Pros
Valuable Solution for Automating Regression Tests: Multiple users have found QA Wolf to be a valuable solution for automating regression tests. They appreciate that it allows less trained and proficient developers to write and maintain automated tests, freeing up more skilled developers to focus on new features.
Clear Visual Indication of Test Execution: Users like the ability to inspect tests and track their progress using the green check marks in QA Wolf. This feature provides a clear visual indication of test execution, making it easier for users to monitor the status of their tests.
Helpful Integration with Slack: The integration with Slack in QA Wolf has been helpful for tracking bugs and issues. It allows for automatic messages and direct communication with the QA Wolf team, enabling efficient collaboration and problem-solving.
QA Wolf provides automated testing as a service, both in a platform and in a team that works closely with our business to solve our testing needs. We have a variety of complex test cases that QA Wolf has been able to support and maintain to relieve our team from having to resource and build ourselves. These tests are fully integrated into the CI/CD pipeline and release process, ensuring a high level of quality and preventing regressions. QA Wolf makes it simple to get additional test cases built out and they work very autonomously to get things done without any nudging.
Pros
QA Wolf builds reliable tests and maintains them even when we slightly change the behavior of the product.
QA Wolf understands our business and product and goes the extra mile to improve the quality of the tests that they write.
The QA Wolf team is always positive and solutions oriented, working closely with us to make sure our business needs are achieved.
Cons
QA Wolf could provide a better feedback loop for when tests are completed in order for us to have even higher confidence they are built and working as intended.
QA Wolf could do a better job of ensuring that failing test cases are resolved in a timeline manner.
Likelihood to Recommend
QA Wolf is great if you want to automate the building and managing of end-to-end regression style tests. They would not be great for new feature buildouts where the tests need to be done very quickly to ship a feature or if the feature is changing rapidly, as there is at least a couple day lag to when test cases get built out. QA Wolf does not do any manual testing so that is not a good use case for the platform.
We use QA Wolf to get our end-to-end tests written quickly and easily. These tests help us ensure that new and existing features continue to work as we expect without breaking current functionality or introducing regressions/new bugs. This allows us to iterate and deploy quickly and confidently so our engineers can focus on code instead of tests.
Pros
Writing tests
Hosting test infrastrucure
Identifying new bugs
Integrating with existing development pipelines
Cons
Some more advanced integrations with existing products
Ability to scope issues to specific projects/products
Likelihood to Recommend
We have an enterprise platform built with a very small team on a tight budget. Thus, we've had to find ways to cut corners in order to be able to keep development velocity high. We leverage QA Wolf as our source of testing to ensure that new features work as intended and don't introduce regressions/bugs.
We use QA Wolf for automated end to end (E2) testing.
Regressions errors are a huge problem in software delivery and E2E testing addresses a lot of concerns in this area.
We had several problems implementing E2E testing. It is not a core competency of our existing engineering staff so writing tests was often a slow process. Once we had a test built, running the tests could take a long time, causing an engineer to either have to wait a long period to see if the tests pass, or context switching when they receive an alert that tests failed. To make the tests run faster would require significant investment in infrastructure and an ongoing hosting cost.
QA Wolf addresses all of the above concerns in a cost- and time-efficient manner.
Pros
Eliminates the need to have and manage in-house QA Engineers
Handles all the infrastructure for testing
Runs tests in parallel so Engineers get fast feedback on whether they have introduced a regression error.
Reduce costs associated with E2E testing
Amazing customer service
Excellent integration with our existing workflows
Cons
Costs are coming down everywhere in the automation space as AI takes on more jobs. I'd like to see QA Wolf costs scale down as they automate more processes.
Likelihood to Recommend
QA Wolf is an appropriate tool for web-based applications supported by teams that are trying to optimize for speed. Regardless of the size of team, a cost-efficient outsourced option allows the in-house team to focus on feature delivery. If speed is not an issue and costs are the most important concern, trying to do the work using existing resources may be more appropriate. I hope I never work anywhere like that.
