TIBCO ActiveMatrix BPM is a business process management platform with capabilities for process automation, process documentation, human capital management, process patterns, and predictive operations analytics.
I found the initial setup of NetWeaver is much simpler than other products especially in an SAP environment where we have SAP ERP/HRM/CRM as it can be well integrated with other SAP products. The only drawback is the need/dependency on SAP Portal. It is better suited in an …
While Winshuttle is comparable, they are really two different tools in that Winshuttle is a hang-on tool while BPM is a catalyst tool. With WS, workflows start in SAP, flow to Winshuttle, and back in SAP (at least with my limited experience). In BPM, everything is housed in the …
ActiveMatrix BPM is is (or was, as its future is uncertain) a TIBCO replacement for iProcess. It is not as fast and reliable but it has a new generation of capabilities such as application server architecture, capabilities task routing, process patterns and so on. It feels it …

I have never used competing products, but experience in using Tibco BusinessWorks has helped to process BPM processes because it is possible to use the TIBCO logic learned during the experience over the years.
For BPM we looked at some IBM products suites, BPM Online, Oracle products and Pega Systems. The decision to go with AMX BPM was based on the evaluation by the software architect team and the cost of acquiring the TIBCO suites.
PegaRules Process Commander is much easier to configure the rules, and it follows a effective Class structure in background. All though BPM has a BOM, it is sometimes difficult to modify BOM once it is deployed.
If your organization is heavily invested in SAP as an enterprise wide solution already, BPM is really your only option. Solid, seamless integration, smooth workflow, and data trails for business analysis are impeccable. If you aren't already heavily invested, key questions to ask would be - Am I using too big a hammer? The results are impressive, no doubt, but the integration of BPM is demanding. A less-demanding, more intutive tool like Winshuttle or even AR Projekt that hooks in to SAP might be a simpler option
It is well suited for high-level analytics or real-time integration among multiple applications. But it's powerful and over complicated and expensive for most small and midsize BPM projects. BPM is used for visual data discovery. It also has two stream analytics CEP Platforms. It offers high-level real-time analytics and operational intelligence.
Assign work items to set of users. You can assign work to users based on the groups they belong to in the org model or by their position.
Manage user access and privileges, each set of users can perform a set of tasks based on their privileges and we can also restrict the actions for each level of users.
Escalating work items: A user can escalate a work item to a senior user and the matter can be progressed to another level or get closed straight away. The life cycle of work items is stored in the database where it gets reflected in Spotfire reports.
We have our own tech support for systems, I would say they probably could use more training on it, I don't really think it's anything regarding the SAP system, but more the knowledge they have on the system itself. It seems to take longer for them to fix any issues we may come across.
I found the initial setup of NetWeaver is much simpler than other products especially in an SAP environment where we have SAP ERP/HRM/CRM as it can be well integrated with other SAP products. The only drawback is the need/dependency on SAP Portal. It is better suited in an environment where SAP ERP is running.
