feedback and built-in remediation, designed to help teachers…
MasteryConnect is a more affordable option for our medium-sized nonprofit. MasteryConnect fits our needs without being "too much" software. Illuminate and PowerSchool are more built for large school systems while we are a standalone organization with only about 250 students.

I love that MasteryConnect already has hundreds of standards built-in, like the ACT readiness and socioemotional learning standards my after-school program uses. I think MasteryConnect would be harder to implement for an educational institution using learning standards not already in MasteryConnect. In my time using and assisting in the use of Study Island, I have seen teachers between K-5 grade use this program. Students in younger grades may find this program challenging to use independently, causing teachers to assist rather than use that time to work with another student simultaneously. Intermediate grade students can become bored with some of the games and lose interest. This program seems best suited from 1st to 4th grades.
