Chose Oracle Java SE
Java is highly more performant and with a very wide range of opensource libraries at hand, there is not much that you "cannot do" as long as you "do it right". Interpreted nature of Python doesn't let you do proper multicore/multithread operations, you could even say that …
Code readability is greater in [Oracle Java SE]. Code refactor can be achieved in [Oracle Java SE], design patterns are used across the libraries and in use of it as well.
Java is the backbone of Scala. Lots of the improvements of the newer version of Java have been based on the improvements Scala introduced (functional programming features, among others). In this way Java and Scala are very symbiotic.
Both platforms provide support for common programming languages such as PHP, Ruby, and Python. Java developers can also use languages such as Java, JavaScript, Clojure, Groovy, and Scala while .NET developers can code in C#, F#, VB.NET, C++, and .NET. The two platforms also …
We choose Java as our system has multiple sub-applications that have different purposes and architecture including back-end applications, front-end UI, front-end Rest API, and Selenium Automation tests. They are deployed in Windows and Linux, communicate with each other using …
We had to stick with Java SE due to some of our other services being already written in Java. For the past couple months, we have been experimenting with Python and comparing its level of security and performance. From our experience, Python has fewer security capabilities, but …
I wanted to write Python, NodeJS, PHP... but it's hard to compare all the different fruits in the basket. Java is good for what it was made for, and much more nowadays. Java was and I suspect, will be a strong candidate for any backend project, and it's one of the most popular …
Oracle's Java is a uniform platform. It is widely used and universally accepted and is the defacto language. The majority of the industries from Banking, retail, healthcare, hardware, software, military, defense, and commercial, to the fashion industry use this language for …
We haven't really used any other products like Java. We have used python and C++ for other projects. Java is much simpler to use than C++, but probably not as simple as Python. Then again, Python is meant to be a scripting language, so when comparing to C++, Java is definitely …
Many other languages could be used for initial programming. However, simplicity of concepts, static type system and available tool support in combination made Java come out top for us. Especially Python has become very popular recently. I think this is a step backwards, due to …
Azul provides comparable services to Oracle Java SE. Compared to Oracle Java SE, support from Azul is more responsive and reachable. The downside is that the customer base of Azul system is much smaller compared to Oracle, so online resources are a little hard to search. But it …
There are several alternative vendors of Java. They are almost all based on OpenJDK, so they are generally very similar. Levels of support vary, but they are more than worthy of consideration.
I do not see the languages that I meant to add in the list. These are Python, R, C, C++, Perl, Jython and Javascript. I have experience in each of these and each has its pros and cons. I like R and Python for scientific analysis. C and C++ have good support for communicating …
Asp.net and Java both live in a similar solution space, however, Java tends to be the better option due to the larger amount of available resources for it. Node is an interesting tool. It is in a similar space as Java, but more focused on front-end web application development. …
Apart from the Oracle Java SE Subscription Service, we have evaluated Scala as well. But the advantage of the Oracle SE subscription is that it provides other powerful tools as well at a very low monthly price and Java is one of the widely used programming languages and this …
I chose the Oracle Java SE Subscription because of the low cost as compared to other products. Also, the performance of the product is quite powerful since it's written in Java which is a powerful language to be worked upon. Also, it has a strong community and the support staff …
As Java has been developed by Oracle, you can rely on them being the best providers for support and implementation of Java across a large variety of systems. The support staff around the SE subscription have been exceptionally helpful throughout the entire process from …
Scala relies on the JVM similar to Oracle Java SE Subscription. It has some very nice language features that Java has incorporated over the years. It is, however, a functional programming language that is a bit more obtuse and harder to pick up for those not familiar. This …
Oracle Java SE Subscription lets you use Oracle JDK and also provides long-term support for all LTS versions of Java, especially for older versions such as Java 8. The security patches it provides are critical in today's IT landscape. OpenJDK is mostly comparable from a …
The software engineering team is having a great time with the Oracle Java SE Subscription service. The pricing is good but can be reduced further as well. But it offers amazing features and the support provided by the team is great and the staff is able to help very quickly. …
Oracle Java SE Subscription ensures that all programs are executed according to plans, from my experience. The performance has proven to our organization that this is the best version for securing data and giving updates and optimization on time. We selected this tool due to …
I have had a great experience in Oracle Java SE Subscription. I have not had an opportunity to work with such a powerful tool. My experience has proven that this is the most powerful programming product and web application management tool.
