We previously utilized Miradore MDM for all of our tablets and management. We have since made the switch to Hexnode UEM and are migrating all of our tablets to it instead. We have saved money with this switch and we have been able to easily remove our tablets from Miradore and …

I am currently using both the platforms, Hexnode UEM and Esper. Esper is used for managing mobile devices and Lenovo Tablets while Hexnode UEM is being used for Microsoft tablets. The basic framework behind both of them is almost the same. Both of them have a clean and …

Far better than Drata because the Drata solution felt like an MVP (minimum viable product). Comparatively you can do tons more with Hexnode UEM at a comparable price point. Drata did however did have broader OS support, but Drata's lack of configurability left it as only a …

Several UEMs enable kiosks, and Hexnode's customizing options are unmatched. For instance, we may entirely redesign the smartphone, starting with the lock screen and home screen backgrounds, to include your brand and company logo. The customer support they provide are also a …
Chose Hexnode UEM
The tech support and the customization of the features they provided are great. Along with the BYOD help they provided helped manage the devices during the COVID lockdown with ease.
Chose Hexnode UEM
The ease of management of the devices with Hexnode was great.
It was extremely easy to use and easy to understand for the team.
The customer support they provided great as well.

We also looked into ZOHO Mobile Engine.
Chose Hexnode UEM
We were in the market for a solution that would reduce the workload on our client and the initial choice was Scalefusion; however, on getting a free trial, the UI wasn't that easy to use, and Scalefusion seemed like a smaller company which is new to endpoint management. Whereas …

Mobileiron was very expensive in comparison to Hexnode UEM
Chose Hexnode UEM
Hexnode UEM offers a better solution at a lower price than scalefusion MDM
Chose Hexnode UEM
We tried Jamf Pro for the same but the UI looked a bit dated and while Jamf is a more established product, it did not have multi-OS support which was one of our primary requirements. Hexnode on the other hand had a smoother UI and offered a better value for the money spent.
Chose Hexnode UEM
Google MDM did not have the kiosk lockdown mechanism like Hexnode so went with Hexnode and it turned out really well!
Chose Hexnode UEM
ManageEngine was confusing and hard to get support from, in my experience. We use other products from ManageEngine and it is always a headache to get a hold of them. Hexnode UEM is two clicks and you are talking to someone on their live chat pretty much all day. ManageEngine …

Chose Kandji
Both MDMs have issues with employee's laptop passwords and being able to reset those password. We switched to Kandji because laptop PWs were connected to Gmail PWs. However, there were continous "password sync" errors that it ended up being a huge headache for everyone.
Chose Kandji
Overall, my organization is an iOS-heavy company, and Kandji struck a good balance of user experience and good automations.
Chose Kandji
With Intune, they aren’t friendly with Macs. We had to add each app individually and constantly update the packages for updates. Even when we do everything right, it still doesn’t work all the time.

Hexnode was best suited for us to manage android devices and more specifically for Kiosk Lockdown and restrictions. Hexnode being a UEM offers support for platforms as well. It certainly does open doors for us to increase and take up more devices under the management of Hexnode. As said earlier, Hexnode does not support wearables as of now; would be great if they could start supporting them soon.

Kandji would be excellent for a company that has Mac fleets and is currently using Intune or Jamf as their MDM. Kandji is cheaper than Jamf and way easy to configure than Intune.

Cons
  • We utilize a small number of Windows devices in addition to Android ones, however, Hexnode UEM has very few Windows-specific restrictions compared to those for other platforms.
  • When we turned on the remote control, the Hexnode for Work app would periodically crash.
  • We had to get in touch with their tech support to resolve the issue because the Multi app kiosk mode for Windows devices was not correctly pushed.

Usability
UX is pretty good, but various screens are a bit redundant. Managing user and managing devices is often one in the same operation, but is broken across multiple screens. Device management policies are strange because if you make a "macOS" policy, why does it have all the Windows, iOS, Android etc options? It's unlikely you'll want all of these options for all possible OSes in one policy, but that's the only way to build a policy. Manage policy changes require remote system restart which is highly disruptive to employees.

Switching from our old MDM to Kandji: "We'll set you right up with an integration specialist" and it'll be "so easy." Greatly incorrect. The change took months and was a disaster at best. So many things I had to figure out that they never mentioned, or I had to keep going back to them to get more information. "Oh, we forgot to mention that!" - said about a dozen times. Also, I had to go to our former MDM to ask them how to do it because "Kandji can only help on the Kandji side of things - not the other MDM side." Well yes, but then don't make it sound like you can and will do that part in the first place!

Return on Investment
  • We already had someone try to walk away with an ipad after deploying Hexnode, and we were immediately able to force an activation lock telling them to bring it back and they did.
  • It has saved us a lot of time setting up ios devices as we have a limited amount of IT staff and Hexnode makes it take probably around ten minutes an ipad.
  • Employee experience has improved since we can reset code remotely and they no longer have to send the ipads back to the corporate office to get reset.

  • They promised us we could add devices as needed. I even had that written in an email. However, they rescinded that promise and required us to add devices in buckets of 50. That means, since we had 55 users, we had to pay for 100 licenses.
  • Password issues were made much worse by using Kandji instead of our old MDM (Hexnode).
  • Overall, Kandji created major headaches with laptop instead of improving.
