LogMeIn Pro by GoTo is better but costs more. We use both LogMeIn Pro by GoTo and Teamviewer.

I think TeamViewer is a better product overall. It has a cleaner user interface. it allows you to use multiple machines much more easily. It is also faster to use and faster to log in and out of.

LogMeIn Pro is better suited for commercial enterprises as it has got good vendor support, is value for money and comes with a host of features other than screen sharing including secure file transfer. It is light-weight, easy to work with and no installation literally …

LogMeIn works well for small number of devices that need unattended remote access. For cost, LogMeIn in similar to GoToMyPC - works about the same - has similar features for about same cost
Chose LogMeIn Pro by GoTo
LogMeIn has the edge over TeamViewer and GoToMyPC when it comes to accessing/managing multiple machines. The interface is much cleaner and, at least in my experience, connectivity through LogMeIn has proven to be quite a bit more reliable than the other solutions. The one area …

Well, the inventory aspect of LMI is not as robust and detailed as Kaseya. Also, the placement of key tools like the command line, and file transfer, outside of the window is annoying.

LogMeIn Rescue offers a range of products tailored to various remote access use cases. LogMeIn Pro and LogMeIn Rescue both enable remote desktop access, but serve distinct remote access situations.

LogMeIn Pro can serve as a more fo a self-service remote access tool for non-IT specialists to use, most commonly in SMBs. Users can access their own desktops remotely, as well as office IoT devices like printers and other devices that facilitate day-to-day office work. In contrast, LogMeIn Rescue is specialized for remote IT support.

Features

LogMeIn Pro and Rescue both have strengths tailored to their respective use cases.

LogMeIn Pro is for less technically specialized users who need to remotely access their own devices. While can also function as a support tool, it uniquely enables more casual end-users to access their own desktops or secondary office resources, such as printers. Reviews highlight Pro’s excellent file transfer and management capabilities, which are crucial for end-user functionality. Its native integration with LastPass also makes password management across devices much easier.

LogMeIn Rescue is the ideal LogMeIn product for remotely supporting internal and external end-users. The tool is designed to serve a business’s internal users and customers alike. To facilitate this wide audience, Rescue offers multiple methods through which end-users can enable remote access to their devices. It also allows for configurable permissions levels so support specialists can perform all of the necessary support actions.

Limitations

There are some drawbacks to LogMeIn Pro and Rescue worth keeping in mind.

LogMeIn Pro is perceived to be relatively expensive by many reviewers. The cost may be more of a limiting factor if users are not able to make use of the full range of capabilities that Pro offers. Pro’s performance on Mac devices is also lower than PC counterparts. This weakness is particularly pronounced in quality of life factors like screen resolution.

On the other hand, LogMeIn Rescue is not designed for line of business users to self-serve remote access. For example, implementing the tool as an administrator or as the remote accessor is more difficult than simply installing the support agent as an end-user. The user interface also lacks the aesthetics and user-friendliness that non-specialists would expect in their day-today-day tools.

Pricing

LogMeIn Pro has three pricing plans. Pro for Individuals, priced at $30/month, allows access for up to 2 computers, remote access and printing, file storage, and multi-monitor displays, plus a free license to LastPass Premium. The Power Users plan, at $70/month, allows access for up to 5 computers and 3 free LastPass Premium licenses. The Small Businesses plan, at $129/month, adds access for up to 10 computers and 5 LastPass Premium licenses.

LogMeIn Rescue is priced at $108.25/month/license, with $37.50/month/license for mobile support as an add-on.

LogMeIn Pro is very well suited for small-to-medium sized organisations. The pricing is affordable and the implementation is easier. There are some concerns related to data privacy and security, hence I would not advise this to be used when your session handles PHI and PII kind of data, just to be compliant.

Most of the time it is great. Sometimes with iPads it is not great or too expensive for orgs to pay for an option to allow iPads to be logged into along with computers and windows computer tablets. When needing to view something a client is talking about. It is great to use login to understand the issue and possibly fix any issues we need.

