IBM Planning Analytics with Watson will be up and running more quickly and be easier to maintain if modeling flexibility, scale, and the ability to plan at greater levels of detail are important requirements.

I worked with Hyperion a long time ago. It was not a Oracle product yet. One great feature of this solution that was really great at the time, was the modeling process of ir, with a very robust engine for sparse cubes. the performance was excellent at the time. But today I can …
Chose IBM Planning Analytics
IBM Planning Analytics with Watson is much more flexible and scalable in comparison. IBM PAW is the clear winner for our organization's successful planning and analysis needs.
Chose IBM Planning Analytics
Anaplan does not handle sparsity; this is very problematic for large volume data sets (many 0's). There also are limitations to the number of dimensions that can be used in a module. If more dimensions are required, then separate modules need to be built and intertwined. IBM PA …

Chose Predictive Index Behavioral Assessment
In my years as an HR admin, I have not tried any other programs like this one.
Chose Predictive Index Behavioral Assessment
Many years ago, I utilized Personalysis and it tended to put people into one of 4 main color groups. It also helped with knowing how to communicate with others. I like PI because there are so many Behavioral Profiles.
Chose Predictive Index Behavioral Assessment
I have used MBTI, Strengthsfinder, Disc, Kolbe among others. I find they all have their place. PI was already in use at my company when I joined. However, as I became certified and used it more, I have found it very effective. The reports have just the right amount of …
Chose Predictive Index Behavioral Assessment
PI is way better - the Wonderlic is very limited in what information it can provide you with a candidate.
Chose Predictive Index Behavioral Assessment
PI is a much simpler profile to manage and is clearly about behavior instead of personality.
Chose Predictive Index Behavioral Assessment
I have only used PI. We assessed Culture Index recently to see if there were additional factors that would be helpful, however found it to be poorly worded and with significantly fewer resources for education, training and overall use.
Chose Predictive Index Behavioral Assessment
[We selected PI Behavioral Assessment because we] Can tailor it to positions. Provides clear data.
Chose Predictive Index Behavioral Assessment
PI is simple to use, in a short time scale but provides startling insight into the individual.
Chose Predictive Index Behavioral Assessment
The only other type of Behavioral Assessment I've used is the Strengths Finder and I don't know that I'd say it's anything like PI. It still gives us great information about a persons strengths but PI tells us more about a persons motivations.
Chose Predictive Index Behavioral Assessment
DISC is similar but really only focuses on the employee in a business setting. The PI Behavioral Assessment looks at the employee as a person as well as an employee. It is not how you respond to a question but what attributes you have.
Chose Predictive Index Behavioral Assessment
I haven't used any other assessments in the past, so I don't have anything to compare to...unfortunately. I think the PI is probably the strongest assessment out there, and most accurate. It's used worldwide, and has scientific backing to prove its validity. If I were to …
Chose Predictive Index Behavioral Assessment
The other assessments that we examined felt more like an SAT exam than a recruitment tool. The results were difficult for our managers to read through and understand. There were a lot of words, with very little actually being said. The PI was succinct and precise.
Chose Predictive Index Behavioral Assessment
From 2011-2016 we used DiSC and PI Behavioral Assessment together. We found DiSC to be more employee friendly, meaning employees don't need to be trainined administrators to understand their own report. However, our DiSC trained employee has left, and we opted to stick with …
Chose Predictive Index Behavioral Assessment
We haven't used any other assessments to compare against it. We've been in love with PI since we started.
Chose Predictive Index Behavioral Assessment
We also use a Bartell Assessment for managers.
Chose Predictive Index Behavioral Assessment
We use multiple assessments for a variety of reasons. This one is the most versatile that we have. Others we use either for individual development or team development, but PI is the only one we use for Recruiting, individual development and team development.
Chose Predictive Index Behavioral Assessment
We evaluated a number of alternatives. Most of them were cost prohibitive because they wanted to charge us per survey. We have a very seasonal workforce so that cost model was not going to work for us. With PI we have a fixed cost each year. Easy to budget... no guessing or …
Chose Predictive Index Behavioral Assessment
Most of the other assessments in the marketplace are lengthy and complicated. The PI Behavioral Assessment is so user-friendly that many job applicants have told me they prefer it over other assessments they have taken. The other great thing about the PI assessment is that it …

IBM Planning AnalyticsPredictive Index Behavioral Assessment
Likelihood to Recommend
For a CFO or a COO to do budgeting and planning, IBM Planning Analytics would be essential. It is a tool that can take in multiple data sources and showcase them in a multidimensional way. If you are looking just for a BI or reporting tool, Planning Analytics would be considered "overkill".

Predictive Index has served us well so far in helping determine key personality traits of salespeople we hire. How will they sell? Is sales a good fit for them? We have not expanded to use it with other teams/depts yet. We primarily use the behavioral assessment (not cognitive).

Cons
  • sometimes it is hard to produce pixel perfect reports from the Web UI. I know it is not made for this, but still, it'll be great
  • getting in e.g. an Excel file just by drag and drop, and the AI should "understand" what the data is all around

  • In Beta -> Hire -> New Candidates - > I would like to see the ability to create 1 or 2 additional "Type" folders that can be customized for my company. By being able to do this, I can more efficiently manage my potential candidates, rather that every time I go to review a position, having to make these individual selections each time. I would like the favorite icon and the pass icon to remain; however find it extraneous to have to sort through these candidates each time.

Since IBM Cognos Express is suitable only for medium data warehouse environment, we are not sure if this tool solves the long term need as the business keeps growing rapidly. So its a 50/50 ratio to renew Express license. But having said that, the components of IBM Cognos Express are also available in other Cognos BI suites like Cognos 10.x version. So we will probably upgrade our environment to IBM Cognos 10.x which comes with more new features.

Usability
IBM Planning Analytics is generally good in terms of functionalities. It can be used reduce time for budget planning, resource planning, demand forecasting, etc. The performance of IBM Planning Analytics is acceptable, but user interface can be improved. It would be good to see new features that allow users to customise the dashboard.

Very easy to use for both administrators and those taking the assessment. This tool is really a game-changer for staffing, onboarding, and retention. It is like having a crystal ball sometimes with insights into the behaviors of job candidates and is critical for finding the right person for the right role.

Support Rating
Although I find the IBM Planning analytics documentation quite time consuming, their support with email and call is something i can term as very considerate and patient, I have had few calls about the features and how i would want to implement them within my projects, and the teams have been super helpful to resolve my issues

The Customer Success team has been quite helpful during the times that I've interreacted with them. I've also found support and implementation to be responsive with any questions related to the initial set up phase or for on going support. Overall we've been pleased with the support offered by Predictive Index Behavioral Assessment.

Alternatives Considered
For strong technical teams and flexibility IBM Planning Analytics is the way to go. For quicker adoption and less technical teams Anaplan is the best option. If consolidation, financials, and moving from legacy tools are main focus than OneStream will be a really good choice. If deeply invested into SAP already than the SAP BPC will be the best fit to maintain the investment.

  • Much higher degree of accuracy in forecasting with the use of predictive analysis from historical data
  • Dozens of man hours saved in routine processes that are now handled with minimal human interaction
  • One system that holds the "source of truth," consolidating multiple systems together that were only accessible individually before

  • The PI has been very helpful when analyzing employees. You cannot go wrong when you are able to see a candidate or employees work style.
  • The ROI is very positive. A lot of companies have a specific culture that they are trying to create or adhere to. This software helps you see if an employee would be a good fit for your company or not.
