Chose Barracuda Email Protection
We used Zix before migrating to M365 with a different mail server company. It was okay, but didn't offer all of the features Barracuda did at basically the same price point.
Barracuda Essentials has a far easier admin pannel than is provided by mimecast along with far more filtering options such as dkim. Much easier to do the initial setup along with much better support provided. Barracuda Essentials has Advanced threat protection that uses AI to …
365 defender has a tool for user security training, it is much more rudimentary than Barracudas, but the interface is much nicer. Both offer email attack testing, reporting, and training, but barracuda offers additional attack types, like file and SMS testing. Both seem to …
Barracuda is much more price-conscious and offers a total package of security products along with their training. I believe SANS training is much deeper and offers a more diverse training program, as well as ramifications for those gamified users or those not passing initial …
Both products are very similar in providing a complete package for security awareness training, education, assessment, and ongoing evaluation. KnowBe4 has more functionality for the gamification aspect and a slightly richer template base for phishing simulations. Barracuda …
We have been a long-standing customer of Barracuda Backups Cloud to Cloud and Main Backups so this was a logical extension of what we had already been doing and the positive results we had been receiving on the other products
Our decision for phishing awareness training was based on multiple factors, we wanted an all-in-one suite for email protection and awareness training for the company. Barracuda security sweet covered everything we needed but the company's needs. We didn't want a piecemeal from …
The simulation can't be scheduled. They are by default scheduled 2 weeks after the end of the module. No customization in the training. The training path is not flexible. Users are forced to go through different topics one after another. It's not possible to choose for example …
Barracuda offers a large, feature-rich platform that deeply integrates with their other email security products. It is easy to set up and it offers a large library of English campaigns
Overall the products are very similar however as Barracuda offers a one-stop shop for email security and awareness training this is better preferred from an IT Admin Perspective
Very far behind other platforms such as KnowBe4, i alsmot get the impression that Barracuda is a 10 year + older product that is no longer able to compete with the newer products. A complete overhaul is required to make it user friendly and competitive again. Phishline looks …
Because my company would like to use Hoxhunt so I used it too. Anyway, I found Hoxhunt nice and impressive helper. Hoxhunt is be like my assistant to help me filter the suspect email, prevent me from virus from email and train me to be actively as well.
Symantec was something I used in my previous company, it had some issues once in a while where I had to re-generate the code for my new ID. I know its for over all protection, but if I didn't have my phone that day, I'd be unable to log in. Hoxhunt helps that way as there is a …
I have never used another product like Hoxhunt. This is what makes it stand out to me. It is very unique and helpful that I think every business should use it.
Hoxhunt allows the user to be the primary threat detector by teaching the user how to identify threats. Symantec's service only addresses its databases and not end-user training.
It was very different and more of a hands off type of security approach. I didn't use it all that much but when I did it was not really similar at all. I didn't have the experience in terms of checking for test emails that would come through or the gamification that Hoxhunt has.
I would definitely recommend it due to the decent pricing. I wish the MS built-in M365 tools were better, but Barracuda does a good job of taking their place. For industries that need DLP on their email, like healthcare, banking, and education, Barracuda provides a reliable product for a good cost. The additional services you get, malware/AV filtering, URL filtering, spam protection, business continuity, those are all icing on the cake. The only issues we've ever really had with them is that it will sometimes take a back/forth string of emails and decide randomly to encrypt it, so what was a flowing benign conversation is now locked behind a wall for recipients. As the sender, you have no idea when it's going to decide to do this and have to remember to tag emails with a decrypt tag long before it happens or face the consequences
If emails are used for confidential communication, Hoxhunt is a HUGE benefit. I have caught myself feeling lax over emailing and clicking links. Hoxhunt makes you really evaluate safety and legitimacy of the emails that are received. We even have laughs about it at staff meetings where staff admit to getting "hoxhunted" and clicking a fake link.
The software helps us create emails that look exactly or almost exactly the same as the phishing emails we found in our email gateway.
We already use the ESS gateway from Barracuda Networks, and in the TEP bundle, this software is included, so it's not that much work to also configure this.
In the software, we can see reports on how our users performed. We can make a selection of users that are more prone to click on "false" links, and this way, we can help them individually.
Training Packages - They cover a wide range of topics that spam emails, social media and physical security such as USB sticks
Achievements as incentives - The gaming style of collecting achievements and stars for reporting emails or completing training incentivizes people to engage in a consistent and enthusiastic way.
Training Emails - They are able to replicate phishing emails in a realistic way, so it isn't easy to spot straight away meaning we now look at every email with a critical eye which makes us safer.
The #1 feedback I receive from users is that they have limited time for training. It would be nice if the training would be offered in 3-time categories (e.g. up to 3 minutes, up to 5 minutes and up to 10 minutes). This way user's can select a category that matches their availability.
More training opportunities - The Hoxhunt page itself only has a few training modules which I have completed already
An even spicier spicy mode - Scammers are always evolving, so I want to be able to identify the toughest phishing attempts.
Eliminate "missed" emails. Sometimes I don't read my inbox right away. I don't think emails should count as "missed" just because I didn't report it within a few days.
Although cost competitive, we still feel like we are not digging deep enough to train our staff. We have little to no way other than digging through reports that have not proven to be adequately documented (hey you, Barracuda campaign reports) to identify and require users to take more training who have not passed their requirements.
Regarding usability, we like it to be an easy solution to implement and configure on the server. Routine backups are made frequently and reports are issued for control and analysis by information security teams. It has great integration with the cloud and encryption.
it is very easy to use. it is clear and provides information as to why the type of email is one to look out for. It automatically takes you to the required information when you have spotted that it is a Hoxhunt email.
I have not had to use customer support yet which goes to show the effectiveness of the program. It also shows how easy the program is to use for the average person with no experience using this type of program. Our IT department also does a great job at teaching us to detect emails with malware that in combination with this software issues rarely arise even though we have over 500 employees.
We really didn't evaluate any other products. We considered using the filtering features that come with our Office 365 subscription, but just didn't feel it was sufficient protection for our business. Being a medical clinic, we felt like we needed to implement the best solution for our email protection and we found Barracuda Essentials was the leader.
Symantec was something I used in my previous company, it had some issues once in a while where I had to re-generate the code for my new ID. I know its for over all protection, but if I didn't have my phone that day, I'd be unable to log in. Hoxhunt helps that way as there is a SSO authentication and needs the fingerprint, I guess it works different for different companies based on their regulations and privacy protection. Haven't really used any other tool like this
I have been able to identify and report 3 real scam emails thanks to Hoxhunt.
Unfortunately I have no data of the overall company's benefit with regards to the use of Hoxhunt.
The training has also been helpful to me in my personal email. I think that helps with work productivity, because I haven't been in the situation where I'm worrying about having been scammed outside of work.
