Chose IBM Targetprocess
Apptio Targetprocess has more features and is more flexible for our users and its easier to develop automation rules and metrics than Atlassian Jira Alige or Planview AgilePlan.
Chose IBM Targetprocess
It’s better because of its flexibility and ability to support agile at scale as well as portfolio management in one tool.

I wasn't a decisionmaker on the adoption of Apptio Targetprocess over the competitors so I can't clearly speak to this question.

Chose PTC Windchill RV&S
Nothing compares with PTC Integrity.
Chose PTC Windchill RV&S
I think the reason that PTC Integrity was initially chosen is that it was the best product available in the mix at the time. This coupled with the PTC deal on multiple products was a no brainer based on the size and scope of potential users.
Chose PTC Windchill RV&S
It allows for all functions (analyst, developer, tester and release manager) to be completed using one tool.
Chose PTC Windchill RV&S
We evaluated IBM's offering and CMstat. IBM's offering is "klugy", we needed Rhapsody, ClearQuest and ClearCase to get all the components to answer our requirements. And it's very costly. CMstat offered a good change managment solution, but was lacking in version control …

MKS integrity does well in some areas such as merging changes into the main trunk and managing change sets. We actually selected Git after using MKS integrity for over 7 years.
Chose PTC Windchill RV&S
MKS Integrity is a toolbox of components that you can use to create any Software Change Configuration Management system to fit your own organization. This was the main reason why we went with Integrity over the other solutions that were evaluated.

Apptio Targetprocess is well suited to track work and progress of that work. In addition it is easy to tie that work to OKRs. Cost and hours rollup across the work hierarchy works well. Our users like the flexibility of Targetprocess and the ability to develop their own views and reports Scenarios where it is less appropriate is to do executive level reporting and develop reports that can pull in all of our time data since there is a 300k record limit

We enjoy doing requirement mappings. The enhancement in transferring them between models is great. It is for innovation all the time a challenge to conduct them. We have two major scenarios for that task set. One is to integrate already well-validated models into greater sets. The other is defining totally new ones. We developed new strategies and refined the existing ones. We rate the synching requirement configurations as comfortable. The processes of synching the items back to the models. The major advantage is to optionally synchronize all-important and intended traceability relationships from Modeler so that both can be given the correct right the right group of uses while others only see the structures. We too prefer the handling of deletion and creation. It is a real advantage how the mapping and relation are implemented. The implemented integration to third-party tools for requirements definition and management is a plus. We like the profiling features and the high compliance to industrial standards as well as the module variability modeling.Windchill RV&S makes us perform better and let us take over control. It enhances our return-of-investment efficiencies to the top. The only drawbacks are the high skill levels needed and the necessary relation in businesses to make the profits. Another topic is the resources that are needed.

Pros
  • Basic flexibility out of the box is a big advantage for a small company without resources to customize, as is needed for some of the larger competitors.
  • The support is second to none. They've even written custom TP queries to get me what I want.
  • They have managed to cover all the basics of product development in one product, in particular, the inclusion of customer support (although limited) is a big selling point for a small company.

  • It allows the user the ability to link all aspects of the SDLC together so that there is only one source of documentation and information rather than having to search in multiple places.
  • It is very customizable to suit a particular businesses needs.
  • It is helpful for all areas of software development.

Cons
  • The UI is bit complex for new users who never used it. i think this can be sorted out by providing the steps to access?
  • dashboards with large datasets can cause performance lags or timeouts
  • Introduce more flexible, template-based RBAC configurations.

  • Main trunk is not protected and has no pre-conditions before committing a fix or feature to it.
  • Conducting reviews is not possible. there is no avenue for people to comment on a check in
  • When working with multiple snadboxes, the client seems to freeze up and needs to be started.

Targetprocess is the most flexible application for tracking work among teams that we have found. This power comes from near limitless ability to customize your views on the work tracked in the system, and from the myriad reporting options to draw metrics and stats out of the data there. Custom fields, processes, and mashups all add to this flexibility and appeal.

I do not make decisions on what tool my company uses. I am just the user of the tool and such decisions are not handled by me. If I were to make such decisions, I would definitely renew MKS, considering the amount of data we have stored in MKS and the current number of users who are familiar with the system

Usability
The UI is intuitive and consistent. The complexity of the app means there is a steep learning curve though, but it is well worth putting in the effort to get the most out of the tool. We have some team members who are learning new ways of doing things after 1-2 years of working in Targetprocess.

PTC Integrity comparatively could be considered a nice Source code management, Version controlling tool and could be compared with tools like StarTeam. If the integration to move/migrate code could be integrated into this tool, it would become an extremely powerful tool.

Performance
Reports are fast loading, considering they can refresh in a second or less and we have 7 years of work tracked in over 40k entities. Pages can load slowly when the views are very busy, but not frustratingly. I am a console user most of my career and generally prefer it over webUI interfaces, but Targetprocess won me over from the beginning and I spend half my day using it now.

Support Rating
TargetProcess' support is one of its strengths. The support team is very responsive and helpful when there is a problem but they're also proactive in providing good release notes and engaging with the community through a voting scheme to influence the priority of new features.
The team also releases new versions frequently with new features but with no knock-ons to currently working features.

PTC Integrity administration can be somewhat daunting. They have been able to help with every question that I have submitted. Their support website is very easy to understand and submit questions and their phone support is wonderful

Implementation Rating
You should take some time to get everyone to agree how the system should be setup before work starts being tracked in Targetprocess, this avoids difficult and disruptive changes to processes or plugins later when everyone relies on it daily.

There are some tools which are available for free like GitHub. I've used StarTeam when it was a product of Borland, and while using PTC Integrity, I feel PTC Integrity has most of the features which were available in StarTeam. Although there are some other free tools like Tortoise SVN, it's always better to stick with tools which are licensed and supported in case of any issues/problems.
