I work with [...] team and we use GoodData as our BI partner. This collaboration has been for several years now. We push the contact centre metrics to GoodData and our customers use this to optimize their contact centre operations. We have several highly valued customers which rely heavily on GoodData.

GoodData provides us a Business Intelligence service. This lets us focus on generating useful metrics but not worry about building a BI solution. This helps our customers to track their contact centre operations.

Very easy to use UI which makes our customers of different personas to easily use it. The ability to create custom metrics helps our customers to use the solution the way they want and desire. Easy onboarding and detailed public documentation helps developers as well. API documents are also well drafted and support team is always helpful.

We're using GoodData to embed dashboards and data visualizations in our product.

Our users were asking for insights into their business based on the data being generated in our product.

Pros

Excellent onboarding and implementation experience with very helpful consultants.
Very good for embedding and white-labelling.
Very responsive support via email and slack.
Developer-focus with good technical documentation.

Cons

Data modelling is difficult and requires technical expertise.
The product is very geared towards technical use cases and can be difficult for non-technical business users.

Likelihood to Recommend

It's excellent for embedding in existing web applications, and licensing is also very well-aligned with this. However, implementing ad hoc internal reporting has been difficult at times due to the technical skills required to set up the data models.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use GoodData to power up analytics for our customers (businesses) and how they are dealing with their own customers. We can leverage a lot of useful capabilities of GoodData, the most liked feature currently is the capabilities of the bricks. We can set up any new account with the perfect settings every time following our guidelines and the ramp-up is quite fast. We are using the platform version with an iframe displayed in our platform.

It allows us to have a BI tool for our customers an easier way than implementing it ourselves, and it is a clean solution.

Not needing to build reporting/BI functionality & infrastructure from scratch

UI is friendly
Separation of workspaces per client is smooth & works well

Cons

Need to have a more customisable embedded component to allow more functionality to the end user without having to go to GoodData's site and customise dashboards

Likelihood to Recommend

When your database has clean data structure and Joins are self-evident, non-engineering people can build their own reports without having to spend engineering resources to expose data over APIs

GoodData is enabling actionable data insights for our customers. GoodData is helping us share our data securely with our customers by embedding it in our application. Our Customers are able to securely interact with our data filtered to their requirements without needing to understand the data. It is helping us bring data insights to our customers quickly.

Support for multitenancy is one of the main reasons we are with GoodData. It is helping us to govern our data and provide a secure instance to our customers with the control they would like to provide to their internal customers.
It is helping us achieve speed in providing data analytics.

We use GoodData to develop custom dashboards personalized to each customer. We develop dashboards om GoodData platform and GoodData.UI. We also set upp our own custom visuals and create smart narratives that give insights on the visuals and data in human readable form which can be plugged into any dashboard.

It addresses the customization aspect and the availability to public. It also helps make dashboards more personalized and offers more control to the developers.

Very well suited when you want to use the GoodData Data Model for your data but want to create your own set of visuals using customized UI. Also well suited if you don't want to be restricted by the limitations of other BI tools like PowerBI and Tableau and if you want to deploy the dashboards to a website in your own domain.

Our organization is using GoodData to provide business insight into e-commerce performance. We check the dashboards on a daily basis which gives us almost a real-time overview of the revenue, best-selling products, and warehouse status. We connected data directly from the Magento database which allows us to directly analyze all the data without zero code or a need from the IT departments. It helps us to track performance, adjust ad campaigns and monitor our purchase ROAS.

It gives an in-depth analytical view of our raw data directly from the database. Before using GoodData, we had to implement our inhouse analytical solutions which took time and were slow to react to the business needs. With GoodData we are able to deliver fine-grained dashboards in days not months.

Cons

I would appreciate a more examples how to build a "standard" dashboards.
I would appreciate a more control over the data loading, for example to load some tables based on the queries instead of full loads (similar to the views on a database level)
I would appreciate to somehow adjust the data being analyzed with SQL-like queries as in the BigQuery for example.

Likelihood to Recommend

GoodData is solving in a very good way "read-only" or immutable dashboards. If I would need to have more controls e.g a custom filtering on the dashboard sometimes it's really hard to achieve what you need.

Cons

Data modeling and needing separate gooddata schema (table prefixes)
Many manual steps that are hard to remember when setting up LCM/adding new clients etc
No ability to perform left joins - results in unintuitive experience

Likelihood to Recommend

It is well suited for exposing analytics to end users because of the useful partitioning and workspace set up. I would not recommend it for internal analytics.

We use GoodData to process data into visual reports. We then embed those reports on websites for clients to view.

BI by processing and scheduling the update process of new data. It also solves our need to display analytics to stakeholders

Pros

Great customer service
Knowledgable help desk resources to help with any step of the GoodData process

Cons

Custom formulas could use some work. I feel it is restrictive and not straightforward for a more technical user. I would like there to be a large library of methods that allow you to manipulate the data. Methods like slicing or finding the substring or index of a string. Also methods for other data types for numbers and so forth.
Increase the number of data log formats you accept as input into your platform. They currently provide CSV format for data logs but they don't have options for JSON, W3C Extended log format, and others. If they make the process to import data very easy then it will save customers from needing to convert it to CSV themselves.

Likelihood to Recommend

For basic data that is already in structured DB like SQL or structured CSV log that needs not much further formulas to process the data then GoodData is a home run. For different data log formats that need further processing of the data into more fields of data, that will be more of a challenge than an easy integration.

They are in the process of transitioning from older documentation in their knowledge base which can be confusing when using the new user interface and messaging doesn't completely align with what you see.

From the initial pitch to implementation to ongoing support, GoodData has been a customer-first organization that provided assistance when needed and allowed exploration when desired. The product itself is intuitive enough for first-timers and powerful enough for power users all packaged in a clean modern user interface.
