Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Shopify Plus and its connecting apps for D2C sales. For example, Recharge, a subscription-based app, connects to the Shopify platform, where all our customer data is stored. It’s also great that we can set up promo codes for any sales that we choose to run.

Pros

App partnerships.
Ease of use.
Straight forward.

Cons

Some apps not as integrated.
Talking to 3rd party apps outside of Shopify integration.

As someone who isn’t technically sound like many others would be, it was super easy for me to jump into the Shopify Plus platform and learn my way around fast. For any business owner looking to get off the ground and run things themselves, I’d suggest Shopify Plus with no hesitation.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We used Shopify Plus for our client for managing all the operations like Inventory, sales and analytics part. It helped streamline the process for us. That gave us an edge to focus on important aspects of business like marketing. It's a good option for ecommerce industry.

Yeah so Shopify Plus is useful for maintaining all the data properly like orders, abandonment cart customers data. Orders of all the customers...we can filter the customer's data depending upon the need.. like customers who bought 3+ products or 2+ products we can customize accordingly. It is useful for me... The only way it is less appropriate for me is the theme customisation option.

It's the platform where we run both of our B2C and B2B stores, our entire catalog, and even discontinued products, it's our online storefront hosting all branded content, our programs and blog

The attributed revenue for different channels sometimes is inaccurate
the development finds a lot of room of improvement on the HTML capabilities of the platform

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Shopify is great for small to medium size enterprise who can control the visual identity of their site. Shopify starts being costly when you try to customize the template. Nevertheless Shopify Plus has accelerated their transformation into enterprise level capabilities. The number of new features released over the past 12 months has been impressive. Shopify Plus offers the best cost effective way to launch and operate websites. Shopify Plus offers more features in North America than in some of the other regions. The main weakness is in the Shopify lack of native App solution and the lack of regional payment gateway and logistics partners in some of the other regions outside of USA and Canada.

Shopify Plus is the platform upon which we’ve built our B2C/D2C e-commerce website, and it has addressed several critical business challenges for us. One of the main advantages is its seamless integration with our ERP, which has streamlined our operations significantly. Uploading and enriching product information is now a smooth process, allowing us to reduce the time it takes to onboard new products drastically. Shopify Plus also offers rock-solid performance, ensuring our customers a reliable and responsive user experience. The platform’s ease of use has made product changes and bulk editing much faster, turning tasks that used to take hours into quick, manageable actions. Regular updates and new tools from Shopify Plus are bug-free and easy to integrate, keeping our e-commerce operations agile and up-to-date. Overall, the scope of our use case includes efficient product management, seamless ERP integration, and delivering a superior end-user experience—all of which have contributed to improving our business performance.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Shopify Plus allows us to set up multiple versions of our website but for different international markets. We can easily process orders in different currencies. We are able to create new price lists for different types of business customers and the system automatically applies the pricing and quantity discounts without the staff having to remember to do it which speeds up training.

Switch the currency based on the marketplace the customer is in.
Easy to set up B2B customers, multiple email logins.
Can create different price lists for different customers.

Cons

For international orders, would be good to see customs and tax estimates.

Shopify Plus is great for companies which have different types of customers and therefore you need different price lists (catalogues). You can assign these to different businesses and the price automatically changes without staff members needing to memorise who gets which, streamlining everything immensely. You can also create many different shipping tariffs for different locations and weights so it is great if you ship to Europe or America.

Shopify Plus is perhaps not great if you only sell 1 item in a small market. There are a lot of features you are just not going to use.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use it to manage 15+ clients' websites! It takes so much work out of the picture in a way that we know can be relied upon. Inventory management, order processing / management, login flow, page structure, asset CDN. It also brings with it a sense of trust for the customer and client.. and for us a trust that there will be 99.99% uptime and speedy resolution of issues.

Pros

Customizable integrations via webhooks and other code-based solutions

Cons

Webhooks often fire more than once or not at all. Keeping certain aspects in sync and trusted as such is tough. Webhooks should retry based on response status.
Importing legacy customers/orders/products isn't simple. Having to use third party tools (eg. matrixify) isn't a good solution.

Likelihood to Recommend

It's good for an existing site that can afford to pay the cost for the transaction fees in exchange for a good set of third party tools and decent existing platform to support most business needs. It may not suit a larger business ($30M+ pa) where the upfront development cost and maintenance might be worth it to offset the costs of being on the Shopify Plus platform.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Shopify Plus for our ecommerce website. The lower payment processing fees, access to scripts and special features, checkout, and extension stores are the main Plus features we're taking advantage of with Plus. We've been users of Shopify Plus for a long time, and it makes sense for our use-case.

Support quality has declined in the last few years
Fewer "unique" features that aren't available on lower plans

Likelihood to Recommend

If you are approaching $1M in annual sales, Shopify Plus makes sense for the discount on processing fees alone. If you could also take advantage of the expansion stores, or need some specific features like B2B when it would make sense.
For smaller brands, or if you're just starting out with Shopify, in my opinion it's probably overkill -- save your money and consider it when your revenue is higher.

We use Shopify Plus to sell products to customers online, but we are also customers of its payments gateway and international markets product. We've been happy with the platform and the support they have provided, and they seem to have scaled well with our business over the last few years since we started using them.

Pros

Very easy to learn & use
Simple integrations with most third party software
Broad library of apps
Outsourced IT department
Great product support

Cons

Advanced features may be missing for enterprise customers
International Markets product lacks support for multiple 3PLs
Data privacy compliance tools are somewhat limited

Likelihood to Recommend

While it has its issues for enterprise clients, I would definitely recommend Shopify Plus to anyone who is either starting a new business or is looking to scale their existing business. Shopify's features and popularity make it easy to set up and integrate with most third party software, and signing up for Shopify Plus is essentially like outsourcing your IT team.
