IDrive Online Backup and Object Storage e2 vs. Veeam Backup for AWS

IDrive really excels at automating the backup process by allowing you the ability to schedule them as desired as well as enable continuous protection in real time so your data stays backed up. It also excels at allowing customization of not just the desired data you want backed up but also where you want the data to be back up too (online, local, or express service) as well as various sources to pull from (computer, mobile, external hard drive, etc). Only scenario where I believe IDrive is not really appropriate is if you are looking for an unlimited storage option since IDrive packages all of have a finite storage limit

Veeam Backup for AWS works best on the AWS environment. However, it falls short on other cloud infrastructures as well as on hybrid or multi-cloud environments. So it is highly imperative to ascertain the needs of your clients keeping in mind the criticality of the workloads, the data transmission, the network, security, and the infrastructure before deciding on which backup to suggest.

• I'm using it on MAC, the app works very well in the background
• Logging activities is something I really like, because I can check whether the backup was successful or not.
• I really like the option of being able to select external drivers and back up only specific folders or files.
• The application itself is very easy to use, even though it doesn't have a version in my language (pt-br), I had no trouble setting it up and I'm using it without any problems.

• DropBox-protected folders were not initially backed up as IDrive Online Backup and Object Storage e2 did not follow the symbolic links created
• I experienced some UX confusion in adding new folders to backup; it's a different interface than setting up exclusions, and they should follow the same workflow and page buttons
• After a reboot, it appears like a full disk scan is performed which can take quite a long time on a disk which has many files and lots of space

It does everything that it needs to to create an effecitve Three level backup to the cloud of all your important data, its reliable, dependable and peformant in its use cases. It overcomes the need to store offsite physical media such as Tape or disk storage. And its cost and level of reporting can be tailored to fit the use case of your business.

There are intentions to renew Veeam backup. the reasons are
pretty straightforward and self-explanatory. Veeam PM provides best backup
solution which can be explored from the answers to other questions. other
obvious reason, moving from one platform to other platform is expensive
exercise plus it's a time consuming exercise. So till the time Veeam costs and
the features are in line with enterprise expectation well good

IDrive Online Backup and Object Storage e2 is already an incredibly idea user experience, so it's tough to think of thing. The only area I experienced that could be improved would be streamlining / tutorializing the first time setup for newer users (like me) since there are so many options available. I suppose a 'Pro Mode' where quicker file searching / backup setting up / set management would be great, once I've gotten really used to IDrive Online Backup and Object Storage e2 and want to make changes as quick as using a terminal.

I think that this factor is the best benefit to use Veeam Backup for AWS. It is really to use and the user experience is really amaizing. Our backup operators are doing his jobs easier than other solution than we had in the past.

Veeam Backup has never failed me, whenever we have needed to recover data it has worked flawlessly. It is highly available and I do not know of of a situation where our business has needed Veeam Backup fo AWS and has not been able to access or use it in some way.

We have not really noticed much difference and only notice it when doing work afterhours with our veeam being backed up. However, this is not the case as we do not do this often and hence we don't really have any real challenges for performance issues. Overall, we find that the performance is pretty good

I have not had to use their tech support. I did call once but luckily figured out what to do while I was on hold so I disconnected. If I really needed them it would have been a very long hold time I suppose.

One of the best and leading backup solution with central management for all Virtual Servers, Physical servers and Application level backup. Migrated from distributed backup solution running at each site to central VEEAM solution which has reduced overhead of backup administrator and improves the backup performance. Veeam team is very supportive in solution design, taken care of all our requirements and provided the cost effective solution.

We had only one due to the pandemic, but we remember really enjoying the help. Someone came to our site and walked us through the process and we had lots of time to ask questions and got really helpful solutions and tips and tricks to make sure that staff would understand and learn how to use it

The training provided online was good. The training was restrictive to users but was content was good and informative. The information provided was relevent and flow was maintained well. The Question and answers were good and supported well. Need to have more material provided with the training and will support users to adopt train the trainer approach.

We were pretty happy with our implementation as it was simple to deploy and we followed the technical guide online with out much technical assistance from vendor support. We had also tested and streamlined a process based on our own documentation for our own company which was simple to follow overall for deploying into AWS for future instances

I was a Backblaze user for 5 years because they had a very cost effective plan for my storage needs. However, they were very poor at backing up external devices quickly, and made it a pain in the butt to keep the backups active due to their 30 days connectivity policy.

Dropbox is a great fit for cloud backup when you need to access the backup files in the cloud frequently.

IDrive is the best solution out there for true backup of devices in case they are damaged or lost.

The cost has been better that other cloud storage options. Also, the flexibility to run on various hardware and flexibility to store in various locations has been a big selling point. Unitrends was easier to setup and manage as hardware was included. But, with knowledgeable staff, I'm able to manage this backup environment better than ever now.

We have using this solution since 2020. In that moment we had four Host Linux and today we have forty vm Linux and Windows. The solution work fine as with few vm as multiples vm. The backup operators lovely this feacture, because keep simple his duties. Finally, we use the same solution for AWS, Azure or onpremise. This is great characteristic for skill transfer over backup team!

• For individual users such as my case, the savings with the Personal plan are important compared to alternatives like ElephantDrive. For 5TB ElephantDrive costs $600/yr in the comparable Family plan, whereas IDrive Online Backup and Object Storage e2 costs only $99.50/yr.

• Personally, I find that it helps me save a lot of time and effort as it is pretty easy to use and user-friendly. Veaam has proven to be a very reliable backup option for us over the past year.
• Depending on the size and complexity of your AWS environment, backup and recovery performance may not be as fast as you would like. This can be particularly challenging if you have large volumes of data or need to perform backups frequently.
