For my industry, ExakTime is incredible. The geo fencing, and clock-in locations and job types works incredibly well. I am likely to recommend because I have and I do recommend it constantly to others in my industry. I would say the only reason more people are not trying is it, is because they are of an older generation and using a virtual program can be daunting.

GreenLight works well with tracking compliance training. During the selection process I would ask pointed questions about support. Our implementation went well (Dave M. did an excellent job) and the technical help is very good, however, it appears they are understaffed.

  • Clock in and out for all employees.
  • Downloading weekly reports for Touch Detail.
  • Downloading monthly reports for Location and employee totals.
  • Adding new employees into the software.

  • It would be a nice feature if employees could add photos of their progress on jobsites
  • The GPS could be a bit more exact for tracking employees
  • The reports page online is not the most user friendly page. It seems dated.

  • The words that are used in GreenLight are ridiculous. I know they've said they will update this but it has yet to be done. Words like 'intervention' and 'stem' leave me scratching my head.
  • The learning curve is HUGE. They have made strides in this area with an improved support site, but when you're first learning it, it feels like you're trying to climb Mt. Everest. This does speak to all the LMS offers, but I think some things take too many steps to accomplish.
  • Training events are not instructor friendly. You can set them up and easily make them available for users to find, but something as small as the instructor being able to click a button and send an email to everyone that signed up should be in there. There's no function for contact.

Likelihood to Renew
I don't have any major problems with Exaktime so I do not see a reason to switch to something else. All the bugs and learning curves have been worked out so move to another company will take too much time of which we do not have. I have become an Exaktime expert and don't trust another software that guarantees geofencing timekeeping.

The main reason we will renew is because, after this lengthy and expensive process, we have too much invested to change again in the near future.

Usability
ExakTime is very intuitive and easy to use in some cases. From an ExakTime Mobile perspective, it is very simple and easy to use. The Clock In/Clock Out screen is intuitive and easy to learn. Similarly, the ExakTime Connect side is very smooth and simple for Time Card Detail viewing and Report usage, but it is sadly lacking in User Experience in Scheduling.

There have been many times when the site was unavailable for a short time. Also, glitches and unexplained ed activity such as sending training notifications out to terminated employees.

I have had problems outside of normal business hours and I get a return phone call from them pretty quickly. There has only been I think 1 instance that I waited for too long to be able to fix my situation.

The questions regarding how to implement in the system are answered quickly and efficiently. If there is an issue with the technical side or integrations it takes forever to get results and after much escalating.

Gave a notice to all
employees to come to work 15 min early on the day planned to implement the
program. I had Spanish and English signs
on how to down load the program and log in I showed them ALL how to log in and
out and explained that they are responsible for reporting accurate time. I had them all sign a policy that lunch
breaks were mandatory for all employees
at least 30 min per day. This ensures
safety on the roofs. We had a few people
who did not have passwords to the app store and we had a few problems with
android phones but most of them were on their way quickly. Most not happy about the change but I hope
they see the benefit of it now.

Alternatives Considered
This is the first product like this that we've used. We've been using ExakTime for several years now, and I can't imagine going back to manual entry! I also wouldn't think there's any comparable product on the market that allows as much customization or would be as user friendly as ExakTime

In my opinion, no comparison. GreenLight is a much smoother platform, providing a more stable user experience, with less bugs, less software conflicts, and better support. I have developed and published dozens of eCourses on this platform, and it really shines. In addition, the suite of integrated products from SilkRoad Technologies (Red Carpet, Open Hire, and WingSpan) really impress when combined with the strength of GreenLight.

The system went down/offline for 5 or 6 days in January. This is the month we have 3400 employees taking annual required training. It had several glitches afterwards that took months to correct.

Return on Investment
  • Improved payroll accuracy and employee time breakdown by type of work, greatly reducing the manual data tracking and time spent by employees on such tracking. More time for actual work!
  • Employees can interact via field notes while on the job, providing revisions to data entered if appropriate. Improves administrator efficiency as well.
  • Reports significantly improve time tracking, positively effecting job costing recordkeeping and evaluation.

  • seems to have made sure that all out short term contract staff are more on the same level and can access various lists, documents they need from training in a way that fees up admin time.
  • 100% of people interacted with it in someway, in the end no one had trouble understanding how it worked
  • seemed to help with our duel learning delivery goals but too soon to tell just yet
