Considered Both Products
GoCardless
Chose GoCardless
GoCardless sends an email when a customer signs up in the portal which is crucial. We have many issues with not knowing when a customer has signed up to make a payment. GoCardless is seamless with a checkbox that makes this function possible. Our other software does not do …
Chose GoCardless
GoCardless better fit Kanopy's needs for the following reasons: (1) desire to decrease credit card payments which carry higher costs, (2) single payment solution for 12+ countries via direct debit at no fees for customers, and (3) better customer integration potential for …
Chose GoCardless
We didn't research a lot of platforms as GoCardless offered pretty much everything we were looking for, i.e low cost, easy to use & implement.
Chose GoCardless
It stacks up well against Stripe but I think they serve different purposes. Stripe is better when it comes to integrations, GoCardless is great for recurring payments, particularly for service-based businesses.
Chose GoCardless
GoCardless provides a simple way to take one-off card payments or set up direct debits for customers. Payment links can be included on electronic invoices, and certainly, from a UK perspective, it provides a more professional appearance than using, say, PayPal for …
Chose GoCardless
For direct debit it is superb. Integration is much easier, and it supports the different strands of our company's UK and European payments landscape.
Chose GoCardless
Gocardless had no integration or monthly fees. You only pay for what you use. Windcave has monthly fees (and a setup fee).
Chose GoCardless
[GoCardless has] lower fees and is easier to use.
iATS Payments
Chose iATS Payments
iATS has a lot more functionality than PayPal, particularly when it comes to Salesforce integrations. Click&Pledge has the best Salesforce integration, while Classy has the slickest UI.
Chose iATS Payments
Authorize.Net does not currently integrate with Salesforce which was a critical function that we needed, so we switched to iATS a little over 2 years ago once we implemented our Salesforce database. We are currently in the process of switching to Classy/WePay for the added …
Chose iATS Payments
Each of the products listed above have positive and negative features. We still use each of the services listed, in addition to FoxyCart, and each one performs a different function for us. To be honest, I wish that we had one payment processor that we could use for all our …

I think it's a great payment gateway for small businesses which are new to the business and looking for something low budget & an easy-to-use platform to begin accepting the payments. It does streamline the cash flow & gives good visibility to payment status but sometimes it takes 3-4 days in the reconciliation of balances which might not be suitable for businesses looking to have a quick turn-around-time of balances.

If you just need a basic payment processor, then iATS will work fine. If you are looking for more advanced integrations or automated functions then you may want to keep looking. We've utilized iATS for over 2 years and are currently in the process of switching to Classy/WePay due to the extra features they offer.

Cons
  • Reduction in fees for customers who use it for large volumes of clients
  • Easier for clients to review their payment plans
  • Payment sooner to our bank account

  • Website form integration into Salesforce needs improvement. You can create custom questions on your website, but there is no way to have the data import into certain fields, it only syncs to the database in the iATS fields, which makes reporting very difficult.
  • It's very tedious to set up a recurring donation, in fact, every time I do it I have to have their support team walk me through and ensure it's set up correctly.
  • No option for donors to elect to cover the transaction fees.
  • Automatic email notifications from online transactions are limited.
  • Sometimes (but not always) there is a one day delay in the transactions syncing to the database.

Usability
It has a good web dashboard, you can see who has paid, who hasn’t, when payments will be taken from client and when they will arrive in the bank account

Support Rating
There is no phone support, email only, and the support is slow coming. The support staff often don't read your support query properly, so you waste time having to re-explain yourself. That is the only downside of this product.

There are some situations where i would choose iATS, but there are other excellent competitors that should be considered as well. Which you choose will depend on your particular needs, the size of your organization and what functionality you need
