Considered Both Products
Blackbaud eTapestry
Chose Blackbaud eTapestry
Blackbaud eTapestry is more user friendly for all members of the department. You don't have to be as data-minded to understand the information you put in. The cost is also a huge factor in being the perfect option for smaller organizations. You can increase the number of …
Chose Blackbaud eTapestry
Donor perfect is superior in all ways: reliability, ease of use, customer service, trainings, running reports, etc.
Chose Blackbaud eTapestry
We choose Blackbaud eTapestry ten years ago because some of the above did not exist or they did not have the features such as credit card integration and direct email. We also liked the ease of use. To create queries and to run reports are easy and to create and run …
Chose Blackbaud eTapestry
We use this suite of products in our entire division. It helps us with reports and donor management, and it is very helpful on a day-to-day basis. I enjoy the ease of use as well as the product offerings available. I would recommend using this in your development office.
Chose Blackbaud eTapestry
I have not used anything like eTapestry where all the information is kept in one place. I have used other CRMs but financial information was always kept separately.
Chose Blackbaud eTapestry
I very much prefer eTapestry to Raiser's Edge. I found the separation between the database and web view of Raiser's Edge very disorienting and didn't like having to switch back and forth between the two views to be able to complete certain tasks. I REALLY didn't like that a few …
Chose Blackbaud eTapestry
we were trying to consolidate eTapestry, our donation and event ticketing platform and our email marketing service. RE NXT would certainly have been an upgrade to eTapestry but did not offer the full functionality we were looking for.
Chose Blackbaud eTapestry
I used and set-up Salesforce.com at a previous position and Blackbaud e-Tapestry is simpler to use 'out of the box' and has a much lower learning curve. My supervisor is looking at Raiser's Edge to replace e-Tapestry for the more premium features.
Chose Blackbaud eTapestry
Blackbaud eTapestry is the most customizable out of the other databases I have worked with, however, a solution like Bloomerang is easier for inexperienced database users.
Chose Blackbaud eTapestry
We have researched 2-3 other donor platforms and we just aren't at a place to change, although we are very tempted. eTapestry is getting us by for now and we don't look forward to the day when we have to change platforms and have to change things for our monthly donors. We …
Chose Blackbaud eTapestry
Network for good is significantly more cost-effective and overall more user friendly.
Chose Blackbaud eTapestry
ETAP presents a better format and seems more powerful. But LGL is more intuitive and has more flexible options.
Chose Blackbaud eTapestry
None. At this time, eTapestry provides what we need, with a little improvement needed. This is another question for the CEO & Founder.
Chose Blackbaud eTapestry
We have compared other products and also looked at supplemental software to integrate with our events and event management software. We have looked at many other products and there is not a one that does it all.
Chose Blackbaud eTapestry
Blackbaud eTapestry is a fully cloud based system, unlike Sumac, which means it can handle continuous multi-users in real time while remaining synchronous. Everything can be stored within the system, including documents that one needs such as granting or gift agreements. Easier …
Chose Blackbaud eTapestry
With the exception of Faith Direct, which we had prior to eTapestry, and is strictly a vehicle for donations (think PayPal, WePay, GiveCentral, etc) - some of the others did not exist or were even less relevant at the time we chose eTapestry (Donor Perfect). We were interested …
Chose Blackbaud eTapestry
I just ran comparisons in 2016, and E-tapestry was the program that fit us best.
Chose Blackbaud eTapestry
I was not involved in the selection of Blackbaud eTapestry. However, in comparing it to my experience with Raiser's Edge, this program is more user-friendly despite the learning curve battle of the query and reports section of eTapestry.
Chose Blackbaud eTapestry
I think constant contact is somewhat easier to use and has more graphic capabilities
Chose Blackbaud eTapestry
I have used canvas from a students perspective and it is very easy to navigate, contact people and submit assignments.
Chose Blackbaud eTapestry
Blackbaud eTapestry is not as robust as Blackbaud Raiser's Edge. However, eTapestry provides strong value for the cost. It is much less expensive than using Raiser's Edge.
Kindful (discontinued, now part of Bloomerang)
Chose Kindful (discontinued, now part of Bloomerang)
Kindful is cheaper than RE so we went with it. However, Kindful does not have as many features and is less robust than RE.
Chose Kindful (discontinued, now part of Bloomerang)
Because of the easy-to-use drag-and-drop function, teams do not have to call website design-proficient professionals to assist them since Populr also supports collaboration and entire teams can work together to come up with a beautifully designed website and one that is readable.
Chose Kindful (discontinued, now part of Bloomerang)
All similar services. I preferred Kindful because of the user interface and also because of a personal recommendation from another user.
Chose Kindful (discontinued, now part of Bloomerang)
I did a search of over 10 different companies (not finding my notes on this now). Kindful was the perfect fit for our sized organization and they gave us the best rate and transition benefits.
Chose Kindful (discontinued, now part of Bloomerang)
  • Kindful is a one-stop-shop solution (whereas Salesforce and Dynamics require add-ons)
  • Kindful is much more affordable than Virtuous, Salesforce, Microsoft when your team grows
  • There are many more integrations available than with all competitors we evaluated
Chose Kindful (discontinued, now part of Bloomerang)
The cost alone for Breeze is $50 a month versus Kindful which is approx $330 a month. Add to Kindful the staff hours paid to work with the onboarding experience and mistakes, the investment was a high mistake.
Chose Kindful (discontinued, now part of Bloomerang)
Raisers Edge has been in this field for much longer than the newcomer, Kindful. One advantage Rasers Edge has is the ability to store copies of correspondence letters among contacts within their database. With Kindful, you would need print copies and store in a file cabinet …
Chose Kindful (discontinued, now part of Bloomerang)
KIndful stacks up well against the competition for a small organization with limited capacity. We selected Kindful initially because we thought its simplicity would allow us to have multiple users with various roles input data including donor contact. I've used a lot of …

