Chose AdRoll
AdRoll is cheap, but I believe with cheap products comes cheap results
Chose AdRoll
AdRoll is better than Taboola in that the ad creation process. I like how the ads have better retargeting than Taboola. Also, I can make the ads look more elegant and fit our brand more than Taboola. Adroll's analytics are also better than Taboola in my experience. Lastly, …
Chose AdRoll
AdRoll makes display advertising very easy to use. You don't have to get into the Google Analytics platform to see the number of new users, add to cart, revenue, etc. It will provide data on cross-channel attribution. You can't do Google Ads, Google Shopping, or Microsoft …
Chose AdRoll
AdRoll is easier to navigate and get your ads up and running smoothly. It's nice to be able to upload your own design and see how it will look in real-time. Changing budgets, ad groups, etc. is quick and easy!
Chose AdRoll
AdRoll helped me bypass google $50k lifetime spend to upload an email list to retarget my email list. And also helped combine stats from FB and Google and its partner in one place. But if you want more functionality or are heavy in ads, you might need to go directly to FB and …
Chose AdRoll
Adroll is slightly better than Criteo, in my opinion. Criteo, only does web ads right now, which is frustrating if you are also running social campaigns. Adroll continues to be a one stop shop for all advertising campaigns and is extremely convenient in that regard. Criteo …
Chose AdRoll
You get much more quality traffic using Simpli.fi. It's very high quality leads and tends to have a very low rate of spam/junk traffic/leads. Their platform and support is much easier than AdRoll so I would recommend Simpli.fi more than AdRoll going forward. We'd moved a good …
Chose AdRoll
Google Ads is our primary channel of advertising but we ran tests of our Dynamic Google retargeting vs Adroll and Adroll outperformed the Google retargeting. AdRoll was an easier process to get set up and start converting. We also found that the support from AdRoll outperformed …
Chose AdRoll
The payment structure and cost to use the software were perfect for an agency of our size (small agency).
Chose AdRoll
AdRoll has been used by a few of our clients for a long time now, but I'm not sure it has ever proven as valuable as the other advertising platforms. We have continued to use it because it is inexpensive (and because it says it drives a lot of revenue), but it is a minimal …
Chose AdRoll
AdRoll stacks up really well against other similar providers, as its main retargeting engine is unmatched in the marketplace. It is also super easy to use and intuitive to set up and manage ad campaigns at scale - as opposed to some other platforms that can get difficult to …
Chose AdRoll
AdRoll has the ability to both utilize and customize ad creatives. Criteo forces customers to use their ad formatting and specs. quantcast only offers data in 30 day increments, ad roll allows for real time data analysis in a live dashboard that's easy to read, understand and …
Chose AdRoll
The reason why we chose AdRoll over Criteo is due to the superior seeming dynamic targeting of AdRoll.
Chose AdRoll
AdRoll is what we have used in the past, and it provides us with a positive ROI each quarter. We have not really branched out to other dynamic retargeting partners because this is successful.
Chose AdRoll
Google Ads is a powerhouse, but AdRoll provides its own niche ability to target specific people.
Chose AdRoll
AdRoll is perhaps the best for very small businesses (less the 50 employees), is the easiest to set-up and administer. Google Marketing I would rate the best overall tool - excels with future product direction, campaign management, and targeting. Criteo has perhaps the best …
Chose AdRoll
I always found the Perfect Audience interface confusing. I’m sure it’s a great tool, but if you can’t use it nothing else will be of benefit.
Chose AdRoll
AdRoll offers an easy campaign management system and with the ability to segment via website pages and audience targeting, AdRoll is superb for retargeting. Conversions can be set up in numerous ways and offer solid tracking/accountability. You also do not need to worry about …
Chose AdRoll
Adroll ends up being more costlier than alternatives offered from companies such as Google or Microsoft as you ultimately have a higher level of control on the budget, the platforms that your display banners are showing up on as well as the demographics. I would not choose …
Chose AdRoll
In some ways we've been looking at AdRoll as an alternative to running ads direct with Facebook. The biggest thing AdRoll has going for it is that their own network has reach beyond the Facebook ad network. It also provides a central place to run FB ads and display ads and …
