Open Web Analytics is an open source web analytics software product licensed under GPL and provides website owners and developers with ways to add web analytics to their sites using simple Javascript, PHP, or REST based APIs. OWA also comes with support for tracking websites made with content management frameworks such as WordPress and MediaWiki.
This was a customer decision (we are a marketing agency), but Lead Forensics stacks up well against the competitors. As an agency, we like more data, but for what the sales team needed in Lead analysis from the website, this is a powerful tool.

Lead Forensics data was more accurate and in-depth. I pay more for it but get a larger volume of leads. I also find the contacts to be better too. I did a test between the two and the accountant manager was less salesy and helped me learn the product and its benefits.

Lead Forensics is a leader on its side, but the other platforms can do more tracking and give you more details about the visits and can target to an exact person. They are all great tools and each one has its [own] special ability to help you close more deals.

When you have people coming to your website and you want to know which pages they look at, how long they are there, and when they leave. Also when you want to know their industry, their company, and what led them to your website. You can really get a customer profile.
Open Web Analytics is an opportunity for those that like to have skeletons for the start of customized solutions. The package offers several best practices set of features and functions. The possibilities add up to higher performance API for example from Google Analytics. The vast of additional features are of higher value because the market does not have other solutions. There are solutions around Open Web Analytics for example in SAP Design Studio that integrate beyond Content Management systems and attached Shops Systems to Warehousing, Logistics, and Deliverment Management. The market situation are covering all that is possible and has demand. The universality is implemented at the user interface and therefore unmatched and even robust for new kinds of visualization interfaces or input device types. A draw is that against payment system remains a security gap and data security and data safety might be a topic for each customer and user.
Lead Forensics helps us see which companies are visiting our site, even if they don’t fill out a form. This gives us a chance to reach out to businesses that are already showing interest but might not have contacted us yet.
Instead of cold-calling random prospects, we can see which pages a company has viewed and how often they return. This helps us tailor our conversations based on what they’re actually interested in.
The Lead Forensics support team has been great whenever we’ve had questions. They’re quick to respond and always ready to help, whether it’s troubleshooting an issue or offering advice on how to get the most out of the platform.
Better updates on companies' current names. Often if a company was a different company years ago it still says the old company name which is confusing.
Better identifying the correct location. Sometimes it seems like that the location coming up is the wrong location.
Giving a better understanding of how they got to the website would help too. Often is says "direct" but I would like to know if it was via a link from an email or what
Lead Forensics dashboard is fantastic. Lets me see what companies are hitting what parts of the website so I know what to offer them. Often times I’ll offer one thing, only to get told no. Then the client goes to the website and pokes around at other things we offer. Then they reach out to me asking about different services, or next time I reach out I can offer what they were looking at.
[Their] support is great, [whether] you call or send in an email. They are always friendly and willing to help. Anytime I can’t figure something out and need to reach out, I always get a response back quick[ly] - and they will always offer to go in and make the change, but I like when they show me so I can do it next time.

The features and functions of Open Web Analytics compare close to Matomo Analytics. In terms of market share Google Analytics has all and the other two have very little and their other competitors have almost nothing. That changes in specialized markets. Google Analytics is everywhere and much more influential than other search engines because of that particular service. There had been a dying period for such web analytics software packages. There are three kinds of web analytics software packages. Free/open source like Open Web Analytics and Matomo, Proprietary like Urchin from Google, and hosted/software-as-a-service-packages like the market leader Google Analytics. I consider all as rather different in performance. Those closer to the busiest server are the best for traffic. Heat maps are well placed on the hosting server.
We are still in the very early stages of using Lead Forensics for our agency, but I can see that it could already be very useful to us as we haven't had insights like this previously.
Our very first use case with Lead Forensics was with a brand-new client and I would say it went exceptionally well. We were running a large media campaign for them, and it was very insightful to see how those specific businesses were getting to the site and what page they were going to. Like mentioned previously, this helped their very small sales team to go after businesses they know were interested in them.