We never used NeonCRM. We have only researched them. At the time of subscription, we felt Kindful was the best direction for our organization.
Chose Kindful (discontinued, now part of Bloomerang)
We recently added HarnessApp to our software tools. Harness has a strong donor interface but not the backbone that Kindful has to offer. We find them a good match. I looked at dozens of other platforms that compare to Kindful but we always find ourselves sticking with Kindful …
Chose Kindful (discontinued, now part of Bloomerang)
Kindful is like night and day compared to Neon. Neon is the dark ages in terms of interface and functionality and Kindful is the industrial revolution.
Chose Kindful (discontinued, now part of Bloomerang)
Actually, since I have been here, we have only used Kindful. We discussed using another product at one time (I do not remember the name), but decided to continue with Kindful. I am glad we did. I have contacted them in the past when I have a problem figuring something out …
Chose Kindful (discontinued, now part of Bloomerang)
The ease of use of Kindful was far and away better than LGL. While the free option for LGL was originally tempting, Kindful's dashboard, functionality, and ease of use made the transition almost a no brainer. We needed to make the investment in our ongoing growth, and it was …
Chose Kindful (discontinued, now part of Bloomerang)
Kindful was cheaper and had functions that better suited our needs. The donation pages and donor management were better than the competitors for the price.
Chose Kindful (discontinued, now part of Bloomerang)
Kindful blows Capsule out of the water as a donor management system. Kindful was built for nonprofit fundraising, where Capsule is better for sales.
Chose Kindful (discontinued, now part of Bloomerang)
We had all of these connected at one time. Kindful still is the best in customer service, and the ease of use making sure what comes in real-time is placed where needed. Eventbrite is just an older connection, so we didn't have real-time data and it also created multiple …
Chose Kindful (discontinued, now part of Bloomerang)
We also looked at DonorPerfect and Salesforce, and both were too expensive for our budget. Kindful was user-friendly and affordable. Breeze CHMS is what we switched from because it didn't meet all of our reporting needs, although it's great for a church without those needs. …
Chose Kindful (discontinued, now part of Bloomerang)
Overall, Kindful is a way better CRM System than DonorSnap in part because the system is user-friendly, keeps good track of donor's data, donations and pledges, and integrates really well with many different apps (which DonorSnap lacks). Also, Kindful has different button …

As we are a small Foundation with only one Administrative Assistant, eTapestry is perfect for me to keep all of our CRM. Once I got used to how it worked, I found it to be user friendly. If I have any problems, I can either try to find the answer for myself in the extensive library, chat to support or email our Customer Service Representative with questions. I cannot fault either the Support team or Customer Service Representatives I have dealt with over the years as all of them have been knowledgeable and extremely helpful. I would prefer to have better options within the Email section as the templates are very basic. There is another option to use an eTapestry partner, but there are additional costs involved in that. The email templates are OK to use if you wish to send quick information to your database.

