Chose Astera Data Pipeline Builder (Centerprise)
Suitable for the environment.
Chose Astera Data Pipeline Builder (Centerprise)
We evaluated both Monarch and Astera Centerprise and ended up purchasing Astera Centerprise due to ease of use and the wide range of available functions.
Chose Astera Data Pipeline Builder (Centerprise)
GoldenGate is not really designed for "interactive reusasbility" situations. Centerprise is perfect for the concept of reusing previous work for new projects! Plus, the cost difference is so huge!
Chose Astera Data Pipeline Builder (Centerprise)
I was not involved in the vendor selection process.
Chose Astera Data Pipeline Builder (Centerprise)
Comparing the license cost, affordability and the training which was provided by the company to get to the speed of development and support
Chose Astera Data Pipeline Builder (Centerprise)
I have not had the chance to evaluate or trial any other products like Astera Centerprise. The decision to enter a license agreement with Astera Centerprise was made before my employment at my current employer.
Chose Astera Data Pipeline Builder (Centerprise)
The biggest difference is with Astera Centerprise I could just start using it. Almost every other tool required me to write SQL or in another language... and if I'm writing SQL already, why not just use SSIS or raw SQL? There wasn't a tremendous amount of time savings being …
Chose Astera Data Pipeline Builder (Centerprise)
Primary reason was native support for HIPAA 834 format.
Chose Astera Data Pipeline Builder (Centerprise)
For us Astera Centerprise is a better tool as it helps in solving 2 problems. We use it as both an ETL tool as well as API integration tool. MuleSoft Anypoint platform is used for API integration only. So we chose Astera Centerprise over MuleSoft. We're now using to EDI …
Chose Astera Data Pipeline Builder (Centerprise)
We spend lots of time to find a good software package and then finally this package has been accepted technically and then commercially by our management team.
Chose Astera Data Pipeline Builder (Centerprise)
Centerprise is easier for everything except the most demanding jobs. Centerprise is not for full blown enterprise data warehouses.
Chose Astera Data Pipeline Builder (Centerprise)
From honing the web I made a long-list of about 25 products, leaving off the big (and expensive) 4 as well as clearly inferior products. Then, due to the nature of our organization, I excluded cloud-specific solutions. That got us to about 15. I read reviews and was persuaded …
Chose Astera Data Pipeline Builder (Centerprise)
Stacks up well against competitors and overall provided the best fit for our needs while also meetings all of our requirements. No tool was perfect in our evaluation or from past experience even, but Astera proved to be a great fit after going through various reviews, demos, …
Chose Astera Data Pipeline Builder (Centerprise)
We first tried Informatica and think it is suitable for our company. However, the per license price is way too expensive, as we need to support multiple users at the same time. When compared to Astera, we found Astera can do most of the stuff that Informatica does. That's why …
Chose Astera Data Pipeline Builder (Centerprise)
Much easier and faster development time, better interface.
Chose Astera Data Pipeline Builder (Centerprise)
Astera wins on simplicity of building and maintaining the data flows. I am afraid that the two above-mentioned tools (and especially LogicApps) actually have more power under the hood. However, as mentioned before - Astera is way simpler to understand and maintain. Astera can …
Chose Astera Data Pipeline Builder (Centerprise)
We looked at continuing to use SSIS as an alternative. Although we own SSIS as part of our SQL licensing, we found that it takes a much higher skill level to create solutions. It also does not have the ability to parse unstructured data the way that Centerprise Data …
Chose Astera Data Pipeline Builder (Centerprise)
Centerprise has many more tools built in so you do not have to build from scratch than SSIS. Centerprise is much more cost effective than Adeptia.
Chose Astera Data Pipeline Builder (Centerprise)
I looked at a few other options. But honestly, do not remember their names. They were excluded quickly when they came up short on functionality.
Before this tool, we used VBscript, VB.net and Excel to parse reports. These methods were much more time consuming.
Chose Astera Data Pipeline Builder (Centerprise)
After the purchase of the new company, we were required to go with their software choices until after TSA. The ETL product they had in use was Informatica. I'm sure Informatica has some great benefits for huge companies, but I am having a hard time adjusting to their style. …
Chose Astera Data Pipeline Builder (Centerprise)
We are currently looking at Mulesoft as a replacement.
Chose Astera Data Pipeline Builder (Centerprise)
We looked at some similar data integration tools, but reading the fine print of one revealed its need to scan our network - which automatically removed itself from our consideration. We will never compromise our customer's data for any reason, especially that of a suspect …
COZYROC
Chose COZYROC
We tested several other SSIS add-on packages as well. Only a few had DB2 support. And from those few COZYROC's support was the most responsive and helpful. They practically added the functionality we needed if it was not already there.
Chose COZYROC
[COZYROC integrates] with MS SSIS, Skyvia does not. [COZYROC] is a more cost affective [solution.]
Chose COZYROC
we selected COZYROC in the past because of good Microsoft dynamic 365 cloud integration. is also good because of price not too high.
Chose COZYROC
We inherited [COZYROC] from other teams [a] long time ago. Since then It's been easy to develop and easy to maintain.
Chose COZYROC
Good product, affordable and efficient customer service for a good price.
Chose COZYROC
We run both Task Factory and COZYROC. The two sets certainly have crossover but are also complementary. Neither solution provides coverage for every use case. We have also reviewed ZappySys, which again has significant crossover between the two, but some useful outlier …

