Chose M1
We replaced Open Systems with M1 7 years ago. Our Open Systems software seemed to be more user-friendly and was not overburdened by reports and processes that were not needed for daily functions.
Chose M1
M1 is light years ahead in overall cost and proficiency. It allows so much more control and flexibility as compared to its competitors. When choosing M1 we went through many demos and M1 was the only ERP that met our needs and still does. We also control our own data which is a …
Chose M1
M1 is better with the manufacturing side of software whereas Sage 100 is better at the financial side. Which is frustrating that M1 implementation people are not accountants, so they got us up and running but did not do a good job of making sure the GL accounts were setup …
Chose M1
Our customization requirements were not that high and based on a price/cost benefit M1 was the winner. SAP was considered but the upfront costs and challenging learning curve together with the lack of flexibility in the SAP HANA public cloud version made the M1 choice more …
Chose M1
We considered several other option but M1 was presented as the most flexible and robust option that could handle our custom manufacturing.
Chose M1
We looked at a couple of other software programs, but none of them could compare to M1 and the ease of using the software.
Chose M1
M1 does a good job of being able to handle our requirements. Some of our assemblies and sub-assemblies require a significant amount of detail and different levels in order to complete - and M1 handles that. Some of the other products I've used, or implemented else where fall …
Chose M1
This has been very similar to SYSPRO bit the team at ECI has been far more helpful.
Odoo
Chose Odoo
It is simple to use and the features in Odoo are more advanced compared to zoho. The cost of Odoo is also very less comparatively with other competitors that are available in market. Accessing the in depth reports is very easy with Odoo and a person with low executive level can …
Chose Odoo
Odoo is much easier to use than SAP and is much more adaptable and cost effective. Odoo is much more of a complete system than Quickbooks and more thorough in its approach. If you have a very basic business to run, Quickbooks could work, but if you have any customizations that …
Chose Odoo
We decided to go with Odoo over Netsuite due to a few factors. Price was a big reason why, Netsuite is the most expensive ERP we vetted. I also did not have a great experience with Netsuite at my last job. I was on the roll out team and it did not work as promised for POS, …

Chose Odoo
Odoo talks with our other software (shipping, website, etc.) while our old software did not. It is also a web-based product so it is easily accessible from home, mobile, etc. Before, if I needed to work from home for some reason, I had to project my office computer screen to my …
Chose Odoo
Odoo doesn't work. The promises of Odoo are amazing but i wouldn't recommend it.
Chose Odoo
we CAME from NetSuite (and should have stayed there!!) - but we thought Odoo would be better. Brightpearl was too expensive and too slow to implement - and we needed a system that could do the Spanish Legally mandatory Accounting reports...... and even here Odoo fails as no …
Chose Odoo
They don't even compare. Odoo is so bad with its UI it took me months to learn, and still be confused by it. Within less than a month using HubSpot I've surpassed my limitations and set up far more complex systems.
Chose Odoo
I feel This is the worst of them all.
Chose Odoo
I selected Odoo because it is all in the cloud online and it is very easy to conect from everywhere, but then it did nos suit what we wanted in other fields and the service was poor,so we deceided to cancel the contract, but never get our money back since november 2020.
Chose Odoo
Odoo offers great ease of use and time to market. You can build on modules and integration, not an issue since the system will say "before" setup what modules relate to what you want. And in some instances will even install needed modules without your having to guess.
Chose Odoo
Odoo firmly holds a strong position among its competitors. It is extremely easy to use and getting started is a few clicks away provided that you are using their online services. The good thing about Odoo is they have a good support which gives them slight edges on their …
Chose Odoo
While comparing Direkto with the Odoo, I'd say, only consideration of the UI is enough to see the vital advantage of the latter. Moreover, the specific functions are way [more] easily searchable through the Odoo than in Direkto.
Chose Odoo
Well, since I started my current job we use Odoo as ERP for everything, in my previous jobs I used other systems but they have nothing to do with this system, but personally, it is a very friendly and easy to use system, they trained me for a couple of days and it was quite …
Chose Odoo
Compared to Zoho, I think Odoo lacks some clear ease of use that Zoho provides out of the box. Mainly the easy importation of leads and conversion / tracking. Additionally Zoho analytics is easier to customize the dashboard from the menus. After some tinkering I think you can …

