Additional DetailsUser Engagement is at the heart of every business. It is the reason that drives business growth. Businesses focussing on creating contextual communication to engage users, will outpace everyone else. This is our mojo - to help you engage your users and create delightful moments. Yes, that really is our mission. We understand that whether you are small business or a large business or just a One-Person-Army, restricting number of websites per account where you wish to use iZooto is frustrating. For this precise reason, we have consciously stepped away from the number of websites per plan model. So when you create an account on iZooto, you can add any number of websites and any number of users to manage those web properties for yourself.

iZooto
Chose iZooto
OneSignal is free up to a very high limit, whereas iZooto is paid. But OneSignal is only suitable for posting notifications about news articles, whereas iZooto has cart abandonment. That alone makes it a no brainer. Also, the custom prompts to subscriptions add a nice touch and …
Chose iZooto
We use a few more tools regularly, but specifically for browser push we found iZooto to be the most focused player and the pricing to be reasonable. The monetization layer that they provide for publishers like us is a big value add. We continue to use different tools for …
OneSignal
Chose OneSignal
OneSignal comes with a free plan and easy integration, unlike CleverTap which has a starting price of $200 per month and a difficult integration process. That is why we selected OneSignal instead of CleverTap.
Chose OneSignal
I believe OneSignal is an all around better platform than Push Owl. I am very happy we made the migration from Push Owl to OneSignal.
Chose OneSignal
In my opinion, OneSignal documentation / API is more friendly [than] Firebase. Maybe because Firebase is already "too big," but OneSignal is focused on one solution that giving our notification through to our customer. In that case, OneSignal is chosen by our company. Several …

Chose OneSignal
OneSignal is the one that has more integrations with plugins, external API and that is completely free and easy to install. They have a very good UI with many options and they will never ask for money to use this service. You can have unlimited subscribers and you can send …
Chose OneSignal
OneSignal is much more user-friendly, is free to use, and integrates with many more services. After the great redesign of OneSignal, it has become even better: easy localizations of the push, A/B tests and templates work great. Besides, there are a number of parameters you can …

iZooto is great if you have a case where you are selling something to consumers on your site. Or are looking to re-target them after they came to you. It may not be suited for targeting existing customers of a SaaS company who have already been acquired, when you've got the user locked in. However it can be useful to retarget the top level funnel of a SaaS company and increase leads.

I think One Signal is very well suited for mobile app owners who want to be in touch with their user base more easily by sending push notifications and in-app messages. I'm not sure how well that works for SMS messaging as I haven't yet tried it. I wouldn't necessarily recommend it if your in-apps are very rare.

Cons
  • Their WordPress plugin works but is a bit glitchy when you try to override a post's default settings in the notification
  • More opportunities to brand the opt in prompt would be great -- with, say, our logo, though I am not sure it's supported by browsers
  • There is no clear way to UNSUBSCRIBE from prompts, unlike with OneSignal.

  • They should develop features a bit faster as per user requirements.
  • Old users should get freemium model for new features.
  • Admin can look a bit better.
  • In-built and easy to use segmentation should be there too.

I give an 8 in this question mainly for 2 reasons: the products even if they look like complete and are highly customizable and usable, they are still missing some logical features. For example, send messages to a list of users - now days you can do it with postman and get calls. A second example is App messaging that is still in development and has many opportunities.

Support Rating
They were on top of things right away when I reported an issue with their WordPress plugin, or when I needed to switch from Shopify to WordPress. Very hands-on and responsive. They have built-in live chat support in their app, though it would be nice if they incorporated it into their WordPress plugin too, so I didn't have to leave WordPress to report issues.

Their customer support has been top-notch. They are able to assist you in getting through any problems that you may have and respond in a very timely manner. I've dealt with them on 4-5 instances over the years and my issues were always resolved within a matter of a few business days.

OneSignal is free up to a very high limit, whereas iZooto is paid. But OneSignal is only suitable for posting notifications about news articles, whereas iZooto has cart abandonment. That alone makes it a no brainer. Also, the custom prompts to subscriptions add a nice touch and a way to start a non-generic relationship from the very first touch.

Look Firebase is a complete platform that includes a Push notification/InApp space. We had a lot of troubles while implementing Firebase: sometimes we thought it was ready until we tried to attach an image for Push notifications. This being said, the developers had to review the integration several times until we decided to change to OneSignal. Also while using Firebase I was not convinced with the look and feel of the Notifications. My vote here is OneSignal.

Return on Investment
  • I bought iZooto as a lifetime deal when it was on early beta, so the ROI is high. I am about to transition a major news property I manage on to iZooto from OneSignal as it allows for easy segmentation and cart recovery, which OneSignal does not offer, at least anywhere near as easily.
  • We spend up to $20 on user acquisition, and since implementing iZooto, that number has gone down to closer to $15. Still, I cannot say if the whole gain is from iZooto, as attribution is messy, but I'm sure it has contributed to our efficiency.
  • Push notifications are the 4th highest source of referrals for us, so it's bringing users back.

  • We've seen direct-purchase conversions on new offers.
  • It does a great job of driving traffic to off-site locations like YouTube for new videos.