Astera Centerprise is specific to EDI files. From what I've seen it can be used on EDI files across multiple industries. We use it specifically for healthcare EDI files. We do not create any files using this software because we do not have that need at CCHP, but I know the software could be used for that. CCHP uses the software to correct EDI errors and to import EDI data to our SQL data warehouse. EDI files have a layered structure so they need to be broken down in order to be loaded into the data warehouse. Without this tool we would not be able to import the files. Also, with the layered structure, fields, segments, dependencies and hierarchy, making changes manually is both risky and time consuming. Centerprise reduces the amount of time used to correct files and removes the possibility of creating other errors.

COZYROC is great if you have a number of sources or destinations where vanilla SSIS either does not provide connectors, they are difficult to work with, or they are not fully featured. SFTP is a prime example. Almost any web service is another. It also includes some nice helper components, such as script task plus. This speeds up the development of script tasks by making the configuration easier. That said, it is not a silver bullet for all your SSIS woes. I've found that none of the SSIS 3rd party components spans all my needs and generally end up running a couple of different ones to cover all the functionality required.

Pros
  • Allows for integration of custom functions.
  • Allows us to easily migrate data to and from any data source. Our department has become the go-to for automated data extracts.
  • We use emails from jobs we run in Centerprise to ensure all jobs run successfully.

  • Dynamic SOQL is very advantageous with Salesforce source task.
  • Connecting to SharePoint is simple and seamless.
  • Script Component Plus is also a very good task that we can do a lot through, that what we can't do with Script Task.

Cons
  • We have several support calls that have been labeled as to be done in the future. One is the reading of the File Definition in AcuCobol with the sign trailing in a numeric field. The handling of this would help us in several areas but we have been able to develop a work around at this point.
  • Some of the child/overlap configuration for the "RMD" seems awkward.

We've been using Astera Centerprise application for the last 6 years and we've already added EDI connect to it. Both applications are working really well for our enterprise needs so far with no issues, so we'll continue renewing the licenses.

Usability
It's very intuitive and visually descriptive. The interface is standard windows drag and drop although cut and paste are not universally available depending upon what function you're trying to do. You see the ETL and what it's doing. You can inspect the data elements the transformations and perform data previews incrementally along the data flow. You actually SEE what the results are and you can make adjustments without black box testing

Reliability and Availability
In most cases Astera is stable. However, our client experiences the error from time to time. Mostly they are related to cdc file and ServerAdminConfig.xml file.

Support Rating
Support is great! No matter if you need technical assistance or you have general questions about the tool - the support is very responsive and provides solutions quickly. They are available via various channels, which makes it very convenient to get in touch with them (Support portal, direct email contact, LinkedIn).

Alternatives Considered
We looked at continuing to use SSIS as an alternative. Although we own SSIS as part of our SQL licensing, we found that it takes a much higher skill level to create solutions. It also does not have the ability to parse unstructured data the way that Centerprise Data Integrator can. We also looked at Datawatch Monarch as a possibility but found it over-all to be cost-prohibitive. We also looked at a cheaper alternative called SimX but did not have a strong confidence in the product as we evaluated it. We landed on Centerprise Data Integrator as it met all of our business requirements and we know we could leverage it for many uses across our enterprise.

Scalability
I think Astera can do multiple things. However, we are not sure what it can do. We only know the basic features. If they can give us some kind of training, then we maybe able to benefit for it. We are planning to use their Azure connection in the future. If they can provide the training for it, it will be wonderful.

Return on Investment
  • It is tough to say on how Centerprise would have helped us with ROI. Unfortunately our project (after 3 years) was scrapped (put on hold) due to the impromptu purchase of another Crop Insurance company. But with that, Centerprise was huge in getting our warehouse loaded for our BI Team to make important decisions about our policies.

Triggers can be based on time, event or even a file or mail drop.Screenshot of the AI-powered mapping that allows users to automate the mapping process from source to destination. The tool also supports The Dynamic Layout/Template Mapping feature in Astera Centerprise that allows users to create a template dataflow that can be used to process multiple files and generate copies of the same dataflow, without changing the mapping links individually for each source dataset. Upon execution, Centerprise replaces the values dynamically and generates a new dataflow automatically for all source files.Screenshot of the two types of transformations supported by Astera Centerprise: record level and set level transformation. Record level transformations are used to create derived values by applying a Lookup, Function, or Expression to fields from a single record. Set level transformations, on the other hand, operate on a group of records and may result in the Joining, Reordering, Eliminating, or aggregating of records.