Previously, we had a couple QA engineers manually test new features. This wasn't great because features only got tested once, when they were initially introduced. QA Wolf writes tests for us for new features that then run on all subsequent deploys. It helps us catch a lot of bugs before they get onto production!
Pros
Super responsive
Taking work off of our plate
Cons
Very occasionally there's excessive back and forth about a failing test
Likelihood to Recommend
QA Wolf is great if you still have a manual QA team testing features on staging and production.
We selected QA Wolf to replace out former Cypress suite of automated
tests. The QA Wolf team provides our front-end automation coverage
allowing our internal QA resources to focus on other areas of our
development lifecycle and mobile automation testing while trusting QA
Wolf with our web automation. We currently have more than 500 tests
running in parallel via QA Wolf for our existing functionality and
additional coverage requests forthcoming for upcoming features.
Pros
QA Wolf provides quick development of test coverage based on our requests and the priorities of those requests set by us. They honor our needs and execute on them quickly.
QA Wolf provides timely feedback on test failures via a bug report and verification of failures. The team quickly engages our personnel to determine if a bug report is valid and assists as needed with troubleshooting the issue.
QA Wolf provides outstanding, first class customer support through their professional staff and quick replies to our questions or concerns.
Cons
Our situation is somewhat unique such that we have internal QA members liaising with our QA Wolf partners. This has been ideal for communicating and effectively identifying test coverage needs. So, unfortunately for this question, we have not experienced any issues needing improvement in our relationship with QA Wolf.
Likelihood to Recommend
QA Wolf is well suited to meet with, discuss, and evaluate a customer's needs for automated web test coverage. They have experienced QA engineers on their team who relate well to what the customer is seeking with automation coverage from an external partner, and they ask the right questions to determine the best approach for producing and delivering that coverage. During the exploratory phase, we had very frequent and very helpful communications from our CSM and the engineers as we developed our plan. They then delivered on that plan, successfully. If you are seeking automated mobile coverage, QA Wolf is not your solution.
Automated test coverage and regression testing. We frequently release code changes to our software, so having automated regression testing is extremely helpful for us to revert changes before it gets to clients. QA Wolf also helps us around automated test coverage for new features. It is nearly impossible to manually QA everything in our platform, and QA Wolf helps us release new features with higher confidence.
Pros
Identifying bugs in our software before clients do.
Provides an easy way to monitor our test coverage, and reported bugs every week.
Customer support is extremely responsive and nice to work with.
Their team is very capable of adapting to complex software.
Integrates well with our apps such as Slack and JIRA.
Cons
I think their bug reporting in the app is great, but the JIRA integration doesn't always include the level of detail that their app does. Having those two match would be great.
Some functions in their app when re-organizing tests.
Likelihood to Recommend
QA Wolf provides peace of mind for software companies. I think they are best suited for companies who have a large need for automated regression testing support and have environments where code changes are frequent. Many times QA Wolf caught critical bugs that allowed us to react quickly and avoid releasing a poor UX to clients.
QA wolf is used by our company for Automated Testing and Bug tracking. It helps us by saving us the overhead cost of having to create our own automation platform for QA as well as the cost of maintaining our own QA team. QA Wolf platform and the helpful staff will do their best to make it work for you and your business' needs.
Pros
Creates new tests as requested fairly quickly.
Listening and available at all times.
Automated testing and the ease of creating tests on their platform with 0 coding experience.
Cons
Test creations could be more automated but mankind would need something like AI to solve for it. Give QA wolf a few years and we should get there.
Tests have to be super specific sometimes.
Bug found can cause the tests to be paused. Recommend tracking associated bug tickets on Jira and resuming the tests when the bug is resolved.
Likelihood to Recommend
For anyone with a small to mid-size software company, QA wolf could help improve the quality tremendously. For larger companies, using automated tests could help save cost of having to maintain test system, servers, staff, etc. Anyone on the sidelines should have a conversation with their team and see if they can help your company based on your needs. I am sure they will impress you from the get-go.
