Unknown other products out there. Was led to Maps by our SF rep. I made the mistake of trusting a salesperson for solutions. SF reps are pushed to sell the going product, not actually HELP their clients.
CaptivateIQ is much more flexible than SimplyComp. Though it's much more complex, it uses excel-based formulas to lessen the learning curve and can handle any comp plan you throw at it. We were able to sign with them for half the cost of our SimplyComp contract, though that may …
This is the first time I've used a software for commision only. I've usually just used Salesforce to calculate my sales numbers and then do the math myself. This is nice to know the exact number but I don't think a lot better.
Xactly SimplyComp is the only product we reviewed and selected as I used the legacy product at a previous company and was impressed by the functionality.
SimplyComp gets the job done. However, it's more of a necessary evil than pleasant software to work with. My organization has probably invested over 100 hours to set SimplyComp up to support an organization of 50 AEs, 2 VPs, and 8 Directors. I'll acknowledge that we brought some complexity to the table with our comp plans. However, the SimplyComp software didn't make it easy to execute
SimplyComp has a plethora of pre-built v-comp types that come with explanations of use cases. If your v-comp plans fit within these standards it is fairly straight forward to get the plans built.
Connects directly to Salesforce.com reports within your salesforce org. This makes mapping much easier vs trying to have to understand your database schema then map the fields. A finance person, sales operations, or even a sales manager could do the configurations with the provided implementation specialist.
I love the fact that this product has the simplicity that we need vs having to go to a more heavyweight solution. While many organizations have very complex v-comp plans we don't on purpose and would rather not have to get a more complex solution.
The commissions aren't updated daily. Our team has to input the data in Xactly and we get the updated amount every week. Would love to get a quicker update when a sale is made.
Not able to see what tier I'm at or how much more I need to sell in order to hit the next tier. There is a section that shows the commissions percentages but not how much we need to sell to hit it. It would be helpful to know those specific numbers.
I'd love to be able to see what my overall numbers have been to quota. I'm not able to see that now in Xactly. It only shows what attainment has been per month.
Worked well once you figured it out. The 'help portal' was no 'help'. Once you get done self-teaching yourself enough of the terminology and workings, it is pretty quick and easy to use. But the learning curve, again, is not worth the time or effort
Our Implementation Consultant was fantastic. She made herself available, scheduled for in advance to accommodate our schedule, and was very helpful on our calls. She happily executed work on our behalf behind the scenes to help move our implementation along. The Customer Support team was mixed, as is expected with Support teams. Nothing horribly bad, but nothing to write home about. SimplyComp is a newest product for Xactly so everyone is still learning it

Huge improvement in processing efficiency. We currently are able to process 25 commission plans with a quick click of a button.
The customization has enabled us to easily update plans as business needs arise. This has been especially helpful as we're still working to optimize our commission plan structure.
Improved visibility into commission attainment by the sales team.
