SyncToy - this is better at keeping 2 locations identical if they need to be that way at all times as it runs in the background as a service and updates in real time.

I don't know, I have not tried anything else. This product was easy to use and it actually worked even with the trial version.

[It's well suited for] duplication of files for transferring to a new machine or remote usage but I wouldn't use it if you needed to keep those places up to date all the time as it only works when you run it, not continuously.

Alternatives Considered
For reliability, GoodSync is beyond comparison. Some of the other tools I tried either fail through the backup/synchronization process, leaving one with unknown status of what has been backed up and what has not, wasting an inordinate amount of time because one has to repeat the whole process. Goodsync, even if it stops because of power glitches can easily pick up where it left after performing the analysis

  • I use the workstation version. It is my go-to for manual data transfers.
  • When I want to the most precise one or two-way transfer, GoodSync is what I use.