Implementation is by far the weakest link in the ECI/M1 process. Although the tool is powerful, the client is expected to drive the process of learning the tool, planning the meetings with consultants, identifying risks and making mitigation plans, etc. without any samples, guidance or assistance on the part of ECI. The tool is best suited to high volume, standard product manufacturers who build to inventory or to order without much variation. The shop floor routing and time tracking are straightforward if you can master the convoluted Unit Of Measure calculations. The tool is either hosted locally or accessed through Remote Desktop. Shop floor is web enabled but the main desktop for M1 is still a relay which makes connectivity a potential issue. Moving this platform to a truly web hosted environment would substantially improve connectivity and eliminate compatibility issues with Apple products

Implementation was a terrible experience for us. Because it required a third party, we ended up way over budget and schedule. While Odoo advertises that it works with many systems, these third-party integrations often don't work out of the box and require extensive coding to set up. Furthermore, these "apps" can frequently break or lose integration.

Pros
  • Manage inventory counts. Good precision on quantities in and out, through shipping, MI, MR, and receipts.
  • Job costing shows great details on labor, operations, and materials to be used. I wished that would do better in outside operations that would return, but we still think it is great.
  • Ability to track changes (changelog), showing all changes that had in a particular place. Such as where, when, and by whom a line item unit price was changed in a PO.
  • Link, traceability, keeping history. If done correctly, it is amazing to keep the history of a part/lot.
  • The amount of user rights/customization is unbelievable. It can be hard to set up in the beginning, but it is great that you can give some very specific access to a user, and it is not (in general) as a package.

  • Possibility to customize the fields and some workflows is rather simple and a lot of tutorials are available on the internet.
  • The community version is free as are most modules and some paying modules developped for specific purposes are available in the marketplace.
  • It is easy to configure products with accounting, everything is smooth.

Cons
  • Some of the functions are pretty detailed - and so they take a while to generate screens and pages in reports.
  • We actually use it for 2 companies we own - and it would be nice if the inter company communication was a little smoother. It's hard to share some data, and not everything is possible to be shared.
  • Customized reports need to backed up before any updates to M1 or they're lost. It seems M1 overwrites the report folders everytime you run an update - so you have to keep track of what you've changed in Crystal Reports and restore it.

  • We had to work with an implementation team to customize Odoo into something that could truly work for us.
  • I would like to be able to run some reports in an easier way.
  • We did have to implement the use of an iOT box as well for something like printing barcode stickers.

Usability
Because it would be helpful if ECI would provide better documentation, communication and workflows to understand how each field interacts within the system and how each of those touch other areas within M1. It would also be useful if ECI would provide prescheduled training for how to customize things with M1 through Design Studio

Once you complete the training with Odoo, you have a great grasp of how the system works, and most every feature is intuitive- There is rarely a task within Odoo that I get frustrated trying to figure out- I can typically look through the system and find what I need to do, and if I ever do need support, the Odoo Support team is excellent

Easy - there is NO SUPPORT (like in ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!!!!!!!). Even for legally mandatory requirements where the system MUST work, they will gladly take a month to get back to you with a NON-answer. We couldn't even get our bank statements correctly into Odoo for 2 months - leading to no reconciliation and the company accounts were a mess (still are!!) as a result - Completely irresponsible. Have not EVEN had an apology from Odoo - they couldn't care less !!

Alternatives Considered
Our customization requirements were not that high and based on a price/cost benefit M1 was the winner. SAP was considered but the upfront costs and challenging learning curve together with the lack of flexibility in the SAP HANA public cloud version made the M1 choice more natural. SAP Services is usually more expensive compared to M1.

Compared to Zoho, I think Odoo lacks some clear ease of use that Zoho provides out of the box. Mainly the easy importation of leads and conversion / tracking. Additionally Zoho analytics is easier to customize the dashboard from the menus. After some tinkering I think you can get the same thing with Odoo, it's language and logic just take some geting used to. Airtable provides similarly easy to customize dashboards that are aesthetically appealing. but lacks the ability to track the customer journey as effectively as Odoo or Zoho systems.

Return on Investment
  • Time savings having to only enter certain information once and have it follow through the entire order process from quote to cash
Read full review
  • It has helped us improve our purchasing and sales flow, now it is more organized, we can see which product was purchased from which supplier and which price is more convenient, very good
  • It helps to manage payments efficiently, and in less time than when it was managed manually, so it is a positive point that we can rescue in our organization.
  • In my case, managing inventory helps me more easily locate the most specific products that I require. Currently, we do not have details of mismatches with the products, so my inventory and my stock are kept perfectly updated.
