Motive makes it easy to just plug the ELD and dashcams in, connect via bluetooth and have the driver up and running quickly. The interface is user friendly and even the most technologically challenged driver is able to make use of the application with ease. Training time on the ELD has been cut to less than an hour, versus multiple hours with competitors.
It is VERY adept at creating solutions for single or multiple point collection or distribution scenarios. We have multiple customers with large, central DCs that utilize Appian for their regular route rationalization processes. We have had less success when analyzing "touring" fleets where only historical data was available. Without the flexibility to change/select new combinations, the solution quality is diminished.
AI event detection is top notch (We trialed side by side with Samsara)
Tech forward. Motive is moving in the right direction and they deploy a lot of resources to get them there. Their road map is why we partnered with them.
Motive are true partners. From flexibility and support on the trial to contract negotiations, through implementation we have really been given the white glove treatment. It really is hard for me to say anything negative about my experience.
Appian is excellent for use in both the analysis arena and ongoing operations support. The speed to solution and quality of solution is at the top of the market.
The configurability of the system gives the user the flexibility to address almost any route problem imaginable. Analysts have the ability to recreate the "world" to fit their customer's needs rather than forcing the customer into a predetermined framework.
The installation of the software is flexible and can be structured to fit any work group's format, from a centralized core to a distributed mobile analysis team.
I had issues with adding another company to my fleet to track them while they were driving for my company.
I had issues when I first started using Motive with the install. Motive assisted with a talk through method, but it still didn't work. I ended up taking the truck to the shop 3x before they figured out the problem. So, I would like to see Techs nearby to assist with technical issues.
Appian products have become an instrumental tool within the company, from a daily tactical standpoint building route plans, to a strategic standpoint in assisting with project analysis. Since the tool is able to interface with many different on-board computer vendors, it is something that could be used by the company long term.
When signing into Motive upon entering and starting motor vehicle, the app and the transmitting unit pair immediately. Once paired it is extremely easy and efficiently started to populate the necessary unit information. Then entering the Work Order info is seamlessly entered to the E- log. Doing the pre and post vehicle checks is completed quite accurately.
We have had a couple of issues with some GPSs not working properly. One is down right now, and we have to get it replaced because the GPS has already stopped working. Another was a cord issue. Otherwise, they have been working great with no issues.
Even after using the product for multiple years, Motive continues to have follow-up calls with us to ensure we are taking full advantage of the functionality offered, to show us new tools and modules that are being released, and to help solve any issues or troubleshooting that may be required.
The ease of use and features Motive had to offer were hands down a better product. We work with the Motive team providing feedback and constantly feel as if we are building the product with them rather than working with what we have.
We used to use TruckStops until we switched to Appian Direct Route. I was very happy with TruckStops mainly because it was a simple system that got the job done. There were no integration issues, no errors left and right, no hassle. Appian on the other hand, while it is a nice system, it needs a lot of work. During optimization, mileage is critical and I am afraid Appian fails in this aspect with the lack of proper integration with PC Miler which is industry standard.
The speeding data allowed us to create a speeding policy almost a year ago. We went from 5-10 drivers/week "breaking" our policy to 0-2 drivers/week "breaking" it. We have also noticed fewer challenging braking events due to fewer drivers speeding.
On more than one occasion, the video footage has saved us after the accident. In one instance, I was able to send the camera footage to the Trooper while on the scene of the accident, clearing us from any wrongdoing before the police even left the scene.