If your primary goals are: the ability to accept online donations [best/easiest to use donation form I've seen], acknowledge donors, and keep constituent data in one location - and you're willing to look for integrated solutions for other specific uses based on your needs - Kindful is for you. Bonus: Pricing for Kindful makes it easy to find the budget for other integrated solutions... because even if it doesn't do it all - it is still really inexpensive for what it does accomplish.

Pros
  • Report Scheduling is great. Reports can be scheduled daily (even on specific days of the week), weekly, or monthly) and auto-emailed.
  • Reports can be displayed on the screen, downloaded, or emailed in CSV, excel, or pdf and can have columns pre-sorted in your preferred order.
  • Online donations are automatically added to the donor's account and automatically create an account for a new donor.
  • Campaign pages are easy to set up and donor information is captured for use in managing these donors long term.
  • Kindful syncs with a number of useful and applicable apps such as Eventbrite which reduces the amount of time we need to spend on administration.

Cons
  • You can't use the Back feature on your browser to return to the previous page.
  • You can't use it in more than one browser window to compare or analyze information
  • The query functionality is complicated and it is hard to get what you're looking for if you're not well trained.

  • Program Management - the system is still evolving which is great, but it currently does not fill every single program management and event management need that we have.
  • Mail sync - Kindful no longer syncs with Gmail, which is a big issue with tracking emails and attaching those interactions to specific people.

We do not always get positive solutions from Etapestry. There are a lot of resources and solutions that you can read about and reach out to. I participate in Community Forums and trainings to see what we can be doing differently.

Usability
It's usable and very convenient, but not always intuitive. For example, we had difficulties figuring out how to pull a list of donors from a specific 12-month period. There were many settings and options, so it was very trial and error.

Reliability and Availability
I have never had an issue accessing eTapestry. It does occasionally go down for maintenance. When that happens, they give you a lot of notice and generally schedule maintenance for hours between midnight and 6am so that business won't be disrupted.

I've had nothing but great experience when reaching out for support on this program. The team has always been supportive and polite when answering questions. They have a lot of knowledge to share and provide good insight into the product. It helps to have their perspective on certain issues

I have not utilized the support for Kindful very often but the one time I have was fantastic. It was quick, courteous and thorough. Kindful consistently offers Webinars that outline the best way to utilize their product and get the most out of it. I think Kindful does a pretty solid job with support.

They explained everything well to us throughout the process. It was easy to find resources needed to answer any questions that we had. Support was also available should we need further assistance from the resources found online. They were also quick to respond to our teams inquiries, which was much appreciated.

I was not there for the implementation of this platform. Unfortunately I am unable to just skip this question as it requires a response, which needs to be fifty characters, so here we are. At thirty four, I need to add a few more words to satisfy this requirement. Done.

I very much prefer eTapestry to Raiser's Edge. I found the separation between the database and web view of Raiser's Edge very disorienting and didn't like having to switch back and forth between the two views to be able to complete certain tasks. I REALLY didn't like that a few tasks had to be done in both database and web view. Although it was worded as an "upgrade", I felt that we lost a lot of functionality, in particular with gift imports. I also didn't like gifts from the website having to land in Online Express, rather than being able to go directly into a constituent account

Return on Investment
  • Increased our capacity to fundraise.
  • Allowed more opportunity to know our donors (tracking and data collection).
  • Limited users - due to steep learning curve - as such less of our development staff know how to use the system to its fullest potential.

  • Kindful's customer service team has saved us a lot of time and effort by being extremely helpful. I can't speak highly enough about the customer service they offer.
