Overall Satisfaction with DraftSight
DraftSight is used for individual use of CAD operation of steel structural design in my company. I am a member of the sales engineering dept. My main task is to propose structural design to minimize fabrication and transportation cost of the buildings. When I describe steel structural plans, I make some blueprints using DraftSight.
Pros
- DraftSight is completely compatible with AutoCAD commands
- DraftSight is extremely light. I'm so satisfied by its good response.
- Good cost performance--you can use 3D CAD operation at such a low price.
Cons
- I have some difficulty in printing some blueprints using DraftSight. There is some difference between it and AutoCAD.
- There are few FAQs--when I google commands for DraftSight, FAQs for AutoCAD always hit
- I have some difficulty with snap points. I set some snap utilities in the menu, but sometimes this customized setting vanishes when I do CAD operation. I have to recover it each time it vanishes.
- Positive: introducing costs are reasonable, so one can easily allocate DraftSight to its team members.
- Positive: construction cost is determined in design process. This process is always early in overall construction process. This software can easily describe ideas on 2D\3D blueprints.
- Positive: my tasks is often to review and fix some blueprint made by someone else. In such an process, DraftSight can easily access files made by others.
