Tibero

It's a good choice when it comes to switching to a lower but similarly stable and scalable database solution. For any enterprise that needs a robust set of features when choosing a database vendor you have a few choices, paid (expensive or lower cost) or open source. Depending on your needs Tibero might be a good fit.

• Working with Tibero for the last 5 years, I haven't noticed any issues so far.

I know Oracle, IBM's DB2, and Microsoft SQL Server are also commonly used DBMSs. We selected Tibero, because unlike DB2 and SQL Server, it is fully SQL compliant and therefore switching away from Oracle was very low risk for us despite never using Tibero before. We knew that worst case, we just go back to Oracle. However, after using Tibero, we realized it just makes more sense for us financially. Why pay for something more? It is identical to Oracle and claims to have better security. So far no problems.

• Because Tibero's licensing and support fees are half of Oracle's, we were able to allocate the extra budget to other departments that were in greater need for those funds.
