Skillsoft Leadership Development Program
Chose Skillsoft Leadership Development Program
They seemed to be more on top of relevant topics and experience. Bizlibrary was nothing more than a massive resaler. Whereas Skillsoft Leadership Development Program offered defined paths and topics that we could easily match to career progressions. It also seems to be much …
Chose Skillsoft Leadership Development Program
When it comes to leadership dev, SLDP is deeply specialized for this audience.... we like the ability for users to search and find what they need when they need it.
Chose Skillsoft Leadership Development Program
I used Skillsoft before discovering Lynda.com at my current firm. Both have strong offerings. Lynda.com has broader offerings and seems more technically oriented.
Chose Skillsoft Leadership Development Program
Lynda.com is still used at internally along with Skillsoft mainly because much of our staff are visual and gain a lot from the bounty of videos and courses Lynda.com has to offer on an array of subject that are not always as technical to the library we posses in Skillsoft.
Chose Skillsoft Leadership Development Program
Skillsoft has a wider variety of trainings offered and allows for a greater ability to personalize trainings within your organization needs.
Chose Skillsoft Leadership Development Program
I've written my own, used Pierson, and many others - and in fact, Skillsoft have purchased or acquired most of the better ones -- and there really is no competition in my opinion. They really do a great job - when you get the best at Harvard Business School as topic teachers, …
Chose Skillsoft Leadership Development Program
We chose SkillSoft for the overall ease of use for both our users and our administrators and have a great value proposition. We have continued our contracts for the same reasons and the relationship we have built with our Learning Consultant and Account Representative.
Chose Skillsoft Leadership Development Program
Skillsoft has purchased many of their competitors - thereby improving their offering. However, we did recently evaluate Mindtools. Their offering is very good. It is a competitor of Skillsoft's Knowledge Centers. We are still in the evaluation process.

If you are planning on training a workforce about general guidelines and best practices of the topics covered in the platform. Especially if you don't have the time or resources available to develop an in-house training course.

If you had an individual, group or a multitude of groups that you would need to train, this platform can work wonder and minimal time to do this as well. You can basically assign your whole company a list of things at the same time rather than assigning each person each individual asset.

There would be a scenario when reporting is unexpectedly requested and its needed in detail so you can easily in minutes grab a report off all individuals/groups, what assets they started, stopped, when and where they stopped, if they completed something etc. Rapid reporting is my favorite part.

  • I really like their library of leadership videos where leaders share their best practices. They're short and easy to use in a variety of settings (e.g. trainings, business meetings, etc.).
  • I find Skillsoft to have strong customer service. They do a very good job of listening to your needs and advising a variety of solutions within the given parameters.

Cons
  • Detailed content about specific industries or situations
  • Different length and deep for each topic

  • They are getting better, but keeping up with the IT times and keeping their site modern and user friendly
  • Compliance - we had 2 seperate interfaces between the compliance part (Academy) and the Business Courseware catelog and our custom content - this created a lot of confusion around what was what. Support and the usablility of Academy was not up to par with what we were used to with the normal SkillPort.
  • Technical support doesn't always have the answer

I would recommend to renew as this is part of our employee development goals and we make a strong commitment to develop employees' people skills. I think SkillSoft has a very innovative approach to develop people's interpersonal skills other than traditional classroom learning.

Usability

The integration between the main Skillsoft portal and Books24x7 could use improvement. Most users don't realize there is actually a separate books portal because the link to it is not that visible. Yet, once they discover it, they realize that the books portal is actually easier to use to search for books, ebook summaries, and videos.

Just that it takes a village. It cannot be done alone. Everyone needs to know what you are doing and what their role is in the implementation. Tightly managing the project management schedule and resources is important in ensuring that everything gets done on time, and with quality. Education is KEY

Return on Investment
  • Pre-built training courses for certification that have a higher ROI than building your own courses.
  • Helped customers training their personnel to achieve multiple management system certifications.

  • The ability to have on-demand training saves money in not having to have an in-house trainer.
  • Employees can complete training on their own time (even at home), so if they need more time for a training, they can complete it on their own time.