Chose AdRoll
When testing out AdRoll, we simultaneously tested out the same campaigns on Perfect Audience and compared the results. AdRoll ultimately won the battle, with higher ROI, lower CPC and higher ROAS.
Criteo
Chose Criteo
Marketing Solutions by Criteo is the best at re-targeting, and you can expect more results than Google Ads. The ads would be placed on more decent websites than on Taboola for sure.
Chose Criteo
Marketing Solutions by Criteo sometimes deliveries a higher revenue volume than other partners, but we usually run more than one retargeting partner at the same time, as we can have different inventories in which ads are displayed.
Chose Criteo
I feel Criteo had a much better tech stack and features all in one to do a wide range of things in terms of marketing ad campaigns. Also because it is a dedicated tool with a one-track focus, we found it to be a better fit for our needs at this time.
Chose Criteo
Inmobi and Smaato have more inventory but do not have the technology applied to that inventory. Whereas Marketing Solutions by Criteo puts the focus mainly on the audience and the users, Smaato and Inmobi are more focused on the publishers and the placement. For e-commerce …
Chose Criteo
Terminal One by Mediamath is more like a full-stack marketing solution that works very well for user acquisition and retargeting campaigns. On the other hand, Marketing Solutions by Criteo works more like a specialist for conversion and down the funnel campaigns, and their main …
Chose Criteo
Marketing Solutions by Criteo is definitely great alternative to its competitors and more efficient
Chose Criteo
I think Marketing Solutions by Criteo is probably one of the smaller fish in the pond, so it is kind of hard to compare. However, I do believe they have a niche product that not many others offer, therefore they are unique. There are definitely going to be things that they …
Chose Criteo
I don't actually have experience with another retargeting program like Criteo, though we had considered using one. We liked Criteo for the ad networks they are able to reach.
Chose Criteo
We were having an ROI of 8 with AdRoll with the website we tried it on. AdRoll could bring us up to 12/14 with other websites. We thought Criteo was going to perform better on that particular website. We have 4 more websites on which we could have applied Criteo! Not happening.
Chose Criteo
RTB House Personalized Retargeting and Google Ads (formerly AdWords)
Chose Criteo
AdRoll doesn't even come close to stacking up with Criteo Dynamic Retargeting. The customer support is worse, the targeting options are not as clear, and the performance is drastically worse than Criteo. We will not be going back any time soon.
Chose Criteo
Criteo is dynamic in nature and easy to set up and run the campaign. They have a dedicated account manager who can help as and when required. Though we have used Google Display Network earlier, ROI is great in Criteo.
Chose Criteo
We've run dynamic retargeting on Google and Facebook, but Criteo offers the strongest and most brand-safe reach across the web, along with better technical support and a much stronger direct return on ad spend.
Chose Criteo
We selected Criteo because of the good reputation, its flexibility, and the detailed reporting it delivers.
Chose Criteo
I do not know about other products like Criteo Dynamic Retargeting, therefore I cannot say anything about any differences.
Chose Criteo
We work with several products to carry out good retargeting. Criteo Dynamic Retargeting is more suitable to generate a direct link to our products.
Chose Criteo
Google ads: it's quite complicated to manage correctly. Criteo is very easy to use.
Chose Criteo
Criteo can be seen as the European market leader in retargeting but other competitors like Google or Sociomantic offer similar tools and placements. It makes sense to try out different campaigns and see what works best for you. Criteo performed very well on several campaigns we …
Chose Criteo
We use Google Ads for classic ads but for the display ads, we selected Criteo Dynamic Retargeting. First of all because it's french ! ;) And because we think Criteo is the best tool for retargeting as it invented this technology ! We like the way we are accompanied by the …
Chose Criteo
When I entered the company, they were are also using Criteo but it wasn't optimized at all. I know from the past working with Criteo in other companies that they deliver good ROI results so that why we decided to optimize the campaigns with Criteo and spend more of our budget …