Pros
  • LogMeIn Pro by GoTo offers unattended remote access that’s reliable and always available. You can securely log in to a client’s device (Windows or macOS) from anywhere, even without them present.....as long as their machine is on.
  • You can transfer files during a session without disrupting work. I've also transferred some pretty large files at times without issues.
  • I like the dashboard as it makes it easy to manage and organize multiple devices across our client base. You can see online/offline status, access machines instantly, and share access with your team all in one easy to view place

  • The rescue lens feature has come in handy to save us plenty of times. being able to have eyes on the end users' side to see how things are actually physically connected.
  • Having the ability to collaborate with other technicians is a feature that I have not seen in other applications. normally the other person has to connect as well which results in lowered connection speed on the end user's side since 2 connections are running.
  • The tools to be able to locate and audit sessions are also very valuable for measuring the performance of my technicians.

Cons
  • LogMeIn Pro allows only one user to control the remote destination at a time. If more than one user needs to access/control the same destination, they can share the session (visibility to both parties), or will need to wait till the prior user is logged out for a more secure session. Being able to log in and use the same destination at the same time, initiating unique sessions would be ideal. (Similar to VPN.)
  • Ability to override or default session settings for security, for example blanking the remote monitor (or not), recording a session, or changing access while the user is in-session. This would allow an administrator or manager to more closely audit activity.
  • Provide a one-click logout+disconnect. Right now, users must disconnect their session before exiting LogMeIn Pro. If their session is not first disconnected and the user simply exits or logs out of LogMeIn Pro, the session may remain active, without disconnecting. This would show as an active session, even if the user is technically no longer using the remote destination.
  • More detailed audit information. What application did the user access while connected to the remote destination? Was the session shared with anyone else?

We may continue using Logmein as it is the best remote support application in terms of connection latency and control. However, since several of our client sites have stricter security policies they block this application and we have to switch to other ways which is inconvenient

Usability
I will give a Rating of 10 for LogMeIn Pro by GoTo's overall usability because it has a centralized Dashboard to access all machines and servers and a very user-friendly User Interface. Also, the remote connectivity is very smooth and reliable as if you are working on your local desktop or laptop.

Support Rating
My calls and e-mails to tech support have been few and far between, but those rare interactions were always pleasant and handled professionally. Most support can be accessed electronically, but when the need arises to actually speak to a human being, LogMeIn's customer service reps are clearly well-trained and knowledgeable. Another plus: there isn't the language barrier that I've experienced with other technology companies' support centers.

I'd say support for LogMeIn is ideal because I haven't ever been in a situation where additional support was necessary. The program runs so efficiently and simply that nothing was needed beyond initial training that was provided by my company. I am saying this as a user that strictly uses the technician console

Alternatives Considered
LogMeIn has U.S. servers for connectivity which is super important for us. We are constantly re-evaluating our licensing with these other products. The licenses are renewed simply because management and the technology support staff have not pushed for a detailed review and there have been no significant problems in its use. The licensing cost is considered an annual sunk cost.

Truth be told, Rescue is the first and so far only solution from LogMeIn I started to use. However since it offers a wide range of tools specifically designed for remote support, it is highly effective for resolving technical issues. Additionally, Rescue provides various connection methods and customizable interfaces, allowing support teams like mine to tailor the experience to specific needs.

Return on Investment
  • not sure on a measurable ROI, but LogMeIn has definitely been a useful tool for our one satellite office where there are two devices that require unattended remote access
  • only negative I can think of, cost-wise, is that the cost of ALL remote access software jumped a number of years back where suddenly there were no longer any free options

  • For businesses with small to midsize IT staff, the ability to remotely control devices that are not on-site and occasionally out of state is extremely cost-effective.
  • The speedy response time of LogMeIn Rescue has been very helpful in resolving issues for IT staff.
  • The administrative process has been made more efficient by the ability to remotely log into servers.