It is more suitable and effective to opt for Oracle Java SE Subscription to receive enhanced support for your Java SE Applications. The support team is highly qualified and technically sound to manage your Java SE Applications properly. Also they are available 24*7 to make sure …
I was a user of IntelliJ Idea previously but our organization was working on Oracle Java SE, so we had to understand this environment. But it was quite easy to use this, too, as user interface, ease of use is there and complexity is quite low, so users can work on this in no …
Azul Zing might perform better for some use cases, but its advantage becomes much narrower in JDK 11. Operational cost is much higher for Azul Zing, also price is higher.
Oracle Java SE Subscription and Firebase both have great development kits. Oracle has a much larger support base and backing, so it seemed like the smarter choice to invest in. Python IDLE had lower subscription fees. Again, Oracle is well known and seamlessly works with all of …
We preferred Java over other tools and technology as it has many unique features like JVM, JRE, byte code, etc. Oracle Java SE Subscription provides quick updates and solves issues as per the customer request. Our clients' requirements are fulfilled on time with ease. This is …
We've worked with Oracle Java SE Subscription for a long time as it's our client requirement. A couple of years ago we tried considering others, but Oracle Java Subscription stands very unique in various aspects like platform independence, security , reusability and the quality …
We [have] worked with Oracle Java SE Subscription for a long time and we have a good relationship with Oracle Java. Most of the clients prefer Oracle Java SE Subscription over any other subscriptions or tools because Oracle Java SE is highly reliable and ease of use [is] also …
We didn't consider any others. As we [are] working on Oracle Java SE Subscription long [term] we have a separate team to ensure the quality of the tool we use and Oracle Java SE head's up in the right direction. It releases patches [and] updates whenever required and [up] till …
Oracle Java SE is well suited to long-running applications (e.g. servers). Java Swing (UI toolkit) is now rather outdated, lacking support for modern UI features. JavaFX, the potential replacement for Swing, has now been separated out of Java core. Ideally, there would be a path to migrate a large application incrementally from Swing to JavaFX, but due to different threading models and other aspects, it is difficult. At this point, it is probably better to use an embedded web browser (e.g. JxBrowser) to provide a modern UI in HTML/Javascript and keep just the business logic in Java.
[Oracle Java SE Subscription] has been highly beneficial as no additional trained resources needed to be allocated for managing and handling the Java SE applications. Also it has minimal operational cost. The support team of Java SE Subscriptions are always available 24*7, the applications are always up-to-date due to frequent update and patches
Since Java runs on a virtual machine, it's generally considered to be agnostic of the hardware it's running on. It allows for deployment across a mix of hardware setups with the same binary.
Lots of literature, third party libraries, support forums, and books have been devoted to Java in general, making it a great language to use to support the business.
Backwards compatibility has been an important strength of Java for us. Legacy code that isn't ready to be retired yet can still run on our newer setups despite using older versions of OJSE.
AMC JRE Upgrades have very limited Scheduling of Deployments, should be more like SCCM. Where you know exactly when deployments are going out. Not just when the Agent decides to check in.
The language is fluent and has good support from a number of open source and commercial IDEs. Language features are added every 6 months, although long-term service releases are only available every 3 years. It would be nice if some of the older APIs were depreciated with more pressure to move to the new replacement APIs (e.g. File vs. Path), but transitions to new features are generally well implemented.
Java is such a mature product at this point that there is little support from the vendor that is needed. Various sources on the internet, and especially StackOverflow, provide a wealth of knowledge and advice. Areas that may benefit from support is when dealing with complex multithreading issues and security libraries.
As I mentioned before, quality of support from Oracle Java SE Subscription is extraordinary. The speed of resolution and the expertise of the staff is really appreciated. We raised a high priority support incident which blocked our process [and] Oracle Java SE support did a quick analysis and provided a solution which took less time than we expected. They also help us in installing patches and updates whenever required.
We choose Java as our system has multiple sub-applications that have different purposes and architecture including back-end applications, front-end UI, front-end Rest API, and Selenium Automation tests. They are deployed in Windows and Linux, communicate with each other using Rest API, RMI and Queue Message and need to support different deployment environment from Dev, Test, UAT to Production so using Java allows us to have a common standard from development, build and deployment for all applications.
As Java has been developed by Oracle, you can rely on them being the best providers for support and implementation of Java across a large variety of systems. The support staff around the SE subscription have been exceptionally helpful throughout the entire process from purchasing to post-installation support. The subscription itself gives you a strong development platform along with access to a variety of useful tools all of which are on par with other industry-standard systems. The simple UI and strong inter-connectivity with other Oracle systems far exceed what other providers are trying to provide.
Code portability allowed us to run the same code on all platforms
Security is always a key issue especially in the world of increasing cybersecurity laws. It only makes sense to invest in a secure development environment
Developers appreciate rich community support for java se platform
