Other providers have been considered, such as Mulesoft and IBM. The choice for Tibco was primarily inspired because of the existing partnership, and the flexibility of their offering.
Chose Mashery (now part of Boomi)
For us, it was an easy decision as we used other TIBCO solutions that well integrated with TIBCO Cloud Mashery.
Chose Mashery (now part of Boomi)
Mashery, in its deploy anywhere approach, protects web and non-web applications. It is flexible and holds its own against AWS's Web Application Firewall.

Amazon API Gateway mainly. We find AWS is innovating very fast in the space. For the user's already with workloads running in AWS, it's easier to integrate with many other value add services like security and monitoring.

Chose Mashery (now part of Boomi)
When the evaluation of API Management was done, the market for a cloud, SaaS offering was limited. The short timeline for setting up TIBCO Cloud Mashery and the quick enablement of the developer portal have been major decision criteria.
Chose Mashery (now part of Boomi)
Mashery was already installed when I took over the project. I have not worked extensively with other platforms.
Chose Mashery (now part of Boomi)
I've really only looked at Mashery since it has been around a very long time and has a rich feature set. I do know our platform teams are looking into AWS gateway but not sure this product has everything we need.
Chose Mashery (now part of Boomi)
When we were first trying to identify an API Gateway provider, we evaluated Mashery and Apigee and chose Mashery because they were more competitive on cost. Now that we are with Mashery, we have not considered other vendors.

TIBCO Cloud Mashery allows you to quickly enable API access control and management together with quick and easy setup of the developer portal. It focuses on core API management with limited integration features (filters, adapters, orchestration) - so TIBCO Cloud Mashery is mostly suited in a setup which already addresses integration features with other products.

The case of the SAP Integration Suite shows outstanding capability in handling huge data, and especially when handling corporate portfolio data with multiple owners. But we have noticed that in the cases of moving data from the older banking system, it is necessary to further refine the system. It does an excellent job of the current credit scoring.

Pros
  • Throttling of requests helps prevent DOS attacks. Attackers try to wreak havoc wherever they can. Mashery helps you control your environments to throttle every endpoint independently.
  • The interface for setting endpoints is very intuitive and makes real-time adjustment easy to do.
  • TIBCO Cloud Mashery support is superb. I do not have to go to their website to know of any issues. They are proactive in communicating with their customers

Cons
  • Mashery should allow orchestration and transformation out of the box rather than it being a service or having to buy additional services.
  • The dashboard is easy to use but I think it needs a face lift and it needs to start using TIBCO Spotfire to make it more of a analytical engine.

  • Could be even more business friendly with programming language abstracted
  • Ability to simulate the integration flow instead of a real run
  • Have some kind of an AI-assistant suggesting the optimal design of an integration flow as it's being built (best practice assistant)

SAP Integration Suite is very helpful to us in many ways to manage purchase procedures, stocks, and data of vendors and suppliers. Also, it helps to manage data for service providers. SAP Integration Suite has the tool to conduct training and evaluation. Unique features like the cloud can provide access from any place and by any device is very helpful.

Our selection process happened in 2016. TIBCO Mashery's easy hybrid deployment model was the reason why we decided on Mashery over Apigee. Akamai API Gateway is now a new tool on the market evolving really fast but was not available yet when we went through the selection process. Tyk is open source and evolving very fast, but 2 years back, it was not mature enough. That might have changed now.

We used to have a in house application in Camel and Karaf as a middleware, and after we migrate to S4HANNA we decide to give a try and move to the cloud with SAP Integration Suite, knowing the capabilities and the needs that we have in the company and the projects that were running on premise in our middleware.

  • Mashery enabled us to go to market quicker because we didn't have to write systems for authentication and security for ourselves.
  • Mashery helps our MTTR when we have issues because we can use their transaction logs to identify and troubleshoot issues.
