Considered Both Products
OpenText MBPM
Chose OpenText MBPM
We found that OpenText MBPM held its own quite well against IBM BPM. We ended up choosing OpenText MBPM due to the analytics, complex routing, and the ease of SOA service integration. Furthermore, the ability to quickly develop simple User interfaces make this tool a daily …
Chose OpenText MBPM
Before first using Metastorm at a previous company, I reviewed 30 systems, shortlisted 4 and chose Metastorm as being intuitively the easiest to develop with. We have recently looked at a number of alternatives but decide to stick with OpenText BPM.
Chose OpenText MBPM
Metastorm was used to meet specific client needs. Ease of use and navigation was one big factor
Chose OpenText MBPM
These products are currently being reviewed for new initiatives. Metastorm will also be considered.
Chose OpenText MBPM
I have evaluated [business process management] products such as Nintex, K2, and Intapp. Each of these products are excellent options, and each have strengths and weaknesses. Metastorm and K2 in my opinion offer more flexibility, but require a higher level of technical ability …
TIBCO® BPM Enterprise
Chose TIBCO® BPM Enterprise
Beats it hands down.
Chose TIBCO® BPM Enterprise
ActiveMatrix BPM is is (or was, as its future is uncertain) a TIBCO replacement for iProcess. It is not as fast and reliable but it has a new generation of capabilities such as application server architecture, capabilities task routing, process patterns and so on.
It feels it …
Chose TIBCO® BPM Enterprise
TIBCO ActiveMatrix BPM improves the user experience, user task and form builder is fantastic, TIBCO scripting is better and more expressive for data management.
Chose TIBCO® BPM Enterprise
I selected TIBCO ActiveMatrix BPM because for me it is a fantastic and powerful product that permits me to easily implement complex business processes and offers many tools for monitoring, troubleshooting, and administration. In this product there is all that is needed when you …
Chose TIBCO® BPM Enterprise
TIBCO AMX BPM has several technical and categorical improvements compared to TIBCO iProcess.
Chose TIBCO® BPM Enterprise
I did not select the product; the client whom I have been working with chose the product
Chose TIBCO® BPM Enterprise
Pega's licensing is very expensive.
Chose TIBCO® BPM Enterprise
I have never used competing products, but experience in using Tibco BusinessWorks has helped to process BPM processes because it is possible to use the TIBCO logic learned during the experience over the years.
Chose TIBCO® BPM Enterprise
For BPM we looked at some IBM products suites, BPM Online, Oracle products and Pega Systems. The decision to go with AMX BPM was based on the evaluation by the software architect team and the cost of acquiring the TIBCO suites.
Chose TIBCO® BPM Enterprise
In addition to TIBCO ActiveMatrix BPM 4.X I have never tried other similar products.
Chose TIBCO® BPM Enterprise
PegaRules Process Commander is much easier to configure the rules, and it follows a effective Class structure in background. All though BPM has a BOM, it is sometimes difficult to modify BOM once it is deployed.
Chose TIBCO® BPM Enterprise
TIBCO is quite user-friendly with minimal coding and hence strongly recommended.

OpenText MBPMTIBCO® BPM Enterprise

OpenText MBPM is well suited for rapid application development where process workflows are well designed in a detailed environment. A servicing organization could benefit from being able to manage and design complex case management processes and applications. It is not suited for the automotive industry where complex custom engineering processes exist within product engineering (vehicle) and manufacturing plants.

It is well suited for high-level analytics or real-time integration among multiple applications. But it's powerful and over complicated and expensive for most small and midsize BPM projects. BPM is used for visual data discovery. It also has two stream analytics CEP Platforms. It offers high-level real-time analytics and operational intelligence.

  • Assign work items to set of users. You can assign work to users based on the groups they belong to in the org model or by their position.
  • Manage user access and privileges, each set of users can perform a set of tasks based on their privileges and we can also restrict the actions for each level of users.
  • Escalating work items: A user can escalate a work item to a senior user and the matter can be progressed to another level or get closed straight away. The life cycle of work items is stored in the database where it gets reflected in Spotfire reports.

Cons
  • The Metastorm process engine is based on an older version of .NET. Updating to a newer version would resolve several known issues with .NET email functionality.
  • Metastorm builds web pages at run time. While the UI presented to the end user is fine, the Document Object Model is convoluted and subject to change with new releases. Providing a more simplified DOM or at very least a custom function to replace document.getElementById() would make client-side scripting a much more powerful tool.
  • One function that I've seen Metastorm competitors do well, is email wizards. Having a WYSIWYG email editor would be really nice.

  • The TIBCO ActiveMatrix BPM 4.0 platform could improve in process management that implements a large amount of data management.
  • Improve the business growth management of the company that decides to make use of the product.
  • By providing graphical tools that analyze the performance of growth and maintenance of processes.
  • Improve the audit and logging system.
