Considered Both Products
KeyShot
Chose KeyShot
KeyShot is easier to use and select materials.
Chose KeyShot
The rendering capability with SolidWorks PhotoWorks is pretty good but takes time to learn and is a little cumbersome compared to KeyShot. KeyShot offers a SolidWorks plug-in that works great allowing the user to export models directly from SolidWorks to KeyShot.
Chose KeyShot
Keyshot is simpler and more intuitive compared to Octane. That being said, Octane is far less expensive and can take advantage of a GPU making it more versatile.
QuarkXPress
Chose QuarkXPress
QuarkXPress has more user-friendly features compared to Adobe InDesign where we can set up the page layout for any sort of medium. We can compress the pdf size here as per the requirement. Also, we can export pdf in a quicker manner by choosing it as a default output format.
Chose QuarkXPress
QuarkXPress simply blew the competition out of the water when it came to pricing and scalability in our business. Every employee that uses Quark always speaks very highly about using the software. We are not a large company but, the amount of money saved on the cost of each …
Chose QuarkXPress
My preference has always been QuarkXPress because I have more experience. InDesign is a similar program, just used differently for our journal layout design.
Chose QuarkXPress
InDesign is also very strong and the industry standard. However, Quark does retain:
1 The older format of page layout programs, which is a bridge for new and older employees.
2. Is less expensive.

Keyshot is great for quick renders and its ability to make changes for a fast production pipeline. Since I primarily use it for concept art and making environments, it is not the best when handling larger scenes as it will take a toll on the CPU.

If you are looking for a great design solution that does not break the bank then QuarkXPress is the way to go. We use Quark not only due to the low cost but, the customer support is amazing and every year you get a new release with updates that you never knew you needed. Quark's development team takes on suggestions and often will implement some of them if the need is great enough. I cannot express the saving of time and money enough when it comes to using QuarkXPress.

Cons
  • Keyshot is very expensive compared to other software that could potentially do the same thing at a fraction of the cost.
  • Keyshot does not rely on GPU rendering so relying on a fast CPU is key.
  • You are not able to modify geometry like a standard 3D software.

  • Currently does not have a way to open really old archived QuarkXPress files.
  • Text manipulation could be expanded upon (ie be able to warp or distort text).
  • Be able to output files in InDesign format.

This is an industry standard. It is intuitive and pretty simple. I have been using it for 40 years and by no means do I use its potential, rather it does just what I want it to do.

Honestly, I've only needed customer support a couple of times. One time was a question about licensing which their customer service explained very well and offered just the help I was looking for