Likelihood to Recommend
I used AdRoll at my previous agency and liked it. So much so, I am in the process of getting my new agency on board with using AdRoll. The primary reason is that it can be very advantageous for a small agency that doesn't meet many of the programmatic minimum ad buys to use. For many of our clients, re-targeting is also very important. I have found that I can get those types of campaigns up and running much quicker than using a platform directly. Overall, AdRoll is really easy to use and can be a great, low-barrier option for smaller agencies.

Pros
  • A customer service rep can help us out with any campaign questions, any time during the work week.
  • The platform has a very transparent platform that provides great detail about analytics of the ads.
  • The platform shows what digital advertising mediums are working the best for your website, not just the ads that you run through them.

  • The first strenght of Criteo Retargeting is the user-friendly platform, where you can easily manage your budget and analyse the performance.
  • Secondly, the CPC based model is great advantage of Criteo compare to some competitors.
  • Finally, the post-click attribution. It is more trustworthy and tenable than post-view.

Cons
  • Improved level of support during the technical setup process would really improve the onboarding process
  • Consistent, proactive account management is key with organizations like AdRoll. A dedicated rep goes such a long way.
  • More granular reporting would help with back-end optimization and client recommendations

  • Level of control over ads - Most features of Criteo can't be managed directly in the dashboard. That can be a problem when you want ads adjusted quickly, for example, if you make a change to your logo. Customer Service has to be contacted in that case.
  • Cost - Of the several retargeting platforms we tried, Criteo was the most costly. This is in terms of cost per click and cost per conversion. In the end, we just couldn't justify paying substantially more for a similar ad network to Google just for the level of customer service.
  • Reporting - There is no reporting provided automatically, and user data is gated; it was difficult for us to ascertain anything about the audience we were serving ads to, and even basic geographic data wasn't available to us.

Here are the questions we asked when we were going to renew (note: adroll does not have annual contract and you can cancel at anytime)
  • what new products/ updates were released in the last 6 months?
  • did I find these new products/updates helpful
  • was I informed of these products in a timely fashion?
  • did my Account Manage and Ad opps rep make suggestions on how I could make my campaigns more efficient and effective?

Criteo is the only remarketing firm worth using for a retailer, in my opinion.

Usability
Honestly, AdRoll is like every other ad management system. In fact, all ad management systems are pretty much identical with a few proprietary tweaks. Creating a campaign is done in one seamless screen with everything you need right there. The ability to add creative and even order AdRoll to create ads for you is also easy. The monitoring of a live campaign is easy as you can see all the necessary information from the main screen. Super easy to use and reliable deliverability

Criteo's platform is very easy to use from a marketing standpoint if you understand key terms. The frontend is very user-friendly and I personally had no issues. I enjoy being able to see key results and metrics being tracked from the dashboard. It is also easy to filter things as desired to break down data.

Support Rating
We don't use AdRoll support much, but when we have it's been fine, in line with other advertising platforms where it takes a few days maximum to resolve an issue that you have with them. In general though, the platform is very self sufficient and we do not have to use their support much, which is a good thing.

I think Marketing Solutions by Criteo offers a very robust solution for an ad tech platform and their support team is very knowledgeable about their product. I would like to see, though, more webinars and training about the technology behind the product to give us more tools to talk to our customers with more information and better visuals.

Implementation Rating
Implementation was easy, as all we needed to do was use Google Tag Manager's built in AdRoll tag type and input our client ID and we were up and running. If you're not using Google Tag Manager, I imagine the implementation would be relatively easy as well, as all that's needed is a basic pixel.

Adroll is slightly better than Criteo, in my opinion. Criteo, only does web ads right now, which is frustrating if you are also running social campaigns. Adroll continues to be a one stop shop for all advertising campaigns and is extremely convenient in that regard. Criteo works off of a PPC type of structure and Adroll charges per impression. Criteo would be more beneficial with that model.

Return on Investment
  • Mixed - while the tool provides an invaluable productivity gain the actual ROI it provides is less certain. We found if used in combination with other revenue analytics it was useful to determine the impact it had on revenue from returning visitors. If data is used on its own the impact on revenue is less quantifiable.

  • Criteo Dynamic Retargeting gives us very good results and positive ROI on our active campaigns with them. Overall we are pretty happy with them and looking to do more campaigns with them.
  • We are also looking to test new things with them in order to get better ROI such us new video creatives, new mobile app campaigns for our app games & also how the app retargeting products work!
  • We should point out that as a company we are analyzing results as a 'last click' attribution model and if you only look to the data from the dashboard it's different. But also both have good ROI for the campaigns.
  • Also your account manager is always looking for recommendations of new CPC options or going for the ARO (automation of the bid) to optimize it.
