We thought about Firebase, but we ultimately selected Apptentive because it is brand-agnostic. Using a Google app for an iOS application could have proved disastrous if the support for iOS had been lost down the line.
It works very well for consumer-centric applications. If you had an app with in-app purchases, or a retail store app, or even a simple gaming application, Apptentive would be more powerful. In our case, we have an app that serves as a productivity tool, so Apptentive gives us great insight and tools, but we do not take advantage of them as much as other apps might.
Instabug is great to capture bug reports during the testing phase of your app. You can also collect user data such as device, OS, and App version to easily reproduce the issue.

We keep Apptentive because it is already integrated with our apps and we've continued to be able to use it for what we need without worrying about how a new tool would connect to everything that goes into a mobile app.
